Please remove MMR from the Ranked Ladder.

MMR is in place to help match players against other players of equal skill.

In essence, that is the complete opposite of a competitive environment. The Ranked Ladder should be based on Win/Loss alone.

Right now, if you have a high MMR the system tries to balance you our with players of lower MMR on your team, essentially giving you crappier players. If you have low MMR the system tries to balance you out with higher MMR players so you can get carried up the ladder?!

This basically just flip-flops back and forth keeping you at a median win/loss ratio. What the fuck is this?!

"But then the LCS guys will just 5 man to the top of the ladder!"

Should they really be allowed to play in the PUBLIC Ranked Ladder after joining an LCS team?

No, limit them to custom games and normal play. They're already getting paid to play and practice, why are they clogging up the public ladder where us mere peons are attempting to hone our skills to get to a paid-to-play level?Hell, they already "scrim" against each other (what the fuck is this anyways? Why are they playing games vs each other prior to the actual competitive showing?! --- Seems so illogical and counter strategic.)

Open up the fucking doors so that the eSports League can grow exponentially. You don't see MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL players actively playing in the "minor leagues" unless they've been cut from the team or sent down to that level to practice. They don't play at both levels at the same time. Create some separation.

"But what about the ones that stream to make money on the side?!"

They will still stream Normal games. You will still watch them to learn some tips/tricks.

While you're at it, remove Promotion Series from Gold 4 to Gold 3, etc. It's fine where it is from Gold to Plat, Plat to Diamond, etc.

Got some arguments for or against this? Let's hear it. Don't be scared to show yourself as a down voter. I welcome all opinions.

I'm confused, how is playing against players of equal skill to you the complete opposite of competitive play? And matchmaking doesn't match you with players with lower mmr to balance things, the only time you're intentionally matched with players with lower mmr than yours is when they're in a premade, and thus are thought to have an advantage. The only time you're intentionally matched with players with higher mmr than yours is when you're in a premade. there's no conspiracy where mmr is rigged to keep you at a 50% winrate.

I agree that MMR shouldn't be used for a ranked game but I disagree with your solution. I think there should be a range. ±1 or ±2 of your rank. So if you're gold 3, you should be matched with gold 2-4 or gold 1-5.

I'd probably start playing LoL again if they made matchmaking more fair. I lost the last game of my series to plat because they had a 3-man premade with a plat 2 Akali versus our gold 3 Yasuo. She ate him for breakfast and threw him up on us.

And you're right. If your MMR is high, they will group you with low MMR players to "balance" the team. Well, it's not really balanced if you play a non-carry role and your low MMR carry is against their high MMR carry.

Pros need practice too dude. For pros, ranked is their normals. They use that time to practice champions and make sure they can lane effectively. Honestly, I don't see there being any problem with them being able to play ranked. Besides, most of them play on different accounts anyway so there's no real way to even monitor it.

You know what? The issue is not MMR. It's the Ranked design itself.

There should be no "Dynamic Queue", "Solo Queue" or "Duo Queue". These game modes simply do not foster team play in a team play sport.

The choices to play on Summoner's Rift should be as follows:

Dynamic Draft - Normals

Dynamic Blind - Normals

Teamplay Draft - Ranked (Requires 5)

Why?

You practice your solo skills in normals play, when ready and when you have 5 friends online (any combination) you can enter Teamplay Draft.

What does this accomplish?

It supplies an outlet for solo players to practice and a separate area to test your teamplay skills. This will provide a clear separation of solo players and teamplayers.

Why is this good?

It allows those who wish to take the game seriously a path to do so and for those who take the game casually an area that doesn't effect the ladder.
