The anti RIOT rhetoric is getting out of control.

Guys please calm down, we sound like a hate group. So what ahri is broken... they will take care of it next patch so why get so butthurt?

Does the fact that Ahri is strong make leauge less fun? NO. It actually makes the game MORE interesting to have new threats and new must ban champions. if you don't like challenges then why do u even play video games?

I think it should be clear to everyone that the purpose of a balance team is NOT to make every champion have the exact same powerlevel, that would be stale and boring. The point is to REBALANCE the game, bring fresh blood into the scene, keep the bans changing and give the game new and exciting challenges. This is the way video games work and there is nothing wrong with this.

Riot is a BUSINESS, they balance the game like this for a REASON, and thats why lol is the most popular game in the world right now. Chill with the hate guys, the balance team at riot knows exactly what they are doing.

You gotta be joking right theres a 120+ champions and only 20 get played or banned 80% of the time in ranked now tell if every champ is viable.

Give some names.

Do u know the difference between unviable and unpopular?

And how many of those champions are mirror copies of whatever the pros played last? Honestly I think pro games influence things way more than actual balance does.

When Zilean was picked in World's for his global passive, people spammed the crap out of zilean in normals/ranked. And while he certainly was an annoyance to Mid-lane assassins Zed Fizz Talon

Other, "true" mages had a VERY easy time. ( Hell i was playing Malzahar for the first time and moped the floor with their zilean)

So many more examples I can quote, but to quote Phreak " Professionals play champions because they are bullsh*t", is very true. Nobody should attempt what the professionals are doing unless they're in a team of 5 and play at the highest level i.e challenger.

Certain stuff was stupid ( like mid janna), but Riot has to be more cautious about pro game influences on actual balance

It's League's spin on the Colbert Bump. Any champion featured heavily in the LCS (or by especially popular streamers) is going to be spammed in solo queue since that champion is 'obviously' good if the pros are using it. It's so well-known to be true that if the LCS commentators see a weird pick they'll occasionally snark that solo-queue is going to be fun for the next couple days due to this.

This will always be the case in a game like league. Even if everyone was really close to each other in terms of power, everyone will clamor for even the smallest advantage. Unless everyone had the exact same kit there will be a meta.

No the problem is not making everyone have the exact same power level the problem IS MAKING CERTAIN CHAMPIONS NOT VIABLE AT ALL. They don't know what their doing if their core hardcore audience and casual audience has a problem with these changes.

What champion is "not viable"?

What champion is "not viable"?

Well, despite being picked in one of the LCS matches this weekend I hear from multiple sources that Elise is not really viable in ranked play at the moment (and is consistently in the bottom 5 for win rate). She'd be the only one I'm sure of. I do hear a lot of comments that Syndra's terrible win rate might be a sign, but others have pointed out that she's one of the toughest champs to play, so it could be inexperienced players.

elise has strengths in competetive that makes it hard to buff her to be balanced in soloq. Basically they can either have her balanced in soloq and must pick/ban in competetive or as she is now.

You mean like "Lee Sin" ? The darling of the LC$ which they have pretty much said, he will remain OP and powerful because they are "scared" of the back lash.

Yeah, if that wasn't a slap in the face towards balance issues, then I don't know what is.

LongFur Fox1 votes

This some next level misunderstanding that many people do. Lee sin is powerful since he is a generalist. He can do most things but outside of mobility and early game there is nothing he is exceptional as. This makes him a very good pick in competetive where early game matters a lot and since he can be used with any team comp.

The only reason he gets picked as much as he does in soloq is because people copy lcs without understanding why he is played. Sure he is good and probably a top tier champion but he is not overpowered like reksai two patches ago. Before you continue j4 has exactly the same problems as lee with being a generalist with good early game.

Main problem is that the "hardcore" fans are split in two right now:

  1. Those who have no idea what balance is and refuses to see that nerfs to their champion is needed.
  2. Those who understand what balance is and can see purpose in what riot is doing.

The 1st group is making 90+% of the threads and make all the pointless qq threads. The 2nd group has given up on the boards and dont post there anymore.

