My Experience With Dynamic Queue So Far.....

I hit Platinum for the first time in Season 5. I only made it to Gold in Season 3, and came up short at Gold 1 Season 4. Finally hitting mid plat I honestly couldn't see myself chasing Diamond. Between the needed mechanical improvement, I was just flat out exhausted. Solo Queue can be very mentally taxing. Mind you once you hit high Gold you don't see as many trolls, but you still deal with ragers, afks, and negative attitudes, and often you feel more like a babysitter trying to hold your team together.

So I honestly had zero intention of playing ranked for Season 6 having hit my milestone. With Dynamic Queue however I was enticed two play with two friends of mine. Before I could do this though I had to place. I did my placements by myself and I went 9 and 1 in my placement matches, placing Gold 1.....this would have never happened with the old ranked system. Because I would pick Top/Mid I was guaranteed top every single game. Hell when I first hit Plat I went on a streak of never having to go bot lane. Sadly I always felt that a part of the competitive environment of Solo Q is working with your team from champ select, compromising on role selection and picking the best champion for the given situation for that role, particularity to compliment the fact that it's not your strongest role.

Anyway after placements I start playing with my friends. Our jungler a Season 3 Diamond player who reached mid plat at the end of Season 5 on a Gold Smurf. Myself a top laner, and his younger brother highest rank being Silver :p normally on ADC. If I picked Top/Jungle we would pretty much guarantee, that at least myself and the jungler got our roles. If he was to ever get his long time main Udyr it was pretty much "GG." Yes his brother could be considered a weak link, lacking proper knowledge and mechanics, but our jungler a natural leader simply shot calling and directing him made it so it was better then having a random who could, feed, rage or afk. Better then when we used to duo queue last season and have 3 people to worry about instead of two, since we can all control each other.

I get to enjoy the company of my friends, far less likely to encounter trolls and what not, and I have to say the experience is just overall better. I'm still conflicted though. I'm back to Plat, and our ADC is now Gold for the first time. Funny thing though is I remember when I first hit gold in Season 3. It was massive milestone for me, understanding the flow of the game and mechanics better. It was when I stopped blaming my losses on my teammates and just focused on my own mistakes and improving. The guy still makes comical errors though, or maybe low Gold just looks worse too me now that I've spent time a tier above.

Regardless Dynamic Queue just easily allows your teammates to make up for ones flaws. Reminding teammates to ward, making up for a lack of map awareness, hell even doing the math in a teamfight to let your friends know that they can re-engage, or telling them when to ult. Just really seems to lopeside what ranking mean. Are you good? Or do you just have good friends?
