Why not just take things slowly and split contents into 2 patches?

It's not like League of legends is gonna die in a year or Riot games is gonna shut down

Like, there's so much stuff on pbe, and 90%of the time it goes through I legit think that if it was riot from season 4, they'D split this into 3 patches ( balance changes, Armor nerds, and Juggernaut changes) There's so much going on, that someone somewhere is definitely gonna f up and mess the game right before worlds

We're putting a lot of stuff in 5.16 for a few reasons:

  1. These are changes that have been developed together that tie in with each other. The state of Morde, Garen etc is going to be highly impacted by the items available to them. Releasing champ changes and items separately means having to wait longer to get a true read on how they interact with each other.

  2. After 5.16 we want to start focusing on balance and stability as we prepare for the patch Worlds will be played on (most likely 5.18). Putting all the disruption into one patch, and then taking a couple to balance it, gives us more time to catch issues than spreading it out over 3 patches and then not having any reaction time to issues that emerge in the third patch.

  3. We feel we've been a bit too conservative in the past in the run up to Worlds. Worlds should involve a stable patch, that teams can focus on, ideally with any massive balance outliers. That's not to say it should reflect a game state that's been unchanged for so long it's starting to feel stale though. It's about two months until Worlds right now, which we feel's a good time to introduce some change before, as above, shifting gears to balance/polish.

You scared tons of ppl with those sudden buffs and changes. I do admit that they should provide more competitive environment for Worlds but then again some changes are not really that welcome (Lee, Zed buffs).

Also would you be so kind and inform me about state of Veigar? He doesn't seem particulary weak but at some point in the game his kit feel really unreliable comparing to top dogs like Viktor and Azir. Can you at least improve his gameplay somehow?

TL:DR - Tank meta is boring. PROCASH plays need to be in worlds. Nerf all tanks, buff all the flashy champs.

Need that flashy muhplays for worlds, dont care about balance of the game.

This is a concerning statement. So you create items so that a champion rework (that nobody wants) is viable?

I don't know how you got that from what he said. The reworks are tuned not just based on the new items being released (that will have varying levels of synergy with the reworked bruisers) but based on the changes they're also making to existing items that they like to buy. They're not making items to make the reworks viable at all (that would be pointless, every other bruiser can benefit from the new items anyway), but they're smart enough to realise how much time they'd waste (and how many more mistakes they'd likely make) if they had to balance all four of those reworks around what their items are like before the changes AND what they're like after.

Releasing everything at once just saves a lot of headaches.

All items are designed relative to the state of the game. Similarly all champions are designed relative to the state of items. If you're planning on putting in some new items and you're also planning on doing new champions. Then putting them together makes the most sense if those champions heavily rely on those items or vice versa. Otherwise you're just releasing weak champions and/or weak items. And no one really wants stuff they won't/cant use

im not in any way insinuating that a patch cycle is enough time to polish/balance new changes, but what purpose does the pbe serve if most of the content that's put on there is shipped to live with little to no changes? a lot of the balance issues are caught during testing on the pbe and, while it's mostly subjective reasoning, is still valuable feedback. the last thing i can remember not making it to live that was on the pbe was vladimir nerfs, which i find to be hilarious

Not saying you guys are doing this on purpose, but it really feels like you guys are buffing the flashy plays champions right before worlds, while nerfing the more stable champions.

Example, Lee sin getting buffs feels like you guys can't go through worlds without having him dominate the meta, so you are ensuring that lee sin just has to kick the tank back toward the enemy back line for an instant double/triple kill and a won teamfight. It means that any high HP champion like sion or cho is only going to be a liability for the lee sin kick damage.

You'll find a lot.of issues to catch in the Juggernaut and Tank item changes.

Also, to me it's like Sterak's Gage was made with Garen in mind and Titanic Hydra with Darius or is it the other way around?. I coulf be wrong either way, but I think riot are amping up the bad guy, good guy theme with Darius and Garen.

What I get from this is that Morde is going to go live despite the feedback from the community. I guess if you are not Lee Sin you don't get a change rectification.

While you may have been traditionally passive in the lead-up to Worlds, you have significantly changes the map in recent patches already. The introduction of Runeglaive and Sated Devourer have massively changed the pool of junglers being picked, which in turn will affect the champions played in each lane.

Perhaps, rather than introducing more sweeping changes and new items immediately, it may be beneficial to wait until Preseason 6 to introduce sweeping changes to itemization and the Juggernaut reworks. There appears to be a lot of controversy surrounding the reworks for Garen, Mordekaiser, Skarner and Darius at the moment. The community may appreciate more time for feedback and testing on the PBE before the changes go live.

"Worlds should involve a stable patch, that teams can focus on, ideally wit[out] h any massive balance outlier"

And this is why we're introducing a massive patch with large and potentially unknowable balance implications right before worlds.

I wrote something about this about a year ago and i think its even more important in light of this comment.

edit: Brackets are my edit. That is what I assume you intended to say rather than "with any massive balance outlier"
