Olaf is extreamly strong and i cant belive people cant see this.

Seriously. When people say Olaf is weak it really makes me question their decision making process.

His lane dominance and kill pressure is higher than pantheons, yet he drastically out scales pathron. He has ranged harass, sky high base damage, and an ability that can give him up to 70% lifesteal or more..... AD Olaf is unkillable with his W activated..... Dont even get me started on the power of his ult and the fact that his abilities cooldowns scale off attack speed.

There is literally nothing bad about this champion.

He's strong but extremely kitable. That's the issue people have with him.

Except... he is not really kitable or peelable. I dont know where people got this idea from.

I play olaf to pop ghost and run straight through an azir ult, run straight through a janna ult, ignore vaynes condemn etc etc.... olaf is impossible to peel. On top of this he has a perma slow if u land ur axes. Olaf is not easy to kite whatsoever. Especially when u compare him to the other options like garen, renekton or nasus.

People are just not using their heads when it comes to olaf

I could say a lot of the same about Viktor, how he's super powerful and oppresive, ect ect but that is because I'm super biased toward him. Olaf does have his faults though. Miss an ax and you're probably not going to catch them without ghost. League is full of champs that have dashes and blinks to get through terrain, unlike Olaf. Olaf excels at low HP but high burst champs usually kill him outright before he can heal. I'm happy that you can wreck face with him though.

edit: using their heads. That's how you play olaf. Head first.

My brain doesn't work like that tbh. I don't look at things through my biases, i actually disregard bias when trying to form an opinion. Its called looking at things objectively.

Im talking about this champions strength simply because its the truth, and for no other reason. The groupthink and memes about his badness are simply incorrect.

As for Viktor he actually is very much a sleeper powerhouse, anyone should be able to see that. the reason champs like olaf and viktor are seen as bad by the community is because people are relying on groupthink, not objective analysis, to form their opinions.

Major Sparkles1 votes

Exactly. However, from my **personal **experience Olaf falls flat on his face every game I see him in. I don't think their performance has anything to do with group think.

it's funny you mentioned victor. You're absolutely right. Viktor can curbstomp an entire team by him self. Don't have much experience with Olaf, but from the few games i've played against him, he has insane burst, sustain and that ult is pretty damn good. Frozen Mallet seems like a must have on him, other then that he can build whatever.

AtheosisX1 votes

So why don't the pros play him?

SKT T1 Oppa1 votes

4 years later... He is not kitable... He might get a kill but the only champs i could think of that could run away from olaf is kaisa and ezreal... his ult plus righteous glory and ghost haha run away from 940 movement speed barbarian that has a slow that he can perma stack on you.. but that's not the point, pros do play him, and they did 4 years ago as well pretty sure

Genocide Victim1 votes

LOL What. Is this a serious post? I can't believe it...cc immunity and resetting aoe slow nuke

GloriousKaiser3 votes

You say this, yet the stats speak for themselves. Yet regardless of winrate, pros, and people who follow them should be able to acknowledge this. Especially since they got analysts doing this data collection for them.

You can list all those strengths, (and leave out the glaring weaknesses) but in the end, Riot did the job and lobotomized him.

Q harass => Have fun running out of mana for all ins/trades W Activated => Look at all the ranged, mobile, tops that have migrated from other places because Riot bi-weekly nerfing sprees. "power of his Ult" => You mean the ult where he loses stats to be able to resist the knock-up community in the name of "Meaningful choices" and "Counterplay"?

Alone, his kit might have actually been good, but this is the mobility meta. Ghost, Ghostblade, and Furor boots won't help him here.

EDIT: If he ever gets strong again (I believe he will), it will be because of the eventual nerfs that every champion will receive. You've seen it before (if you've been playing from previous seasons) and you'll see it again. Champions come and go, metas change, things change. But what's left behind are broken kits and null functional champions who have to rise once again only to be nerfed again until they're nothing. Kassadin Those champs may have been gimmicky, annoying, OP. But what Riot does? Doesn't fix any problem, it just shifts it, breaking other champs.

my only reason for not playing olaf is because whenever i do the enemy team always seems to have kalista -.-

soliznoel1 votes

I haven't been playing this game for too long, but from what i can tell olaf used to be significantly stronger than he is now like ALOT. I think he's pretty strong right now tbh, people just want him to be as strong as he used to be.

And did any one even ask for olaf nerfs back then?

Oh yeah. He was insane.

