Since Cassiopeia is going to be the first to get the "Grounded" debuff...

darkdill··100 votes·17,865 views

Who else is planned to get said debuff?

Also, who do you think SHOULD get the new "Grounded" crowd control?

Here are a few I can think of who could use it:

Singed - Add it to Mega Adhesive to give him some neat utility. Talon - Because "CutAnkles" isn't nearly good enough. Syndra - Add it to her W when she maxes it out. Gives her some real nasty surprises. Anivia - Honestly, her crowd controls are outdated. Add this to her ultimate while removing its AS slow. Veigar - Once his Event Horizon finishes forming, it should do this to people inside of it. There, now it's REALLY useful. Nerf the cooldown if needed. Nasus - This could work IF he has a target Withered while they are inside Spirit Fire. This would require him to commit 2 skills, a lot of mana, and plenty of CD, all just to keep his enemy from Flashing out. Garen - Replacing his Silence with Grounded would make him a lot healthier as a juggernaut by allowing his enemies to actually fight back. Presently, all you can do after he silences you is panic while he spins-to-win.

Suddenly half the roster doesn't invalidate his ult.

LankPants22 votes

I agree with this but J4 would need a special clause on it allowing you to still flash out.

Ackelope4 votes

J4 needs it more than anyone else in this post...

Battlecast Sona27 votes

J4 needs a skill to be given absolutely no counterplay?

You do realize that this would lead to the complete gutting of J4, right? What you're suggesting is that when people get hit by J4 POINT AND CLICK AoE ULTIMATE THAT CREATES TERRAIN, they ALSO can't use escapes to get out of the terrain... there's no way that that would get shipped without J4 getting serious nerfs to every other part of his kit.

This totally won't make him completely broken. Totally.

The issue is that J4's multi is SO strong against those it works against, that making it work against everybody would require massive nerfs. Ideally there'd be some way to counter play the ulti for all champions, maybe have the walls autoattackable to destroy them, or some such?

Well,there's flash.

But well, the champions it's effective against generally have strong abilities to compensate for that(and those who don't are garbage, and you can't blame j4 for them being in that state,as they have issues even if he's not in the game),but also their teammates can follow through it.

if you give j4 ult the grounded debuff not only will in be a death sentence to all champions when he ganks,he will also be able to completely split apart entire teams while making sure everyone in the ult has no where to go,it would be completely broken.

Battlecast Sona6 votes

instead, there is literally 0 counterplay to his ultimate. I think J4 needs some love, but not this.

Oh god, buffs to Anivia would be horrendus.

She is already VERY good against assassins, as someone who plays her frequently. For this not to completely put her over the top, Riot would need to reduce her numbers.

Though I think this would go well on Nasus

No, please no. Nasus is already incredibly difficult to escape from thanks to his slow being massive, which means that if you don't have a long ranged dash, slow resistance, or a way to cleanse his slow, you are dead. Nasus already has incredible dueling potential. Him having a Grounded debuff would make him broken.

I was thinking if Mordekaiser could get it on his ultimate, though. He is already pretty immobile, a way to counter mobility would help him a lot. It would also help him have a little more utility for his team during a teamfight. Imagine if he could "ground" that fed Vayne.

darkdill6 votes

Morde is a juggernaut, so CC isn't really supposed to be part of his kit. Besides, that ultimate already is devastating when used properly. Snipe an enemy, and suddenly the ensuing teamfight is 6v4.

Nasus already has the strongest targeted slow in the game, for the love of god not this.

darkdill16 votes

Maybe if it only Grounded the enemy if they were Withered while inside Spirit Fire. There, Nasus has to commit 2 skills, meaning a lot of mana and CD's.

Just don't buff Nasus. In any way.

Speaking as a Nasus main,

don't buff Nasus.

2nd strongest. Zilean beats him in this regard.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

I'd argue that the AS slow on wither makes it the strongest overall, even if not number wise.

crippler384 votes

that makes it the most useful targeted slow not the strongest

RiotRiotRepertoir26 votes

Who else is planned to get said debuff?

Currently, no one. We're likely to see how it plays before committing to trying it on other champions. That said, it's been set up so that it would be easy to add to other champions as well.

darkdill5 votes

Are there any Champions who you think it'd be appropriate on? I could definitely see Garen getting it as a replacement for his silence. Much more fair in letting you fight back against him.

RiotRiotRepertoir15 votes

Singed W seems like a good candidate to me.

Tortferngatr1 votes

Minor question: Does the PBE version of Cass have Grounded implemented yet?

RiotRiotRepertoir7 votes

It appears that it doesn't. It looks like only a partial build went in, and it looks like the only changes were to her passive, as well as the spell descriptions (not their functionality).

charcharmunro2 votes

Would the glue thus have its actual slow reduced by an amount? Because a straight-up buff to Singed like that is fairly unnecessary.

