I'm talking about magic pen marks, glyphs, and quints all together. Are there any mages that have scaling that works in such a way that you would be more powerful late game by having max armor pen in your runes and items instead of focusing on max ability power?
I have always liked the idea of wanting to min/max my artillery mages for maximum damage output end game, and wondered if that was a possible way to do it.

RamRanchDressing2 votesIt's worthwhile on Brand and Zyra because of the base damage (Brand passive, Zyra plants) that scale terribly with AP. Any other champ that works like that can use it, but the support role gets away with the early game greed more easily.

Corporal B1 votesOld Brand utilized Mag pen runes well, even now I still run mag pen on him. Before running mag pen as support you could carry with your passive damage alone. Now it's a little more tricky.

Elise does %health damage which makes very MPen strong on her, but she is normally jungle so you need armor and things to survive the clear.
Mundo does magic damage (other than the AD steriod he has) and builds straight HP most of the time MPen makes his cleavers hit like a truck to start the game.
I'd look for champions with % hp scaling and that is where MPen is most effective, but typically it is still an early game champs stat.
