Outplay isn't new and there is no "Mobility Creep"

Mira Arya Enthe··6 votes·604 views

High mobility champions Kassadin Ahri Riven LeeSin Nidalee Vayne

And moderately mobile champions Katarina Ezreal Jax Renekton Shyvana

Have existed since S1. And have been consistently and commonly released since League came to be. They are nothing new. There is no mobility creep.

Damage on the other hand has gone up. But this is directly visible and related to masteries and years of tuning base stats, plus snowballing.

Just tired of seeing mobility creep bunched into every post about damage creep. When from the original 40 through 7 seasons there have always been extremely mobile and outplay designs.

People have been talking about big plays since the game became known. Outplaying and high mobility or complex kits are not new.

We got more extreme cases of high mobility. Kalista Yasuo Camille Azir Camille's Hookshot and Azir's EQ combo have Really long ranges for basic abilities, and I don't even need to explain Kalista and Yasuo, do I?

But yes, damage creep is a bigger problem than Mobility creep for sure.

mobility has become commonplace and comes with very little if no trade-off now. at worst they're single target

immobile champions (only immobile mages) have been needing to get stronger and stronger as a direct response. strong CC, damage, range, aoe all of that.

edit: mobility creep is real but of anything immobile champions have gotten more obnoxious as a result of it

Because if Riot adds 5 mobile champs and 5 immobile champions. People are more likely to play the mobile ones. For example. Vel'Koz was released. He is newer but Ahri who is old is still more popular. With 134 champions even if only 20 they would be the most commonly popular. And none of these new champions compare with old Kassadin.

immobile champions still get played often. its a matter of reliability that determines soloQ performance

Viktor, lux, Annie maintain high play rates because they're simple and they feel rewarding to land abilities with

Darius is a staple top lane across all ranks because he's straightforward and reliable outside of pro play and a few hard counters

mobility in league is pretty much one sided out play potential. mobile champs are played often because what are they gonna do if they aren't poppy or Cass

Meanwhile I watch Boxbox get his ass handed to him by Darius, Illoai, Trynd and even Morde once. But nope. Only mobile champions have agency.

Big Lincoln1 votes

i just said immobile champions that have agency get picked

of they're reliable in soloQ then they tend to get picked

I love how people say "mobility creep" and broken stuff is needed to "counter the mobility creep"... Yet Jhin, Ashe, Twitch,.. were all god tier, mid lane is mostly immobile mages, and so on lel.

Xavanic1 votes

key word there is "were" twitch is still god tier due to the elements of his kit allowing for near perfect positioning, all these immobile champs keep getting nerfed because their given utility/dmg for their lack of mobility and now a mobility creep is beginning as champs like vi and heca become more popular snuffing out most forms of immobility due to their absurd dmg and tankiness

Penns1 votes

Why would you need broken point and click spells to counter the "mobility creep" then tho, if they are only played to counter actual problems?

Xavanic2 votes

when it comes to shit like ahri/ezreal/yas the only way to kill them is point and click as they will dodge everything else

Penns1 votes

Point and click damage maybe, but whats fair about a 2s point and click root or a point and click/aoe stun that leads to an easy oneshot?

Xavanic1 votes

point and click dmg is very toxic, look at the old ryze...imo point and click cc should be limited to ultimate abilites though, so you have to choose who you want to ult, champs like ryze and annie are repeat offenders of abusing said point and click cc

Judging from pro's picks, Ashe and Jhin are still god tier currently.

Not in solo que, while they are still insanely strong in pro play, its because a team can be built around them and they will get the peel they need, in solo que, your lucky if you even see a champ with decent cc on your team, and even luckier if they use it to peel for you

Tanks should not do as much damage. I'm talking about the ones with AoE hard CC on basic abilities.

Sion disagrees with your statement.

Yeah but he's slow.

You say as he ults across the map.

Jukable.

As is Zac's E.

Point?

Zac's E is jukable too shrug

Ralanr1 votes

So what tanks are doing too much damage with AoE hard CC on basic abilities?

I can only think of Alistar, Sion, Zac, and arguably Thresh and Taric.

Xavanic1 votes

Amumu is pretty busted, also hecarim

Ralanr1 votes

Amumu has no AoE hard CC on any of his basic abilities and Hecarim isn't a tank (nor has AoE hard CC on basic abilities).

Xavanic1 votes

Cho gath does a ton of dmg with his aoe hard cc (legit has a 1.0 ap scaling) Gragas also hits pretty hard

Maokai Shen

Mostly Shen. He actually does a shit ton of damage against squishies if he hits his taunt, but kinda makes up for it by having no ulti. Still, that doesn't mean his E+Q auto auto damage should be equivalent to that of another tank's full combo + ult, And it is, against squishies.

Ralanr1 votes

Except Shen's taunt isn't doing the damage, just his empowered autos. Which is considerably slower because it's sustained damage instead of burst.

I forgot about Maokai's Q being hard CC, but I honestly felt it was his single target root that was doing too much damage.

And of course they both chunk squishies. Everything chunks squishies!

Yeah, but Shen landing his E means he gets to use his at least 2 of his Q hits, which means it might as well be burst. Since you can't do anything anyway.

Maokai just hurts, I don't know why.

Ralanr1 votes

I mean, should Shen not be rewarded for landing his E?

Maokai does hurt. I blame it on his W damage being very reliable.

It's not really that hard to land though, not against someone who you're laning against.

Ralanr1 votes

Again, why should Shen not get rewarded for it?
