What is the counterplay to Trundle, as a solo player?

Lets just assume i do not have a jungler. What is Trundle's counterplay? It just seems like his primary counterplay in lane is "get ahead/outstat him", which is rarely viable in diamond and above.

  1. Do not pick someone into him that depends on defensive itemization or a defensive steroid in order to function. That means no tanks or bruisers unless you're good at them. That or it's some overtuned asshole like Maokai/Ornn.

  2. Grievous wounds, as when his ult his down he relies on his sustain to keep himself alive.

  3. Do not try to fight him after he activates his ult. It lasts 4 sec, just back off until it ends.

That's it really.

Generally, he has the hardest time against ranged and/or AP opponents. Mobile fighters that rush damage can deal with him as well, but they can't put him out of the game completely unless their entire team is squishy for some reason.

Also, pay attention to what he's building. He scales the best with hp and cdr, so if he's rushing damage with no hp/defense, he's sacrificing teamfight potential and late game scaling for better dueling.

Honestly, top Troll is only good as a counterpick because, even if fed, his solo carry potential is low. He basically turns into a secondary support after the early game regardless of his build.

Well, which champion? You wont beat him in short trades cause of his sustain, so u need ignite and all in.

Any champion. Trundle just seems to do well against every champion.

Play some Trundle. Then you will find out.

Nasus and Jax can beat him in a pure 1 vs 1 situation, also most ranged champions that can kite him like Jayce, Teemo, Vayne, Quin.

the first and most important part of his counterplay is to not fight him in his little field that he makes since that just makes him stronger. Get something that lowers sustain ( eg item 3123 or item 3076 ) after that is on a per champion basis

Playing a ranged champion : kite him Playing a tank champion : waveclear and try being better than him in teamfights Playing a duellist : know your powerspikes and his and fight him when you're stronger. If you have better trading, trade. If you have better all inning, all in. I mean, these are really borderline braindead pieces of advice but they work

"Know your powerspikes and his"

Atm he feels sort of like a basic attack-oriented Ornn - no downtime whatsoever. Spells have such a low cooldown he doesn't really spike, he just slowly scales up stronger and stronger the longer the game goes on.

How does the fact spells have low cd mean he doesn't really spike? Spammable spells usually mean big powerspike with sheen proc. Which actually is eh on him (not bad, not insane), so maybe it's not that low cd.

In any case, if he has no powerspikes that's even better for you, that would mean compared to him your powerspikes mean a big deal. You got trinity as Jax? Maybe it's time to fight. Idk
