That shield and extra income are important, you know. If things go south, you need those extra Spoils of War charges to catch back up, or your support tank is going to be left in perpetual poverty, especially since the FOTM line doesn't give a GP/10 bonus.
Additionally, since FOTM lets you execute minions more easily, it helps with counterpushes in a pinch.

darkdill2 votesThe thing is, I don't even see people get Targon's Brace early on. With only Relic Shield, you only get a charge every minute as opposed to every 30 seconds.

I even don't bother often because tier 2 boots, sightstone, oracles, vision ward, and MR/Armor end up having a higher priority at the same time. Depends on the situation and the gold I have on me (if I have 1900g and they have 3 strong AP, I'm definitely ignoring Targon's and getting Aegis.)
