@Riot - There's something extremely wrong with Cassiopeia.

You know, I can't shake the feeling that you're treating Cass like some unwanted child - most of the time you're simply neglecting her but during moments where she manages to catch your attention she immediately becomes the target of abuse. Your history with this champion is by no means a happy one, it's a rather sad one.

We're all aware how you missed the mark with her rework: champion identity? Gone, her poison damage basically removed in favor of Twin Fang spam - and don't get me even started on the butchered lore. Playerbase? Drastically reduced by half (!) since the rework happened. Fun? There's nothing enjoyable about playing this binary mess while being chained to an extremely late powerspike which you'll probably never hit. Most of the time you're just playing a handicapped champion who doesn't get to reach their full potential.

Pre-season has turned this game into a hellhole for Cassiopeia due to games ending far too quickly all thanks to your extremely problematic snowball-mechanics. All she can do is try to survive for 40 minutes before becoming somewhat useful, and even then her lategame is vastly overrated and doesn't ever exceed a 50% winrate at that point (also let me remind you, her winrate's between 39-43% during the first 25 minutes). Care to remind me why she's worth the effort again?

But like I said earlier, MOST games don't even last that long. And you're still pretty much relying on your teammates to keep you alive, she's by no means capable of 1v5ing like she used to before the rework when she was capable of melting entire teams with her Q and W. It's beyond me how you could even consider a short ranged, squishy, immobile caster with a strict focus on single target-damage to be a RELIABLE hypercarry. This goes beyond common logic, it simply doesn't make any sense. Let's also not forget that she's unable of switching targets as easily as a real marksman.

Meanwhile your dear teammates have to deal with a rather passive midlaner while she's trying to stay in her safe-zone, the game's basically a 4v5 if you're trying to avoid death at all costs. And you REALLY don't want to die on Cassiopeia, every single second you spend on farming minions counts here. Unlike other champions, Cassiopeia's powerspike is gated through two instances - her passive stacks AND her gold income. And both are strictly linked to each other, falling behind in farm can easily ruin the game for her. Just ganking her 1-2 times in lane is enough to shut her down for the rest of the game.

Let me ask you, WHO even WANTS to play this champion anymore? Who can say they're enjoying themselves while playing this extremely unreliable and binary champion? Who even wants to see a Cassiopeia on their team nowadays? Your rework has caused far more damage than you could imagine, this has gone beyond mere viability at this point. I'm talking about Cassio's reputation here.

Have you seen how little sympathy Cassiopeia receives within the community itself? You're lucky enough to even find artwork of her (kudos to the talented people out there who have drawn her), let alone any merchandise. I don't even recall you ever granting her any fanservice - no summoner icon, no skins (it's been almost 3 years since Jade Fang Cass came out), no animations (neither fanmade nor official), no stickers, no figurine, simply NOTHING.

We're dealing with an ongoing history of negligence here, there's no doubt. Heck, even Mordekaiser's rework is receving more care and attention right now than Cassiopeia's back then, and since then you hardly tried to even make up for your shortcomings. Instead of raising to the challenge you tried your hardest to shove her carCASS under the carpet, it's too bad the noticeable bulge she left behind couldn't be easily ignored like that.

I simply don't understand you anymore. First you admit that she's in a bad spot with the initial rework failing to meet its goals, and yet you refuse to even touch her? I've checked the PBE countless times and she didn't receive any changes on there, what are you even doing with her? Yes, she needs another rework but that's no reason to let us wait for god knows how long until that happens. Didn't you say that you'd look into the immobile mage-update during mid 2016? That's most likely another six months of waiting, and YOU CAN'T EVEN GUARANTEE that she'll be affected by it.

Listen, all I'm asking for is something to work with until her time has come. Would it be too much to ask for a reversal on some of those nerfs she received between patch 5.2 and 5.10? I'm talking about manacosts, because her Twin Fang ability right now is just too expensive with its 90 mana (the same goes for her Q cost which was raised from 60 to 80). Also let's not forget the devastating nerf to her sustain by HALVING her mana refund and spellvamp ratio. The closest thing to a truly viable rework Cassiopeia was her 4.21-self so why not revert her to a similiar state until you've got her next rework ready?

Highly upsetting that they are all gung-ho to fix mordekaiser nonstop but still won't make the slightest effort to fix our beloved snake lady.

ltmetal26 votes

Keep hope. I think that is a sign that Riot's learning from their mistakes. A lot of their Mordekaiser changes were asked for repeatedly by his playerbase, and it's a sign that they have begun to listen to the community more closely. I sincerely hope that during the immobile mage rework they will do a Graves level gameplay update to turn her back into a poison mage.

Maybe they should have taken care of that a year (!) ago when the rework hit the PBE and everyone hated it.

