Can we revert Kindred back to their original kit?

PaffWasTaken··53 votes·13,486 views

I feel like their old passive, old W heal and general kit were far better and liked more before all those changes happened

Edit: I get why people would prefer a full rework rather than a revert, I aggree with this too but, lets be real, the chances that Riot reworks Kindred in the next 2-3 years are near 0

I disagree. In my opinion she should get proper rework and actually big changes rather than revert. She quite a lot lacks in counterplay and most of her abilities are generic AF. All she does is jumping around and clicking on you until she kills you. Not to mention that I really don't like infinite stacking mechanics as they often serve as an excuse for champion being stupidly weak early and outright unfair late when said champion is stacked enough. Her ult is actually the only thing I like about her and the only thing I like playing against when facing her as it provide some unique counterplay and makes the game more interesting exactly because enemy can hijack her ult just like Bards ult.

I feel exactly the same. Kindred uses two abilities to accomplish what Kalista does just by right clicking, their just a bargain bin Kalista that can jungle.

The biggest issue with their design is that it feels like Riot just designed their base kit with the intent of "make this marksman able to jungle" rather than making it interesting or unique.

TempName548461 votes

cause we need more "interesting and unique" champions that are able to do retarded shit that no other champion can do right?

Auurun1 votes

Yeah, I think they outright stated that they just wanted a jungling marksman, cause they saw few cases like that at the time. Since you've mentioned Kalista I gotta give something to Kindred... They achieve exactly what Kalista does (jumping around while shooting you down) in a slightly more healthy, less ridiculous way. Seriously Kalistas passive should've never been put in the game.

But back on track I think Kindreds Q is second ability that deserves to be kept in some form. IMO what they could do is just decreasing it's damage, but make it mark enemies hit and then require her to recast it shooting out an arrow in a straight line that consumes these marks (if one of marked enemies gets hit by this arrow all three marks get consumed dealing bonus damage, unless marked enemies are far apart enough that only the one hit gets bonus dmg). That's how I would handle this ability without changing it completely, but when it comes to her passive, W and E the changes here would probably be more drastic.

To be perfectly honest, I feel like Kindred's ultimate really doesn't fit her. Her entire kit pretty much is damage, and then she has an ultimate that can keep an entire team alive, as well as heal them, because... reasons?

Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting ult, but I feel like it would be better suited for another champion entirely.

Good point. I don't mind if she gets new ult, but wanted point out that this ult in of itself is not bad like some people think (people seem to often dislike abilities that give some agency to their opponent and think that the best design is when everything is centered around their own actions even tho it's not that great of a design in hindsight). Now that I think about it it's similar to Ryzes ult in that it has potential to be decent and even great great addiction to the game, but it ended up on not so fitting champion.

The Kindred decide when you die. Noone else.

maybe it's because you never saw the original version of her R? when kindred was released her R was an aoe that was capable of being placed. think something like morganas W. it made a LOT of sense thematically with her kit because you could place it on a camp and prevent someone from taking it from you. (for example if your opponent was about to take raptors, but you didnt want them to you could place it on the raptor and not on the opponent causing them to reposition or die to an invulnerable raptor. afterwords you'd come in and clear the camp.) because it was so useful for stealing baron/drake it got nerfed and is now currently an aoe aura that spawns directly below her feet. this change makes it inherently useless in most cases.

No, I remember that ultimate. I'm saying the "prevent target from death" doesn't make sense for Kindred. They would only appear to take lives, never to save them, and the ultimate doesn't reflect that.

But you couldn't place it anywhere, you had to target an ally and it would center the field on them. Problem is, it felt wonky and lead to teammates flaming for not casting your ult on them in a fight.

im pretty sure you could place it wherever you wanted it. people used to place it over walls on camps they thought were being taken.

It was only on allies

I'd honestly mess with their ult first, I really REALLY want them to change it, as just seeing Kindred picked on my team makes it wary because of their ult alone.

Then again I don't play Kindred myself so I can't say how useful it is, but as an ally their ult often feels more like a hindrance than helpful a lot of the time.

Recuro4 votes

Although I do like their current ult, I think if anything it should be the first to go. I think they would be much easier to balance if they had an offensive ult. That way they would have more windowed killing power as well as more reliable stacking potential.

As a current Kindred main, her ult's just fine. It's her feast or famine playstyle i have a problem with. Her low range - high damage invites her to be blown to shit because of her innate squishyness.

I use it most often to save teammates or the support/ not lane adc

The best way to use their ult is to be selfish with it. They're a squishy marksman and should only be using it to survive. If your teammates use it too, good for them

Slythion4 votes

god please don't make her viable in the bot lane again. Her passive heal was bullshit

Crit on jungle is bad design

Make me an onhit champion again. Nerf stacks to 1% max HP onhit from 1.25%.

Honestly, I feel like I like this change, she no longer feels dependant on her stacks to be relevant, they're just a bonus, and as a structure, her kit isn't all that different from the old one. She passed through a phase where she was terrible, but, while she's not in meta now, she's (they're?) sitting at a solid 50+% win rate atm.

CinnaBon Kittenz3 votes

Yes

Recuro3 votes

Nah, I like the current one much better. The bonus range in particular was a much needed change, as trying to scale into late game with 500 range was pretty unreasonable in my opinion.

TheOtherWoman3 votes

Yes, I want old kindred back but riot does not want to listen to us __

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

Why? They need fully reworked base abilities in either their past or current iterations.

Scopé2 votes

Well, people can say that they are not that bad RN. They can say that the rework fixed some of their problems and brought them back into the game... But honestly, I miss being able to melt tanks with few autos, healing on W with its sweet SFX and that satisfaction whenever you got a stack because you knew that you're getting closer to the point when a full tank Maokai will fear you. Over 600K mastery points and I find my main so... bland and not mine anymore.

I agree, i believe she works really well with press the attack runes and the press the attack smite enchantment (whatever its called) u can really shut down tanks with it erly game and if you are playing against a cc tank jg (like zac or sej) you have great counter jg pressure

Sir Pouncealot2 votes

How are they in a terrible state? Pretty balanced atm with a 50%+ win rate according to Champion.gg

Oh well sorry for having autism, nice to know you think I shouldn't have made it to Diamond two seasons in a row because I shouldn't be able to comprehend how an ability works.

"Adjust an ability because people are stupid, instead of expecting them to learn"

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

i wish her R moved with her at the center and had a 300 second cooldown and at each level grew larger/lasted longer. i wish her movement speed was 325 and grew with each stack of her passive. i wish her passive made her hunt specific champions randomly and camps actively by choosing which ones to hunt. i wish her Q shot an arrow for each keyframe of the flip instead of all at once. I wish her W did %missing HP damage and her E caused a bleed effect.

Laçez1 votes

At this point I'm just pissed that people want Kindred to change so much, She has been altered so many times and I have had to adjust each and every time. Do I like where they are now? I kind of do, even if their build path revolves around crit leading to quite static builds... but really I can't be bothered to see another change. Honestly all I want is more base movement speed.
