Is there a way to let the game know you're trying a new role?

I'm primarily a support main, that's where I'm comfortable. I think I'd like to try filling though, to get some variety in my games. Trouble is, I really can't play any other role, and if I get matched with the teams I usually get matched with I'm going to get slaughtered and flamed and reported and it's not gonna be a fun time. I don't suppose there's a way to get matched with players more my skill? Probably not, but I thought I'd ask

3 options:

  1. tell no one, play the game, and just sort of announce it at the end win or lose
  2. tell everyone right away, so the flame war can start in champ select and tilt your whole team before you even play the game (not your fault, but people literally cannot handle anything)
  3. Let them figure it out by looking at your mastery points and just don't give them any mind whatsoever at any point...unless they're decent, and you wanna group with them.

Every year with a soft reset you have a good window to get moved to a Range your not deadweight. K resets for Ranked Qs. So start with your new Main role from the get go. You wont do any better then if you just played now. But your MMR score changes faster with a Higher K value so it takes the system less time to move you to a new range of MMR.

The normal game mode you have the least games in or the most losses in is also a very good option because your MMR Value in that que should be low.

Another option is to collect some friends and use custom games to Scrimmage.

If your not mechanically solid, honestly play vs bots sometimes. Be that Vs AI or Custom game filled with AI for both teams.

Practice tool IS actually helpful for practicing things like CS and getting a feel for champions ranges and ability's.

Check out some mechanic vids on youtube.

Ask community for help... Some times you bump into some one who actually enjoys being helpful.

As ChaosReyn said, but don't tell anyone even after game is over. Do you think they'll appreciate it after the game is over?

You should still be able to play decent and if you die once or twice try to farm.

Do /mute all after every game, i always do it even when i play my main role, maybe because my main role is jungle but even if i play other roles i still do it. You get no benefit from having chat up, players can tilt your or make you waste time by typing, every second you spend typing is not spend on doing something efficient to win the game, sometimes you can lose a drake because you have been arguing with people, happened to me before.

Just focus on yourself and your improvement and ignore everything else by muting everyone and if they spam ping you, mute pings too.

What I said was honestly half-satire. xD

People in this game naturally like to find the first thing that looks semi-blameworthy and light it up.

Hell, my last League of Coinflip, I was 4/0 adc, went to 4/4 within the next 5 minutes once we started teamfighting because our Zed fed the literal hell out of Ahri, and the whole game, this useless twat is just spam pinging me up a wall and flaming me in chat. (of course, I muted him after the first minute of it, but that doesn't mean he's playing the game - he's still just QQing in all chat while the enemy team runs him over, and saying that him dying from being essentially afk was my bad too. >.>)

Point is: you don't owe these bastards anything. Play what you're playing. It's normals, if you're practicing, and that's what normals are used for - casual play and practicing new things. As long as it's not first/second timing a guy in ranked, nobody can legitimately report you for playing a champion you're not good with...but you can sure as hell report them for flaming you over it.

option 4) make a smurf account to play those roles and then when you fell comfortable enough play them on your main

I don't endorse pubstomp accounts. Besides, real men own their bad play's stats in off roles in normals, and carry with their good ones in ranked.

at no point did I say that this would be a pubstomp account

I said, if you read the post is you make the account to play those roles and when you feel comfortable enough on those roles then go back to your main account and play them there

I did this personally with Jungle on my smurf account, it was the only role I was god awful at, and playing it on my main made me feel weird that I was adept at the other roles but couldn't wrap my head around Jungle (plus I would also get some flak for it because I had never played it before, cause I warned people if I got stuck in that role)

once I got to a point where I had gotten everything down to a rough spot and I knew enough, I switched over to my main account to play turns out...I still suck at Jungle but I can play it from time to time if there is a need

Positional matchmaking is still in effect believe it or not. I am an average gold player in all roles except for jungle which I never play, and when i queue up for jungle i get matched with B1-S4/3 instead of G4-P4 because my positional MMR on jungle is terrible.