And like OP said, her lategame is highly overrated..

I've hit her lategame only a few times but I don't feel rewarded whatsoever. More like she's no longer handicapped. In teamfights she's ridiculously easy to blow up.

And before some idiot comes and say Lux and Ahri are easy to blow up.. other mages have range and AoE damage

I don't think we should reply to the mongoose.. he's too good for us.. I'm sure he's owning everybody on Cass [slayer-jinx-catface]

Cassiopeia needs some sort of help while we're waiting for her kit to be reworked.

Perhaps slightly reduced stacks or revert the sustain nerfs..

The only people who complain she's op are those who don't take advantage of her glaring weaknesses.

My Ideas ->

"he least she should get is the Manacost revert on her E "Mana cost increased to 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 from 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 / 75" with the Manacost changes to Q, they are okay.

OR

Revert the sustain changes on her E "AP ratio reduced to (+ 6% AP) from (+ 10% AP) & Twin Fang Mana ratio on refund decreased to 1.5% of her maximum mana from 3% of her maximum mana. ". ( Or give her E a reset on lasthit wether its poisond or not like Annie Q)

TL;DR

Hotfix her with one of these changes until she recives forther rework fixes / a new rework.

Revert the insane manacost nerfs on E. ( More then 1 Trade without going OOM ) OR

Revert the Sustain nerfs ( Not having to E Lasthit 4+ Minions to get the mana back that you needed to Q them )"

gotta agree, I used to play cassie a lot, she used to be one of the main champs I played mid, heck I even used her as my safety mid when I played ranked and wasn't too comfortable with the opposing laner/ didn't know who they were yet. Now there's no good reason to pick her. Everything she has someone else can do better

Aoe Damage? Brand Syndra Orianna Katarina Ziggs they can all dish it out just as easily

Single target destruction? Akali Ahri Leblanc Kassadin Talon Zed Fizz they're better at it than she is

Annie has a more reliable teamwide stun Azir Lux Nidalee Velkoz and most of the above, along with practically 80% of mids have longer range than she does.

Cassie's only trick is the ability to get free stats from her boring and uninteractive passive. I would much rather play old cassie than new cassie because at least old cassie was fun and sure she may have had the machinegun playstyle then too, but you weren't only limited to that because her other abilities actually had damage instead of just her e, which back then didn't have an insane amount of damage unless you maxed that first, and even then a Q could easily outdamage it, rewarding you for skill. Her old passive kept up her spellcasting thanks to the reduced mana usage it gave, made it ideal to use Q and E then W so that the high mana cost on the W wouldn't be so high and there'd be an actual strategy on how to cast her abilities. Now it's just QEEEE hope they die, if not try again when cooldowns are back.

As of right now there's no real reason to play with Cassie thanks to how outclassed she is in everything. Her identity as a noxious poisonous DoT mage is long gone and now she's only seen as a walking machinegun, which only makes sense when using the Desparado Cassie skin.

Hell, It's simply riot not exactly being fond of admitting their mistakes. If you look at Stattik's QnA segment you'll see that they're reluctant to say Cassiopeia's and Mordekaiser's reworks were a failure. Both of them have way lower pick rates and win rates, which is saying something seeing that they were only played by a few hardcore mains.

And now with Mordekaiser being tweaked bit by bit, he'll be a O-K wishing two more months if this keeps up, I don't get why Cassio can get some changes herself. It's not like it's a big deal. A bandaid fix like they gave Zed (god...) might just suffice until she gets changes in the Immobile Mages rework. Or so I hope!

well for one thing my win record means nothing at the moment since i gave up play cass since riot made her worthless.i was very optimistic during the rework i could melt people with my E but then nerfs to her "up dated kit" came.now i can bearly half health a target without going oom.her old kit was basically the same the only difference was riot gut her ap scalings on her Q and W now the only reason to use Q W is to spam twin fangs.Cassiopias power before hand was not locked into an unskilled target spell like twin fang.what made or braked a cassiopia player was your skill in landing the poison.now thats not enough now you need to land the poison (which against some targets was a mirical alone)and then brainlessly spam her E.both kits cassiopia took skill to play but the newer kit takes skill AND makes her weaker then she used to be.Also since im stating such obvious facts may i ask what age are you?(im 17)You sound like a child every time you call others "kids" btw being called a kid doesn't bother me because i accept im not legally an adult yet Bye Peace out.

If you "like" her style ATM you would have loved her old style.

A Q and W who acually dealt good dmg, you didnt go OOM Infight after few seconds, you had a WAY bigger amount of possible Items to build and you didnt rely on your E to deal dmg... you were acually able to push without breaking your fingers and you didnt have to wait until the 35min mark to have impact.

