So i person can't main support and another role with the new champ select

Ryùuzaki··43 votes·3,610 views

because as far as i know whenever u pick support as a second role you will get support... you should make at least a cap for how many times a person gets his second role not every single ranked game...

lol some people. If you dont want to play support. Just don't pick it. You decided 2 games later you could use a change? Guess what NOW YOU CAN PICK SUPPORT! O. M. G. Problem solving skills What?

Auryiel8 votes

You're actively discouraged from picking support because that's all you'll get, which makes even more people not want to put support in their choice which only makes things worse...

Great system.

Please just go ahead and don't que support. I love my instant que times. :)

PS - I do see your point though!

Queue up. Attempt to click Firefox window in background immediately after GAME FOUND. It is quite wonderful.

think of it this way your trying to make teams even for a game and everyone has a role to play so everyone gets 1 of each but oh look no one knows how to play support so you have to find the 1 person who does and oh look this guy said he knows how to play support so instead of putting the guy who put mid and jngl as a support it puts the guy who actually has support as a roll they will play. TLDR: STOP PUTTING SUPPORT AS ONE OF YOUR 2 ROLES AND THEN COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE ROLE NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY

FearEngineer6 votes

I know this might be hard for you to understand, but there is a difference between wanting to support, and ONLY wanting to support.

ChaoticPinecone3 votes

He has a point though. Say you get support 4 games in a row. Dont want to play support 5 games in a row? Then in your 5th game, dont put down support. Thats like the one benefit of the new champ select - you can guarantee you wont get support for 5 games in a row.

As many fixes as Riot can implement (through recording match history and forcing a role change after a few games), it can easily be avoided by the user as well.

FearEngineer1 votes

Yes.

But the entire point of the discussion is that the differentiation between primary and secondary is not working as intended.

Some of us only like to play two roles... Mine are support and mid. If I queue mid and something else, I sure better be prepared to play it.

Sort of a rock and a hard place scenario. Although, as far as roles go I still like this loads more than fighting over them in first 30 secs...

Drohhan2 votes

i'm just disappointed that i have to take any other role other than top, tbh it's the only role i find enjoyable, i would get top lane 95% of the time last season.

Lauchmelder1 votes

Put Top/mid and still Play a toplaner in mid. Most toplaners aren't really a favorable matchup for the likes of Zed or Talon

Drohhan2 votes

sure, sure, but the minion management is completely different, a lot of other factors go into top lane other than the champions.

Taric the Gay2 votes

Put support as your primary role. You will get it less frequently than whatever you put as your secondary role.

Canidae3 votes

That doesn't work, lawl. The only time I don't get support queuing as Support/Mid is when I'm put with a duo feeding bot-lane.

This is true. I queue for jungle/top, I get top 9/10 games.

Shroom Junkie1 votes

Unfortunately its true. Freakin' Rito for some reason is trolling us and you'll get your secondary role more often... seriously how the fuck does a multi-billion dollar company screw something up as simple as that?

It's not riot's fault that the majority of the community hates the support role. But they might be able to implement some backup systems.

Yes, yes it is.

Support does not have to be a shit role. Riot is just horrible at anything but Esports.

All they have to do is buff support items to actually do something real so AP mages become fully viable supports and CC bruisers can also be supports.

No one wants to shield and heal all game, especially when its not even a tracked stat.

Xeynid2 votes

The way league of legends its structured, it will almost always be best for there to be one champion on your team with no gold income so that their AD carry has a protector, meaning they won't have the gold to get great items as fast as other champions, and their role in lane will be understated.

So replace all traditional and actual supports with mages like Annie, Brand, and Vel'Koz taken bot lane?

How is that helping supporting more than it's just making the game full of damage dealers?

THESuperStuntMan1 votes

I don't think that's the problem with support. Also it won't work because any strong item built for ap supports specifically would probably be better on a midlaner who has more money and can buy it sooner.

DarkRitual1 votes

If you think supports only need to heal and shield all game, then you have no clue about the role at all.

It's not Riot's fault that the community in general looks down on the role. Most people don't understand how to be proficient at it, since it's not the same as other carry roles. Make no mistake though, you can carry games as support still. 0/0/31 making good plays and getting everyone else fed is still carrying.

Support items are generally fine. Buffing them too much makes them too usable in other roles (the FQC effect).

The Rewritten4 votes

I'd say the biggest problem with the support role (especially in lower elo) is that players feel like they can't do their job right even if they use all possible resources.

Only 1 pink ward max, visible and easily taken down without protection. 1 trinket covering 1 spot on the map for only about 50% of the time, until you get Sightstone or Blue Trinket, which is 800g or level 9 (which we all know supports reach WAY later than other roles)
No purchasable additional wards.

This means only 1 or 2 wards on the map early game until mid-game UNLESS you give up your early support item upgrade (which I think is risky af). And then you get flak from your adc for allowing him to get ganked and killed while he still has 2 yellow trinkets in his inventory.

Add all of this bullshit on top of the fact that Riot makes you play the role almost guaranteed if you even give the slightest hint of interest in playing the role. And by guaranteed I'm talking 14 times out of 15, and that one time you get jungle or whatever other shit, someone dodges anyway. <- True story

DarkRitual1 votes

Early game, between you and your ADC, you should be able to ward well enough. Don't get too aggressive where you need to ward when you can't, unless your jungler helps out with wards or counter-ganking.

Jayrett1 votes

In lower elos, more often than not, adcs will just flame the sup for a ward and not ward themselves.

In ranked I either go mid or supp, when I put supp as my 2nd role I get it 95% of the times :/. I want to go mid, damn it! If I queue mid and jungle then the queue time takes ages....Something needs to be done about this. (just to be clear, I like supping but I main mid first and I'd prefer to get mid more often).

Carpe Victoria2 votes

Every 3 games or something DON'T CLICK SUP at all. Just pick something else. I believe in you that you can manage to play one other lane as a secondary. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Rook Loux1 votes

I think riot had mentioned the possibility of getting somehow rewarded for going supp, i wonder what happened to that

DarkRitual1 votes

It will likely need to go through a good bit of internal work before it gets to us. Back when they had been testing it internally and in set-size playtest groups, this was likely not an issue, since role preferences were much more balanced there. This was likely an unforseen issue, or at least the scope of the problem was not forseen.

DarkRitual1 votes

Here's an example of why this happens:

4 people queue up. Top/Mid/Jg/ADC are all set. 2 minutes go by waiting for a support. Another 2 minutes. Along comes John C Fillerton who queue's as Top/Fill. Oh look, someone to fill up this queue that's been waiting 4 minutes for a support.

Your primary/secondary has no priority/weighting when other queues have been waiting for a role you have selected as either option, no matter how many times you have played your secondary in a row.

Jayrett1 votes

he wants that if you get your primary/secondary so many times in a row that it forces you to the other for a game or two.

Hoodwink1 votes

I'm a support main, so I enjoy putting support.

It means I have no queue time at all.

Kairya1 votes

you don't aaaalways get support.

I am trying to practice Janna at the moment, so I usually put "Support" somewhere and yes I tend to get that role, but only about 75% of the games.

spavined1 votes

i get support the least ;_; i main fill

Clockwork Mouse1 votes

The system was flawed from the start. You should be allowed to just pick a primary.

jmaishere1 votes

I'm a jg/support main and my primary is always jg, but if I put support or fill as my secondary, guess what I always end up as...

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

weird. lately I've been getting other roles when I actively try to queue for support, most commonly jungler, but for some reason bot and mid have come up quite a few times if I supp/fill. never gotten a top lane, though, guess that's the contested lane this season.