Sure there are weird people like me (i like to think i belong in the second group at least) but we are rare and often downvoted because people dont like hearing how sona needed the nerf (maybe also some compensatory buffs which she is getting now), zeds nerf is good and ahris change is in the right direction.

If you want i can explain all those nerfs/buffs/changes but it requires that you do not go into tantrum mode and refuse/forget what i say.

"I'm calm and I agree with Riot's decisions, which makes me right. Anyone who disagrees with me is clearly wrong and childish, and if they only listened carefully to me they would certainly agree."

I hope you see the irony in your post now.

LongFur Fox1 votes

Ohh I do which is the reason i added "(I like to think i am in the second group)". However there is no way to say it in a short post without it sounding like that.

That said i can give you examples of people i think are in group 1 and people who are in group 2. This would however make the post very long.

Drunk Rummate1 votes

I think you would be better off categorizing people differently. Just because people have an opinion that differs with Riot's approach to balance does not make them a whiner or complainer. It's ironic to say that they are because you're essentially doing the same thing as them, but in reverse.

There are calm people on both sides of every argument I see on here. There are also lots of little kids or otherwise immature people. That's just the internet for you.

LongFur Fox1 votes

Ohh I never said that riots way is the only one. Just that there are people who refuse to see why they do things. We have literally drowned in threads going on about zed since "his nerf was not a nerf at all" even though riot explained what they did.

Now if those threads had pointed out why they think it is the wrong nerf and what nerf he should have gotten then that would actually help but just crying "x champion is op pls nerf" ads nothing to any discussion and it is those people that are in group 1 whereas the one who says "I think x champion is a bit overpowered because of z and i think y would be a better way to curb his power than s which riot is doing due to these reasons".

The latter one takes longer yeah sure but it is the difference between something that contributes to something that does nothing at all beside muddy up any conversation.

If you want it could also be changed into

  1. Those who have no idea what balance is and refuses to see why changes happen/don't happen.
  2. Those who understand what balance is and can actually contribute to the conversation.

Problem with that is that most people think they are in category 2 (i might be in 1 as well) and the 1st edition cuts harder against this misunderstanding.

I think it's fine to disagree with a company's decision but the communicated intent from the post is that the board have been extremely aggressive about anything and everything, with posts calling for Riot's balance team to be fired gaining over 150 upvotes and several other threads similarly attacking Riot through bandwagon fallacy. The boards themselves think that since a large portion of players agree with them, they must be correct, and then believe that this grants them the right to attack Riot.

Very childish indeed.

I don't see your point. I liked her how she was and I don't appreciate her as much now. Do you think my opinion isn't valid because I haven't played the game as long as you have?

SmokingPuffin1 votes

"They changed it, now it sucks" is a natural thing to feel.

Of course, players who played Ahri in season 2 felt the same way when they wrecked kitey mage Ahri.

Neither opinion is more or less valid, and one group or another was going to be pissed.

OP fails to understand.

In one breath he admits Riot is a Business. In that same breath he denounces us for expressing our dissatisfaction with the product Riot is giving us.

We are the consumers. Riot lives and thrives because of us. If/When Riot pursues a course of action we disapprove of, we're betraying both Riot and ourselves if we don't voice said dissatisfaction.

Oh I'm a kid am I? Or is this petty insult the best response to the points I raised you could come up with?

Regardless, you're circular reasoning is only serving to prove my point. If one is dissatisfied with the product or service of a business they are well within their rights to voice their concerns. Thats step one. Step two, you vote with your dollars and take your time elsewhere.

The reason people don't immediately skip step one and go straight to step two is because the consumer obviously enjoyed the products previous state to a degree they are consuming said product in the first place. They voice their displeasures in the changes with the hope that they won't have to take step two.

I'm so sorry that some people not liking the current actions of the balance team are making life so difficult for you. What a sad fate, to have others complain about something and not agree with them. If only there was a way that you weren't forced to listen to their whining. Hmmmm wait a minute, take your own advice perhaps? Stop frequenting the boards you seem to not get along with so much and take your time elsewhere? Huh...

GG no RE get rekt kid.
