Will we ever reach a point in the game where we don't need to buff or nerf anyone anymore?

Everyone would be strong.

Nobody would be TOO strong.

Is this possible?

If it is possible, do you think Riot would make random buffs and nerfs as an excuse to keep the game "alive" even though no change would be warranted?

In another world, perhaps.

But buffs and nerfs help other champions get picked besides the popular ones. Promotes more diverse gameplay, shifting some people into the limelight and other champions out of it. Tanks are in right now, but it required pushing assassins to the side a bit. True balance, I believe, is essentially impossible for human beings.

i found this interesting. Not quite sure why there's a picture of a car when it's a link to an article.

It is, of course, a possibility. The problem is it would require nothing new being added to the game. Every time something new comes along additional variables are thrown into the mix that change everything. A new champion might be well balanced by themselves, but particular team comps could grow off of that champion's mechanics that are outright stronger than the rest, and so on.

Basically the game would stagnate, which is not necessarily the worst thing in the world, but would drive away quite a few people over time.

I think it's impossible

There will always be that meta or that group of champions that are better because some kits are just destined to be worse than others, that's just how it works

On the other hand, if it WAS possible, it would be unhealthy for the game, since it would become stale after a while, and lose players

This situation is "kinda" happening with ADC's. They dont really get buffed or nerfed much compared to other roles. Certain ADCs become stronger based on the overall meta.

even if we did they would release broken champs like ekko and we would need more nerfs

If we do, they'll just release another champion that needs to be nerfed.

Nope. This is partially because League kits have so few options by design, and also partially because Riot gives very little time for metas to settle inbetween patching so Riot can get an accurate view of what's actually strong in the current game.

There's also a sense in which the game is unlikely to ever seem at balance because champs and comps, at balance, should "cycle through" different metas that beat the previous. You see this in MtG; one week, aggro is meta, so everyone switches to midrange, which makes control beat the new meta, which then makes aggro beat the emergent control meta, etc. (This is a simplification, but it's a fairly accurate for how simple the explanation is.)

The game will never be balanced because Riot keeps on fucking with it. The meta is always being changed because Riot is run by a bunch of fucks with ADD. You like the new jungle? Thats nice, its going to be completely changed in Season 6. You have a favorite champion? They are going to be nerfed/buffed overplayed/underplayed and then eventually reworked in the future when people deem their kits "old"

Compare that to DotA2 which is pretty damn balanced and has remained much the same since the first game. A DotA player can hop onto DotA 2 and use the same exact builds they used in DotA1 and still be successful. People in this game call 1-year-old kits "old", jesus imagine what they'd say about kits that have remained largely unchanged for 10 years? What makes DotA fun despite the lack of change? What makes people play DotA even though you are given every single hero in the game when you first start playing? Because its fun as hell. There is no hardset "meta" like league of legends.

In DotA, you can run 2 top, 1 mid, 2 bottom (referred to as 2-1-2), you can run a 1-2-2, a 3-1-1, an agressive or a defensive 1-1-3. You can or cannot have a jungler. You can have someone that just roams around the map gank people, otherwise known as the roamer/ganker. There are so many fucking roles in DotA it is ridiculous. It seems complicated, but its really not. Its basically a big "do whatever the fuck you want, if you really want to make it work you can."

No because ADC mains will always find something new to complain about

Bufs and nerfs don't always happen to keep champion power levels in synch, sometimes they happen simply because one champ is being overplayed, or to shake up which champs get picked for the sake of variety.
