Viktor feels... Too Clunky and Underwhelming.

It feels like the rework was exactly what i feared.

Luck dependent underwhelming champ.

I feel like his core issues were not actually fixed, instead they were allowed as is but to horribly brake Viktor in the process just to keep his kit, for the most part, virtually in tact.

Additioanlly, it feels like there was absolutely no love into his rework, instead it comes off as some guy who is a Bronze 5 who cannot figure counter-play intentionally gimps Viktor.

Furthermore, it feels like the rework failed miserably in his thematic. Now i feel more dependant on upgrades than ever before. In the past, i would be able to get one upgrade, obviously on E, build an AP item, then upgrade Q, build some other AP item with un-upgraded boots and feel great. If i was countered i felt like i can fight pretty well. If i countered, it felt like i countered them. Now i feel like i am being forced into upgrading everything. I noticed right off the bat Upgrading and Maxing Q first offered the best way of playing him now, which is great and all, if it wasn't for Q's shield feeling so clunky with the way it activates now (it use to feel more insta-shield, and literally over night it feels very, very delayed. Not sure if intended).

Now i feel horribly gimped. Everything i build feels wrong. If I upgrade abillities too soon in the past, i felt punished, at least in Gold or less, but now i feel like it is a must do. Sadly, then i lack any form of fighting back against my foes. Not enough damage, burst, or DoT. Even when trying Viktor out of new players he feels a bit weak or at least broken and clunky. And against experienced players, it feels even worse, exponentially worse.

E's delay was bad before, trust me, i'm a Vik main, it wasn't that bad of a delay nor was it that great, it was actually good at 0.6 secs. Now it feels more luck based to land it, you aim it way out in advance predict their movement, but since you max out Q now, cause Q seems more reliable and efficient, E does little damage to them. So E feels quite unrewarding.

W should have been buffed, as a form of compensation. How so? By stunning faster. Or, for those that don't want a faster stun, a longer stun (cause admit it, it isn't hard to get out of the stun, unless you chain cc'd or you being greedy).

R just feels... awful. If E feels bad, R feels exponentially worse. I love the changes of more DoT, less iniatial burst, but it feels too clunky as it is now. It feels so unrewarding to stun a target, who got overly greedy, only for them to walk out alive more than ever before. If it was easy to still live then, at least to a Viktor main in low elo like myself, now it feels doubly so.

Thematically, i feel it FAILED miserably. It feels like he isn't improving or revolutionizing. Not even close. As a matter of fact, the opposite. It feels more like he is a sick frail man wasting away due to an illness, but who happens to be tactically a genius. You have to plan out way into advance. But there is nothing of the latter in his theme... but it feels like it in his current "re-reworked" kit.

I have gone through periods of Viktor feeling underwhelming, yet quite rewarding when played well. Now i feel as if I am punished no matter what i do. Then he got OP, indirectly due to others around him getting nerfed. And then, nerfs inbound, which were required and i was perfectly okay with. Then the towers were crap and the winions got buffed, so more nerfs were obviously going to happen since you can one shot waves, which made sense.

I like the ideas behind it, but it feels poor executed.

Viktor has always felt like a control mage. So the rework was supposed to emphasize that and promote that style of play, however it feels like it actually didn't successfully achieve it because Viktor at this time feels like a "luck mage" due to having too many factors involved to make him succeed.

Making him have a niche was a great idea, but to force him into it was awful. Extremely team comp reliant. Yes i think i can still get the use to him, which i will as a Viktor main, but i feel like i can just as easily master Veigar, Zyra, Malz instead. Or continue with my other favorite champs, because Viktor feels horribly underwhelming now.

I like what the theory of Viktors S6 MYMU rework, but there are things that feel just... off. I have used several mages this season, and honestly i loved their changes, but Viktor's i can't wrap my head around it.

I'll still play him, i will get use to him. But from the few, few games i've played, it isn't looking like the MYMU was that great.

You do not max Q where did you get that from. You max E. Q 2nd. E Evolve first too of course, Q 2nd. Also, Rylai's helps with landing the 2nd part of the E explosion and is one of his important items now, as well as helping with keeping people in the ultimate or his W for the stun.

his ult does a lot more damage each tick but ticks more slowly, it can be devastating if multiple enemies are near when it does tick though

Q is more reliable. E isn't. The delay is too great now. Anyone and their mother can easily side step it.

Rylai's is expensive, requires scaling well into game. To get to that point will be super hard. You need a good comp, like try hard comp, to make it work out. I have tried E first, but it was, too clunky and unsatisfying. Even when maxing and upgrading first. Unless you in lane by yourself, is it good. But since tjhe community lacks any sense of tactical awareness "get out of my lane" is spammed in chat. But Rylai's isn't always the first thing you need to build, and if it is, clearly Viktor is lacking in "creative" and "tactical" item building and counter building. He then has a new problem, that Riot will then need to rework. The same issues that BRand had. The same thing that Riot goes in to try and "fix".

The rework didn't actually fix the core issues with Viktor, it only made him play out weird and is making it, at least for now, seem that you need to be less creative with his builds, even when his HexCore thingy limits diverse builds. So they are making him clunkier, less consistent/ less reliant, super niche, and limiting his successful build path (more than before it seems).

E is still strong, but it is not anymore rewarding for a longer delay. Two, even with rylai's, it is quite easy to dodge, move to sides of ray. I've played against a Viktor. They had some of the same issues i did with him.

If anything, he might be "hyper-niche" pick. As in, requires excessive planning and a specific comp around him.
