To whomever it may concern: What exactly is wrong with Urgot?

Rude Name··2 votes·399 views

This isn't a post saying Urgot is balanced and healthy. However, after recently picking him up, I discovered he was actually really fun to play. I still haven't gotten many games under my belt as him, but I want to know why exactly he is considered outdated.

I'm looking for anyone's advice or opinion, because my belief is that he doesn't need a massive rework. He just needs a clever adjustment to some of his kit, and then he'll be back in business.

Urgot is, by far, among the visually ugliest champions in game. He's a walking sack of barely functioning organs to which an assortment of machine parts have been clumsily and horrifically grafted.

He might be suffering from the very condition that afflicted Trundle in which players just didn't pick him before his gameplay and visual update because of his grotesque appearance.

long cast animations, a below average attack range (425 compared to the standard 550), ability based instead of auto based.

hes pretty much just sluggish overall. its not that his abilities are bad, they're just not good enough to carry him through his faults.

I do agree he feels sluggish, but that kind of feels thematically appropriate? Eh, that's pushing it. What are his faults though?

  • Mana hungry

  • Close range

  • No escapes

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but isn't that fair? His weaknesses are well defined, which is admirable.

Or are you talking about other faults, the inherit kind hidden in his kit?

He's just got a very clunky kit. His passive is just bland, hidden power that doesn't appear to do much, and it could use some spicing up. His ult is most iconic, and should probably stay, though it's weird because it would be more fitting as an engage for melee, especially since Urgot doesn't have any crowd control to make the best of swapping himself into the enemy lines. His Q operates off of his W and E, and while a novel combo idea, it's not very intuitive and is sluggish and clunky because part of his combos rely on a shield that will pop fast due to the conflict in his ranged nature versus his bulkiness. He just needs a lot of streamlining to be made smoother.

That, and he's ugly as hell.

No one plays him is his only downside

Edit: and they alienated all the urgot mains by reducing his q lock on range in like season 3