CasterGilgamesh7 votes

well her old passive reduced the cost of her spells as she kept casting spells her Q and W had decent base damage and scalings her E had its cd reduced hitting targets who had poison but its base was good but a midcore scalings so it wasnt the biggest part of cass her ult was the same but even then it still had a better base and scaling damage overall the whole up date was meant to gate cassiopias power and make her even harder to play with no real reward

http://i.imgur.com/4YR1XTM.jpg

I wish I was joking. Cassiopeia used to be my main, and my first mastered champion. I used to dominate with her simply by harassing my mid laner and being patient for people to dive me- only to punish them in a 1v2 with my ultimate. However I can't pull off what I used to anymore, and she's so weak that even Annie, someone she was able to easily abuse can wreck Cassiopeia now. I find that utterly sad, and our lamia needs loving. Heck she hasn't been touched on, let alone been given a skin since three years ago while Jinx has gotten two skins within the same year*.

Riot please, I love you guys. I love your game, but it does hurt me when my first main is left in the dust this badly. Give her the respect that she deserves please.

Cassiopeia's kit does not allow her to ''hypercarry'' even when given proper protection.

She needs to be OP to work.

People upvote this thread because they've played this champion enough times to know that..

Once in a while you will face enemies who do not take advantage of her weakness. They won't know how to deal with her. And you will feel that she is strong or they will say she is toxic to play against

People who know her well, do not fear her damage AT ALL.

Thank you Canastus for sticking with Cassiopeia since the beginning. I'm a lurker on the boards but I've read almost every Cass thread, of which you have been a major voice and advocate for her.

I am curious to see how King Cobra finds her this season, a high level Cass player whom I also greatly respect. He's said in the past that new Cass is strong, but I'm still struggling with her the past several patches, maybe he's made a revision?

Anyways, thanks again for bringing her to board attention, as I'd personally love for her to fallback to her original style (of which even then there was a divide amongst maxing Q first compared to E) where she could appeal to a larger playerbase and actually mean something when behind.

Canastus5 votes

Cassiopeia holds a very special place in my heart, after all she's the reason I even started playing this game way back then. I saw her design and instantly knew I -had- to play her, I immediately saved up the necessay amount of ip and bought her. I've never looked back from that point on, all I wanted was to get good with her and so I practiced like a madman.

Before the rework happened I had around 1500 games on her alone, she was such a rewarding champion to master. But when patch 4.16 hit liveservers all of that changed and thus began my neverending quest for justice. Ever after playing 500 games with this new Cass I can't seem to enjoy her at all, she's just a shadow of her former self.

Queen Cassiopeia6 votes

King Cobra is ... akward...

He never changed his mind about Cassio. Wether if she was patched good, old cassio or the bad one right now... he is allways "Ok"...

RiotRiot King Cobra8 votes

I think Cassio is alright right now. She's not a top tier mid laner but she's probably tier 1 (with Viktor and Lulu being top tier). Despite what OP claims, Cassio's laning is amongst the still amongst the strongest. High elo players are still managing to find plenty of success with her. The Rod of Ages buffs really benefit her more than other mages since she isn't giving up CDR for it (like a Lulu, Lissandra, or Orianna would) and she can afford to go Sorc Shoes or Merc Treads as well (something other mages can't if they opt for RoA if they want to hit a CDR cap) so she gets additional power there as well.

I have no opinion on the supposed shift in her playstyle. I played Cassio before her rework because of her ability to duel (her single target damage) so I like the fact that Riot gave her a niche of being a mage that does super high single target dps as opposed to another AOE damage control mage.

All that being said, I think Cassio could use a few slight buffs. Personally, I'd like to see her passive stacks lowered because games seem to be shorter. If not that, I don't think it'd be a poor idea to reduce the mana cost of the later levels of Twin Fang.

Anyways, I can't stand the fact that people think her laning is weak. She becomes extremely annoying to lane against as soon as she so much as a mana crystal to enable her some all-in threat without going oom. Here's a video somebody uploaded of one of my games on Cassio after her nerfs (but before pre-season): Cass vs Viktor

If you watch that you'll see she's plenty viable still.

TL;DR: I think Cass is in an OK spot, could maybe use a buff to her passive or mana costs but that's it really for short-term stuff. Her laning is not weak by any means.

I wish they could just split her into two champions... Her reset mechanic is kind of interesting but her poison clouds are so much cooler visually and she really is the closest the game has to a DoT champion. I really want something that can spam debuffs on a target and get them to the point where they'll die even if they kill me first, or they try to get away but my poison kills them in the fog of war. But according to Riot that stuff isn't fun enough for me compared to the people whou would lose to it to justify making a champion like that.

