Riot: Can we have more discussion about balance?

There are a lot of discussions happening in the Gameplay & Balance boards, but it's very rare to actually see Rioters posting here.

Rioters from other disciplines often post on the boards, but we almost never get any discussion with the balance team.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of issues that a lot of people feel very strongly about, many of them for a long time, yet we never get any word if Riot even cares about them:

  • Champions that a lot of people hate playing against - but they are rarely changed by the balance team, and Riot never mention if they have plans for them or just don't care. Even if a champion is "balanced", a lot of people feel that a champion that everyone absolutely hates to play against has no place in the League, and should be fixed to be more fun. LeeSin Zed Kalista Yasuo Katarina Annie Nidalee Leblanc etc.

  • Weak champions who got randomly nerfed and gutted - but Riot don't listen to the people telling them that the changes are bad, and don't mention if they plan to rectify their error, or if they just don't care. Veigar Evelynn Mordekaiser etc.

  • Large amounts of mobility creep and an increase in overloaded kits, which the community often cry out against, and many accusations that League is balanced towards plays that look impressive in LCS - yet again, Riot don't discuss these problems or even really acknowledge them.

  • Often, when proposed changes appear on the PBE, the community rallies against them and explains exactly why they don't like the changes, why they feel they shouldn't go through, and often propose alternate solutions. Again, these are generally ignored and the changes usually go through anyway - because the PBE is used as a bug-testing environment rather than as a balance-testing environment.

All of these things lead people to believe that Riot don't really care about the community's opinions or the issues that they have to deal with in their games.

While I don't personally agree with all of these issues, they are still issues that are often brought up by the community, and so they are things that Riot should at least acknowledge and discuss.

I don't mean to make this thread excessively negative; Riot's balance team do quite a good job at "average" balance, but there are just a number of large outlying issues that never get resolved, which mean that the "good balance" is often hidden because the outliers rule the day. In other words, most champions are balanced against each other, but the few outliers crowd out those balanced champions, and League's balance suffers immensely because of it.

We really need more communication and interaction from Riot's balance team.

We need them to explain why they make the changes that they make, to explain why they don't make changes that a lot of people clamour for.

We need them to listen to the community's advice more, and at least explain why they are not following it rather than simply ignoring it.

We need them to discuss problematic champions and other issues with us, and let us help them come up with solutions for these problems.

Riot, please!

What else do you want?

If you're merely complaining that Riot is not listening to your opinion (and people who think like you). Get over it, if they listened to everyone's opinions we wouldn't have a playable game.
