you guys can deal tons of damage, lifesteal like a mad, jumping like a monkey, attacking from miles away and still want defensive build?
Well, the thing is, Marksmen should not be durable, it's one of their intended weaknesses... So yeah, as you put it, "it's an outrage". Imagine if Garen or Mordekaiser could just include an item with a gapcloser in their standard build and instantly jump on your carries, you would be sad too. (And btw, that's precisely why Deadman's has been nerfed.) Or what if Assassins could suddenly kill Tanks as easily as ADCs?
tl;dr: every class is supposed to have specific weaknesses, and they shouldn't be able to compensate them with items.
if theyre ranged and tanky, then yes its a problem.
ranged auto attacks are the best defense steroid in the game. thats why adc get away with building squishy like they do and theyre still effective. it allows them to deal damage without taking damage in return. something thats not possible when youre melee. if you take away that one weakness they have, then they can kite their opponents indefinitely.
it doesnt matter if theyre dealing slightly less damage with 4 damage items and steraks than with 5 damage items, when theyre cant be killed even when out of position anymore.
this item is not meant for adc to cheese them out of their weakness. its mean for juggernauts who have to sit in enemy aoe abilites and have to eat burst damage because they need to get into the middle of the enemy team to do anything at all.
fuck that health nerf. its not even going to resolve the issue. adc are either still going to buy it, and they would just nerf it further, or they just switch back to banshees and in the end the nerf only really affects the champions the item was intended for. i want them to make it melee only.
It's fine for them to build defensive items and increase durability. They should just be giving up a disproportionate amount of damage relative to other roles in order to do so.
Theres 2 problems with this. 1: riots nerfing it in a way that only hurts those who were supposed to build it, while the ADCs wont care 2: because the ADC still shovels out boatloads of damage anyway. If you are trading a damage item for a survivability one (barring some hypercarries a la jinx vayne etc), you would expect the damage to have a noticeable drop.
Remember this is the same company which effectively said "You know, assassins get countered by tanks, we should make an item which stops tanks from countering them"

I started doing this the day he was reworked. Its fun and effective.
1:Marksmen are supposed to be crammed full of damage,even Urgot 2:AP Items were nerfed across the board 3:Sterak's is a tank item,made for bruiser tanks. Remember Cinderhulk meta? top lane smite? Its like that. Didn't devourer or feral flare get similar treatment? can't remember. Remember Ap runeglaive ezreal? great example.
I'm sorry, but they are intended to be easy to kill once you cut their primary defenses out.
An adc 1v1ing an assasin, outbursting a mage, and out tanking a juggernaut is not healthy for the game.
Tankiness has a range for which it's most efficient, and afterwards you get heavily diminishing returns

They build Steraks Gage and get more survivability aswell as damage. Thats the problem.