I also don't understand how Cass can fit into a niche with how much mobility there is in the game and how many other options there are for her niche. Why doesn't Ryze end up in that niche when he still does ridiculous single target midrange dps while being tanky enough to take a hit? Why not Zyra who has better cc and has a MUCH STRONGER team fight ult? Azir seems to have the same potential for dps but he gets mobility, hard cc, and that ridiculous ult...

She is extremely, extremely unfun to play against.

If you're close,Cass will try to poison you with Q.Unlike Karthus, her delay is quite shorter, trading off range.Which means,if you're in her sphere of influence, you will most likely get hit.And one Q is a colossal stream of damage from repeated E's.

This results in a binary playstyle-Are you in my sphere of influence?Stat war.You lost the statwar?GTFO.This is the EXACT playstyle Riot wants to completely scour from the game.Champions need to have either clear, temporary windows of power or avoidable damage-else they become horrible-to-lose-against statchecks

Cass needs a better, deeper rework. My guess is that she will get it during the immobile mage rework.

I really do hope they change her again, and for the better this time.I had bought her and the Desperada skin several months before the rework and Shurima event were even announced. What I played then, and what she became definitely ended up pissing me off.Doubly so since that skin changed drastically from what I bought.I'm also not a fan of the forced E reliance.I wanted a poison mage when I got her,not this clunky mess.

If I had to suggest anything I'd take some kind of poison damage stacking mechanic applied from using her abilities over the awful passive and E spam we have currently.

magic pole5 votes

she was my first or second "main" when i started playing at the end of season 3. I remember Cassiopeia Bot getting suuuuper fed consistently in bot games and thought id try her out. She was tricky, but fun, and rewarding when played well.

So i rolled her in ARAM last night (kinda wish i didn't have her unlocked anymore...bought her pre rework) and was reminded why i stopped playing her. FYI we won and I did 60k damage, 20k+ more than any other player in the game. So great I did awesome right?! I guess, but it wasn't fun in the slightest. Instead of landing relevant poke with Q, and having the option to level Q first, you just fish for hits with Q. Land one? proceed to go all in mashing E as fast as possible. Wasn't fun for me, and sure wasn't fun for my opponents who, if they ate one Q, instantly lose half HP and/or die.

her kit seems like it would be rewarding..you have to scale up and get through early/mid game to really get strong (oh wait...games are WAY more snowbally now...late game is more of an unusual occurrence these days). Then, you have to hit a fairly difficult skillshot to unlock her damage.

It's hard to put my finger on it, but just mashing E as fast as you can isn't engaging. Please, her abilities still function basically the same, it's just that 95% of her basic ability damage is died to E. PLEASE RIOT just redistribute that damage from E to mainly Q, and some more into W.

as it stands, she is no poison mage. Poison in games always calls to mind DoT. Cass? Not a DoT mage. Scaling hyper carry (as she always was and should remain imo), whose damage is point and click. Basically a magic damage spell marksman. Marksmen damage is tied to point and click aa...this is basically what Cass is now.

Lastly, there is no DoT mage in this game. While she wasn't a pure DoT mage before, why can't more of her damage be DoT. It would honestly be more unique than what we have now.

and don't gimme that "she was played in the LCS" crap. yeah, because her damage is STUPID and those highly coordinated teams can set her up for success. She's a liability for your average everyday team of casuals (probably the vast majority of player base)

I think they'll deal with Cass when another Rioter has a great idea with her. It's probably still a bit of a sore spot over there.

Sore spot or they are just too busy to work with her? Part of me wants to think that rework team is busy with other stuff and they had no room in the pipeline for the followup she needs.

Well, even if it WERE a sore spot, of course it's a combination. It's not like I expect the balance to team to be sitting around twiddling their thumbs, having conversations like:

Rioter #1: Hey, haven't we been sitting here long enough? Shouldn't we rework Cass already? Stashu: Too soon, man. Too soon.

Of course they aren't. They're working hard on better ideas. That's mostly what I mean. When they have a better idea specifically about Cass, they'll pick it back up.

And not long before Cass's rework was the Xerath rework which had a huge number of iterations and multiple threads where the designer was engaging with fans of him, Cass had none of that and there was a ton of negative feedback that was completely ignored, it was more like. HEY GUYS SHURIMA EVENT CASS IS IN SHURIMA NOW SO SHE ALSO GETS A FREE REWORK DO YOU GUYS LIKE IT "No this is terrible, give us back the old one" TOUGH SHIT BYE

They don't know how to balance her. She is either too strong or too weak due to her kit, and you don't use her in ranked. unless you are LCS with a premade built around her. And I think they lost too.

I think it's more than that. I don't think they know what she should be and her fans want her to be something that riot doesn't want her to be.
