So, every team brings at least one - and often more - champions specifically for enabling their marksman.

But they have no downside.

well no team always brings one or often times more champions for enabling their mages/tanks/fighters/assassins regardless of meta, or team comp. i wonder why that is. clearly im overthinking this. maybe we shouldnt compare a class that IS MANDATORY TO BE PRESENT IN EVERY SINGLE GAME, to classes that are not as strong and therefore are not mandatory every single game.

Because other classes don't need it. They do fine without babysitter.

ok, sure, at a class level you really dont need supports for other classes, but what about a matchup level?

what about having a top lane nasus vs a renekton, or jayce, or quin, or any other massively oppressive top laner that completely shuts you out of farming your Q? i bet having a support there to fight him off would be nice.

not all ADCs even need a support to be honest. caitlyn doesnt need a support to farm and become a monster later on. sure she might not get many kills inlane, but she doesnt need a support to do well.

Try it. At any half-decent ELO you will either get 2v1 lane and be completely zoned from farm, lane swapped against a mage/something mobile, or simply camped for the very same effect. It's not like anyone will let solo-lane Caitlin play against another marksman she can bully.

There are a few marksman that can solo lane, but most of them are hybrids that can't really be compared to, or used as bot lane carries, like Graves, Quinn, Teemo or Jayce.

i bet having a support there to fight him off would be nice.

It would be, but it's not needed. Matchups vs strong laners as Nasus are harsh, but he handles them. In fact, at the moment Nasus still wins more matches against a Renekton, Jayce or Quinn than he loses.

Marksman usually don't have stats required to deal that kind of oppression, thus they always need a supporter. Those that can solo are not the same kind of champions as "mandatory bot lane marksman".

Supports aren't really there to enable or make up for some inherent weakness in ADCs, though.

wrong.

i mean this is such a generic response, that it is true for every single person in the game. it just depends how much you screw up.

They're easily burst down. They rely on allies to peel more than any other type of champion in game. They are generally played in bot lane where they do not gain as much experience as their jungle, mid, or top because they share it with their support. They cannot engage most enemies on their own because, again, they are easily burst down. Most ADC's have no escapes and cannot afford to be out of position for any single moment because, again, they are easily burst down. Did I mention they are easily burst down?

oh well, yea, with all those uniquely ranged ADC downsides no wonder they are not present in every single game anymore like they were up until shortly before the sun exploded and plunged us into this age of uncertainty where ADCs have drawbacks and arent played in every single game regardless of enemy team composition or your teams composition.

You requested a list of weaknesses, you provided none of your own. I provided some.

As for their presence in every game, that is what is known as an optimal team composition. You have one on your team and the enemy has one on theirs. Ranged DPS has proven time and again to play a pivotal role in the game.

However, would you suggest a team be comprised entirely of ADC's? Have you ever seen what that's like?

I have,

It is the most idiotic thing I have ever witnessed in all the years LoL has been in existence.

ADC's are not some end all be all solution to every situation,

which basically means that ranged DPS is by far the strongest class in the game by such a long shot that no other combination of 2 classes can replace it in bot lane.

a team comprised of 5 of any class is stupid. 5 supports, 5 tanks, 5 mages, 5 fighters. they are all equally retarded, so lets not go to extremes. lets take the game as its played and examine it.

in top lane i can play: mages like vlad, swain, rumble, or tanks like garen, nasus, dr mundo, or i can play assassins, like akali, jax, irelia, pantheon, i can play ranged characters like kayle and jayce, or i can play melee characters like illaoi and udyr

none of those picks would be considered straight up trolling. some are not meta, but by no means would i be accused of trolling.

now in mid lane, its a bit more strict, i can still play mages, or assassins, and even some fighters, and still not be accused of trolling.

jungle is about as loose as top lane. you can play about anything and not be considered trolling.

meanwhile in bot lane, anything BUT ADC AND SUPPORT is considered trolling.

why is that? i argue its because ADC with Support is such a ridiculously strong combo that anything else is basically trolling in comparison.

this game isnt even close to being balanced until ADCs have to fight for their spot on a team like every other class in every other lane does.

They're easily burst down.

got to already stop you here.

summoner 7 item 3139 item 3072 item 3046 + support with item 3109 or item 3107 and shields.

ive seen so many times, adc fucking up their positioning, get hit by mage burst abilities and just cleansing cc with a mercurial and hitting summoner heal, or get saved by their supports, and then resume shredding their opponent while his abilities are on cooldown.

an adc who isnt a potato and understands how to itemize is actually bloody hard to burst down by a single person. im some cases even on his own.

Late game, sure, they're monsters. That's why you gotta keep them shut down and end the game within 40 minutes or less.

Whatever champion you main, you have to know your power spike and capitalize on it. Else, you're gonna have a bad time.

Me, it's Wukong. His power spike rests somewhere between 30 and 40 in. That's when he's level 16+ and has a max level ultimate. That's the time I really get to tear things up and that's when I have to try and delete as many enemies as I can and close the game. I don't like reaching full build, I don't like having to rely on elixirs because when everyone is fed, no one is fed, and Wukong gets shit on by so many different champions when that happens. Closing the gap on any single full build high burst/dps enemy is a pain. And even when I do, killing them is another kettle of fish.

k, ill do that from top lane with the nerfed teleport, while being level and item reliant myself, and games are mostly decided with the 4 man dives on bot lane and turret first blood within the first 10 minutes of the game.

im a support main, i wouldnt exist without ADC being completely imbalanced and present every single game ever.

trust me im very happy ADCs are as they are, because well...if not i would have to jungle, and i really dont like jungling very much.

About ranged ADCs being mandatory, ...

While that is not necessarily true, it is very common because it really just makes sense.

Lets be completely honest about what it takes to actually win. Knocking down the Nexus, or at least being far enough ahead of your enemy team that they feel confident enough that you will be able to knock down their Nexus before they will be able to knock down yours.

But what does that take?

Well to get to the Nexus you have to take down the Nexus Turrets.

To get to the Nexus Turrets you have to take down at least one Inhibitor.

To touch the Inhibitors you have to take down the Inhibitor Turrets ...

...

You see where I'm going here?

You need to be able to siege!

Structures are most vulnerable to physical damage and being able to deal a lot of physical damage safely is pretty much EXACTLY what ranged ADC is built to do.
