with so many threads being are about the ballancing of the game overall than single cases of champions being op (you might think zed, but he is about mana nerfs not being followed by energy nerfs on midlane, not about champion being op, zed is just the sole maneless midlaner in current meta who wasnt nerfed beforehand, yasuo and kata had their uprisings before that) i would like to ask riot or someone who knows if the game is ballanced around lcs why is it that we dont see the lcs chapion pool to be growing if riots main objective is the pro scene ballance then we should see that lcs finds most champions ballanced and picks according to situation instead of having a small pool of champions that are good in every condition you can place them because they are just better

the problems i personaly find to have effect here are -mobilty isnt propertly taxed in champions powerbudget, so it feels more like untaxed bonus on top of your ballanced powerbudget -defense vs offense interactions fawour damage, the only defense we see ppl taking up is usualy meant to keep them alive after they find their damage to be enough for killing a carry -riot nerfing instead of ballancing, when champion with toxic kit becomes strong riot just nerfs them to keep them away from the spotlight instead of removing toxicity from their kits easy example is akali, she was toxic because he was point and ckils 100% sure burst on top of brute sustain and barely any cooldowns instead of making her playstyle more interactive riot just cuts her numberd and ways of getting her damage off another example is yasuo, where he scales too hard with items causeing insane powerspikes on top of his brute gapclosing which is again point and click, i dont even take his ult which is totaly unpredictable into account. instead of fixing his toxic problems riot just nerfed his numbers, for like 4 consecutive patches

the problem that follows this up is that those champions will rise again and riot will repeat the cycle again

my personal opinion is that riot doesnt know what do they want to archieve with their ballance themselves, which makes it look like they just toss random ideas on the board to make it looking like they do their work, which in the end causes them to have more work on their shoulders

It's intended that offense trumps defense.

  • Dealing damage requires an action from the attacker. And in most cases has a positional requirement, cooldowns and a resource cost.
  • Soaking damage is purely passive. The act of avoiding damage through dodging and positioning does not rely on your stats.

Offense should beat defense. If you don't remember the league of tanks meta that existed for a while you won't understand how annoying have super strong tanks was.

Nerfing is balancing. How are you arguing it's not? Nerfing is the easiest balancing to. Buffing causes just as many issues, but there's a lot more that can go wrong when making 10 changes vs 1. Not to mention that 'toxicity' in kits is highly subjective and most people just go with whatever killed them last.

Offense should beat defense.

yeah i screwed up that argument, it totaly misses what i wanted to say

defense is more than offense, easy way to check it to compare an adc building dmg and make him hit a tank but then there is last whisper which totaly turns the situation around the thing i would like to hint here is that riot didnt ballance offense vs defense interactions, they just made an item that removes defense, this is what is a problem when ballancing damage vs defense
