Making Poppy's Q scale with Total AD versus Bonus AD fits better with her identity and build
Hey all! I've noticed that Poppy is a bit on the rough side with a win-rate in the mid 40 percents for both Jungle and Top. I love her rework, as an old Poppy main its almost everything I could has asked for.... almost.
My issue is her scaling. Her W requires her to build tank to get real benefit out of it, which is fine because free tankiness was part of the problem with old Poppy, but all of her damage scales with lowish bonus AD ratios. This leaves her in a weird spot where she can really only one or two slots for offensive items, and they just don't do much for sparing them. Her best bet is Black Cleaver since she has %max HP and low scaling, but this still feels lack luster. Steraks gage is recommended on her, yet she gains very little from the bonus base AD without also building a sheen proc item. Since she is in desperate need of Armor Pen if you want to do that you're committing three items to pretty much offense, which leaves your W scaling rather weak.
My proposal is based on how old Poppy played out. Her Q HURT. It hurt hard because it was pretty much all the damage in her kit. Now I'm not asking for that same level of damage. But I do feel that swapping her Q over to Total AD helps her build path a bit and cements the fact that her Q is dangerous and a really big hit. This would also mean it naturally scales as the game goes on leading to scenarios where you could situationally max other abilities like E or W. Naturally the number would need some tweaking but I believe it would be worth it. Don't let our little Yordle hero sit in obscurity after her big day!
