@Xypherous/Meddler/etc. - Have you tried making a support who can spell shield an ally?

Before you say "Morgana", that is not the same thing. Morgana Black Shield protects against crowd controls and magic damage, but won't block a Pantheon Spear Shot. I'm talking about something like Sivir Spell Shield, Nocturne Shroud of Darkness, or a item 3102.

A support who could place spell shields on an ally could be very useful, and would definitely have a niche place. Excellent counterpick to Thresh, for one.

Any thoughts?

Morgan blocks CC and magic damage. You want something that does all that AND block attack damage spells?

Morgana's shield is arguably a lot more powerful than Sivir's. I think that's what he's suggesting, a support that can give Sivir's shield to people. It wouldn't be broken at all if it was of short duration, requiring you to pay a lot of attention to make it work and only blocking one ability.

Ohhh I understand now. I think that would be a really interesting ability to have on a support, great idea!

Maybe make it cleans too?

But that kind of spell would need to be and on a low duration.

Basically, but only works against 1 hit. Means timing is crucial.

Yeah: One application of it. Black Shield blocks all CC for 5 seconds unless your mage unloads everything they have into the target, which is absurd.

But it doesn't block physical damage, or special effects like Mordekaiser's ultimate debuff.

But it blocks the CC that many physical damage dealing champions have with no chance of them breaking the shield and allowing their CC to actually stop the target. Imagine, for a moment, they removed the magic damage shield and just made it "Immune to CC for 5 seconds." Do you want to know what that ability would be?

An ULT. Olaf's ult, to be exact. The shield is significantly more of a liability than a strength.

The big issue with this is the highly reflexive nature of Spell Shields and issues with targeting them. It'd have to be a "Nearest Ally Smartcast" a-la Heal.

One could say standard shields require reflexive use too. Same with Soraka's heal if you want to bait with it.

Not nearly to the same level as a Spell Shield as it protects against ANYTHING, but only once.
