Has Riot changed their mind about this?
It seems people are very displeased with the recent changes (Unneccessary Mundo buff, unneccessary Poppy nerf upcoming crit changes, true damage on IE, Stormrazor, etc. etc.)
Makes me wonder if this gem from Ask Riot still holds true.
Do you guys intentionally make changes to alter the meta? Short answer – nope. While our work definitely has an impact on what is considered meta at any given time, we never go into a period of the year and go “alright, it’s been long enough, time to make poke strats dominant again!” Rather, metas tend to evolve throughout a season based on a variety of factors like regional champion preferences, different skill levels, what you see in pro play, etc., so it’s more like a continual process of adaptation for players as they optimize towards the next best thing as we change the game every patch. , they really need to pull back the reigns on new champions and fix the game as it is. They kind of have done that, but they are still incentivizing more and more damage which is so silly imo. step back, pause anything that is in the pipeline for new champs, etc. Update old champs, TEST them, and fix the holes in the game. What is a tank supposed to do? what is the purpose of a support? what is different from a tank and tank support? Can mages be good without being assassins or roamers or both? Just dissect the game into core blocks, and build the game up from there bit by bit, and have a strong base. Because over time they make rules to break them later, that causes a problem, then they institute another rule they break later, and the cycle continues
