PSA that Tristana's passive sucks
Think about it.
s entire passive is just about getting more range as she levels up. It provides nothing else for her kit except this.
and
will exceed her max level passive range just by putting points into their abilities which also provide additional benefits on top of the range increase. At max rank of Jinx's Q she gets 700 range while Kog'Maw gets 710 while Tristana gets 669 range at level 18. You might say to me, "But Specter, different kits have different strengths and weaknesses, you need to take the whole kit into account", which is actually correct, but here's the kicker.
Has **650 **range, it isn't part of a passive or ability or factored into her power budget, she just has 650 range. This means that until level 16 (When her passive increases her range to 655) Tristana has less range than Caitlyn does. Also factor into this that Caitlyn not only has 650 range on her auto attacks but her Q has 1250 range, her W can be placed at 800 range, her E has 950 range, her ultimate has 2000/2500/3000 range, AND her passive increases her auto attack range to 1300 (The highest auto attack range modifier in the game).
Everything Tristana has in her kit can only be used within her auto attack range (Yes her W has a range of 900 but it's a dash, meaning to deal damage with it you need to move yourself on top of your target), every single other Marksman in the game has an ability they can use to effect things outside of their attack range, most of them being fire and forget abilities that deal a chunk of damage or CC an enemy so they can auto attack them.
Now, getting to my point. I don't think Tristana should be given an ability that effects things outside her range. In fact, I think too many ADC's have these kinds of abilities. I do however think that if a champion has a passive dedicated solely to increasing their auto attack range and has no means of effecting enemies outside of that range that she should at the very least have more range than someone that doesn't have any requirement for their range.
Because, yes, Tristana does get more range than Caitlyn at level 16, but even at level 18 Tristana only has 19 more range than her and the number of games that actually go on long enough for the ADC to hit level 16 are few and far between, at most, level 16 for the ADC is the level they'll be at when the game ends. So there's never a reason to pick her for her range because by the time she gets more than Caitlyn it's taken too long for it to make a difference.
And if someone brings up kit comparisons here. Tristana needs to use her W and R in order to accomplish the same thing that Caitlyn does with just her E, Caitlyn's passive gives her both a steroid and a range increase while Tristana's kit has to fill two slots to do the same with her passive for range and her Q for a steroid.
Point is, if a champion is going to have an ability that isn't overloaded and does just one thing then it should be damn good at it and shouldn't be outclassed by someone just getting more range for free from the get go.
