I see alot of ppl going 9 points in utility on their midlaners so they have biscuit instead of pots. I always ingored this because LCS dickriding is lame, but as my faceroll train takes me closer and closer to high elo im trying to stay as competitive as possible. Is it worth sacrificing the defensive masteries for those 9 points in utility?
What about on an assassin like talon?

its debatable. and all depends on playstyle. If u tend to trade a lot, dont do it. If u tend to kite a lot then do it.
I basically only play Zed and Talon, go into defense, It is much more beneficial than what utility can ever do for you.
Mages? Sure. I would say you can do that on mages that work well with CDR/MS or ones with shields to make them naturally "tanky."
I take the utility because I have a potion problem, but it's a preference thing so far as I can tell.
I take utility cuz I don't see 9 points in defense as helpful? glass cannon mids for lyfe
and i dont tend to take damage often anyway
