Is shielding/healing all game a fun, interactive experience you'd main a role for?

chipndip1··3 votes·1,162 views

If I ever suggest that we (god forbid) try to diversify support itemization to fit more play styles, I get downvoted, right? So why not break it down into a more simple form: If everything in the support role being geared towards heal/shield power is actually fine by a vast majority of players to play, not just to slap on a support that you aren't paying attention to, then shouldn't the role in general be growing more and more popular since more people would want to spend 20 - 40 minutes shielding and healing people, and that's the exact crowd Riot's been pandering to ever since they came up with the heal/shield passive?

it's fun

but not when your character can only do this

I personally love playing support. It's a vital part to every team, saving the teammates as they fight their way through the battle. It's especially great when you save someone with a shield because you get a satisfaction of saving someone, and denying a kill from the other team. People love support because it's fun and satisfying when you land your cc and keep your team alive.

  • Plays Lulu
  • sees Allied Vayne is low and in trouble.
  • Flashes trough enemy team just to ulti and E W them
  • Dies in the process of doing so
  • Vayne gets Triple kill.

Feels good.

Once I got a nami triple kill. My Vayne died but i got a three man bubble under tower

But you're dodging the question and romanticizing.

Is shield/heal emphasis honestly the type of game play that a good deal of people would/should want to play as a main role? Like repeated games that last 20 to 40 minutes long.

I fail to see how i am dodging anything.

Seems more to me like you are just trying to get out the response you wanna hear.

Describing the experience =/= "I would/wouldn't main a role to do this."

Someone else said "Yeah, I love cucking people." Someone else said "Not when it's the only thing you do." That's more along the lines of the answer we're looking for here. Also, I don't think I was responding to you to begin with...

Except I didn't "just describe the experience". I explained why I main support and why i find it fun.

All you are doing is dismissing my opinion on the matter because you ar efishign for the answer you wanna hear as opposed to the one i am giving you.

Thanks for proving my point. You aren't asking legitimate questions. They are loaded questions. You just wanna hear what you wanna hear.

I fail to see your point.

Obviously I have my own opinion, but like the other guy that said "Yes I do", I didn't say anything about it because he answered the question. The question was is the defensive play of healing/shielding worth maining this role over. If it is, just say so. Even in my case, part of it is. Not ALL of it, but part of it.

Someone says "yes"

Someone says "yeah, but not when it's the only thing"

I'm OBVIOUSLY asking a loaded question to fish for responses. Not one person has come on this thread and said "no" yet, yet you're the only person that's got an issue.

I fail to see your point.

You're so defensive I wasn't even talking to you and you started this tangent, is the point.

You're incorrect, sorry.

He responded to this comment, not yours, Chaddy.

He specifically comments about a poster saying they like cucking people. that was me.

Idk, I was responding to the other guy and you got offended. You were fine when you answered the question in that other comment chain.

than i'll be the first.

I am ok with shielding and healing. But I enjoy ruining people's days in a proactive manner much more than being my allies health battery and bodyguard.

In general I want to be making the decisions for my opponents. I want to be making decisions for the enemy jungler and for the enemy top laner and for the enemy mid laner. Being able to shield an ally does not grant me that power. being able to shield myself for a HUGE amount does but i don't have that kind of numbers.

Eunbi Bias2 votes

I don't see how I dodged. I love shielding and healing, because of the satisfaction I gain from my experience in all of my games

chipndip12 votes

Alrighty, you're good. "I love support" =/= "I love shielding/healing", but with this you're fine.

I like that feeling when I time my shield just right to block enemy poke.

it's like that one minigame in kirby superstar, only way more interactive.

But is that worth maining support over?

ofc.

Cucking and Lolnope-ing assassins, burst mages and divers is fun.

Maximum Morde1 votes

No, but it's decent side power. I'd hate it to be my champions focus, like Soraka. I liked her better when I could take her Solo lane, build tank, and use her as team fight MR shredder. Now that she's a heal bitch she's cut from my roster.

Athenes Lulu1 votes

Is this why 90% of players think Lulu is "the shitty version of Janna"?

Because all they do is shield, only use half of her kit, and wonder why Lulu "sucks at supporting".

chipndip11 votes

Partially: Yes, because Lulu's ability to do these things while keeping herself alive isn't that hot.

Partially: No, because Lulu actually isn't that strong right now, seeing how any enchanter/enchanter hybrid support that doesn't appreciate being nothing but a heavy shield/heal bot isn't that strong right now. This includes Sona and Morgana at this point.

That's if you ask me anyway.