Remlap12233 votes

Repetoir, I'm going to ask that you and the reds call Grounded "Cripple." If you don't, it's going to turn into "Root/Snare" 2.0. We need consistency.

RiotRiotRepertoir7 votes

It's hard to say either is better, as "Cripple" could just as easily sound like a slowing effect or something.

Let's just keep it simple and say they've been "gravitied". Or even better (if applied to a Lee Sin) he's been "Dee Sinn-ed". :D

In all honesty though, "Gravity" may be a good thing to call the debuff.

Troll for Trump21 votes

It would be flavorful on Talon, but it would make him insanely strong. Overpowered, even.

If giving his E a silence made him over-the-top, giving it grounded would make him just about as strong as silence

darkdill9 votes

The issue with silence was that mages could not fight back. Grounded doesn't stop a Brand from blasting Talon in the face with Sear.

Troll for Trump10 votes

It prevents them from flashing or running away. Leblanc is dead meat after he E's her, for instance. Ahri can no longer ult away to safety.

macromite5 votes

seems balanced. only hurts the slippery bastards.

Ackelope6 votes

Every change in League of Legends usually hurts only a specific group of champions. Often times, these changes are a little over the top. You're fine with one group being affected because you dislike them personally? Look, I'm sure most people dislike those champions quite a bit, but that doesn't mean they should be nerfed for that reason.

macromite2 votes

no no, they should be nerfed like this because of two reasons.

A, it means that they can receive minor buffs elsewhere in their kit.

and B, it means that there can be balance in the game.

slippery targets atm are too slippery, you either kill them instantly or they escape, which has pushed riot to make more champions capable of killing them instantly, which adversely affects non-slippery targets more than slippery targets. strong cc is in the same vein, strong against slippery targets, but stronger against non-slippery targets, due to the fact that when cc runs out an immobile champ is stuck but a mobile champ can still escape. this creates an issue where mobile champions are pretty much just better than immobile champions, even if they miss some damage or range, due to them having nearly no counter. well, here is a counter to mobility that doesn't affect immobiles very much, and due to that it's a very good thing.

Ackelope1 votes

I think the prevalence of other sorts of CC among most characters in the game can usually do an adequate job of dealing with dashes. I find it a little funny that people act as if some revolutionary thing happens when a CC that stops you from using mobility is added, seeing as most forms of CC stop people from using mobility as it is...

macromite1 votes

again, still better against immobile than mobile for the most part.

Ackelope3 votes

Honestly, I don't know why I'm arguing for less CC... I think adding grounded to some people would be pretty good honestly. It just needs to be really careful where it's put.

TheOvermind18 votes

Karthus W is perhaps the one that needs it the most out of everyone atm

ValyrianBlade12 votes

Veigar - basically does it already (so might as well I guess?) because his wall stops dashes on the wall now, right? Anivia - no, just please no. Anivia is really strong. Her ultimate is already insanely annoying (you can't siege against her at all). Unless you want to drastically increase the cooldown on her ultimate (or maybe the mana cost) this would just put her over the top.

Talon - May be too strong on him as well, but I'd be cool with it if it came alongside compensatory nerfs

Syndra Singed - sounds good. Creative on Syndra.

Yorick - should add this guy. He needs a rework. He's a gravedigger. It just works.

bill842 votes

Well this is true for veig, the blinks are a huge problem for him that make it so he alost has to land the wall ontop of a person or they will just get out easily.

crippler382 votes

only people with blinks I can think of are shaco and ezreal, so besides flash what else is there? EDIT: forgot fizz and yi

Bodkins Odds2 votes

The first half of Ekko's E is a blink. So is Zed's W.

Ralimak6 votes

Second half of Ekko's E. The first half is a dash.

Ralimak3 votes

Fiddlesticks Elise Kassadin Leblanc Katarina Lissandra Talon Zed Ekko

I think some of these might not technically be considered blinks. Honestly not sure what you would classify Elise's rappel as, but it seems like it's in the same category. Kind of.

dunkeroni2 votes

They could add it onto Leblanc's chain, since the removed the silence from it before because it didn't have enough counterplay. Now people can counter, just not with movement abilities.

darkdill18 votes

It was Leblanc's Q that had the silence, not her chain.

Squidblimp2 votes

I'd actually be fine if LB's chain grounded me, but only if they also removed the slow from it.

LankPants11 votes

I think you're very close to having a point here, you just missed it by a fraction. I don't think it would be bad to add an effect like this to LB's chains, as long as you removed or at least severely nerfed the slow. By doing that you'd make LB's chains more scary VS mobile champs and less of a death sentence VS immobile champs.