I'm going to assume you got cheesed by Olaf top lane early lmao.

Olaf has a huge share of his own problems. 6 seconds of CC immunity just isn't enough to rip through an entire enemy team. His 1v1ing is very potent but his teamfighting is pretty weak. He has no defensive steroids after activating his ultimate and just gets killed if you're not ahead. I'm pretty sure his W doesn't give him 70% lifesteal, and is only good for sustaining on creeps. Useless ability in teamfights. Oh yeah and you're useless if you miss Q in a teamfight.

You are such an idiot. Check my match history, i didn't get cheesed by olaf. I'm 100% winrate with olaf and i made this thread after wrecking another game with him. MYSELF I'm not one of you kids you can't make an objective opinion about a champions strength.

Im pretty sure you are extremely unexperienced with olaf and don't know how to build him. First of olaf needs hydra, when he has this item his lifesteal becomes insane. W is a 80% AS steroid that gives 20 lifesteal plus gives olaf 1% enhanced healing from all sources for every 2% of his missing health. Imagine you are missing 90% of your health....get the picture bro?

I routinely am healing 300-400 HP per auto attack with W, and in a group of tightly packed enemies you can literally 1 vs 3 for the duration of your W.

Useless ability my ass.

So you have 10% health and five people sit together in a tight circle and refuse to kill you.

not even gonna bother looking you up, but if you have a 100% winrate with that kind of a strategy and build, i'm pretty sure it's some kind of low elo environment where you can wreck with ap riven or something.

cya, not saying anymore.

Peace. if you aren't building hydra on olaf your opinion about him is 100% worthless anyways.

Well according to op.gg you are 100% with 2 games on olaf, in *gold 5. *Do you honestly think you're qualified to be speaking about olaf ? Maybe you should objectively analyze how bad you and everyone else is in that elo, and how such a low sample size means jack shit.

To me Olafs real problem is he needs a teamcomp around him. He he has no dive buddies and the other team has a beefy enough tankline, they can isolate him and kill him before he has any backup. He is oppressive, but only if he is ahead imo. If he isn't fed, he just doesn't offer enough pressure on his own, something other champions can do without similar amounts of gold.

I think he is fairly strong right now and can definitely be a monster in the top lane or jungle if you know how to play him. Similar to J4 before he's probably undercover OP. When J4 passive and mana on his w was buffed a while back it felt like he could be strong but he wasn't used for months and people thought he was still weak because "the EQ changes gutted him." However the second he made his appearance in the pro scene everyone and their dog started using him so now he's banned almost every game. Unfortunately for Olaf although I think he's in a good spot he won't be used in the pro scene unless the mets shifts. He's not good enough in the jungle because he doesn't have a gap closer which makes his ganks unreliable at that level of play. He's fine top but he doesn't offer what the likes of a Maokai does in terms of peel and zoning and if you want to kill their back line your better off going on someone like a rumble or lissandra so he doesn't shine too much their either. For that reason he probably won't see professional play and no one will have any reason to believe he's strong. Still if he is OP then those who recognize this can still abuse him for solo que wins before anyone catches on. An ult that resist all forms of cc, perma aoe slow, and ridiculous damage definitely is something to be taken seriously.

Hes doesn't really have mana problems, he is one of the top laners who have a free harass spell that costs health instead of mana. Healh that you can easily LS back with ur W.

Q should only be used against a tough, or ranged lane or if you have kill pressure. In a normal situation he shouldn't have too much problems

Olaf isn't doing squat if he can't get to and stick to his target. Mobility is Olaf's hard counter, and mobility is what's big right now.

Raja Chachki1 votes

He is pretty good, especially when played by OddOne. Did you know that he can solo a dragon at lvl 3?

Kazamaru1 votes

So I mean, I think Pantheon is trash and Olaf is solidly playable. So comparing the 2 seems silly.

But to get to your points, he is a strong early game champion with an ult that allows him to straight-up kill someone who is out of position. The problem he has is that he loses to split-pushers in a duel and he can just get bursted down in a teamfight because he has to be in your face to do anything. Though in low elo, this doesn't really matter because people are out of position 24/7 and you can just gank split-pushers because they have no idea of when they have overextended.

Genocide Victim1 votes

Who doesn't see it? lol Olaf has been an issue for a long time. They keep reworking champs that don't need rework (Graves, Irelia) but Olaf remains in his absurdly broken state
