Surrendering is unhealthy to the game.

There's no upside to it, and any slight upside there is is overshadowed by downsides.

Ever been that one player who still had hope they could win but your team just went and surrendered?

Ever queued up for a full game and the enemy team (or your team) Just surrenders?

It's annoying.

Now I understand, if there's an afk Or troll then people surrender, But even then, I've one plenty of times with afks, I've won 3v5's I've won games with trolls.

Surrendering is giving up, surrendering enforces that kind of attitude and it's not a good attitude to have.

If you disagree with anything said above comment about it and I will discuss it with you.

EDIT: It's sad to see how easily people give up.

Don't bother replying to a discussion if you don't even read it.

why waste 20 more minutes of someone's time then start another game

Monkey D Luffy1 votes

Why queue up if you're not prepared to play a proper game?

Cool fallacy, bro. People go into games ready to play them, but lots of stuff can happen to diminish or extinguish that willingness. That's why the surrender option exists.

why play a if they're at your inhib turret before 20 mins thats a safe bet for a loss game

Why bother continuing when it's for example 3-21 at 20 mins, the chance of a comeback is nearly inexcistent, while you might still want to keep the game going, the others are most likely done. Not having a surrender option means they would either troll, afk or just not pay attention because to them, thematch is already over. It doesn't mean that they're done with the game in general, just this match. They'd rather start a new game and hope that one is more equal, more fun for all that way.

I've come back from worse lol... And I'm sure lots of other people have too.

When your team play retarded as shit of course I'm gonna surrender. There's nothing to learn from a stompy game. When you're down 20 kills and 6 towers by 15 minutes the game is done. You can't come back from it. It's impossible. What's there to learn from a stompy game? How much you and your team suck balls? Might as well surrender and get another game going. It's not worth the time to have a nearly 0% chance of winning in those type of game.

Finally someone who understands the importance of not surrendering. Just yesterday I ran into this issue among many other occasions where my team surrendered. What players seem to not realize is that surrendering has no benefits. They are giving up on what could've been good practice. Why surrender against someone who could possibly be better than you? Its bound to happen someday, you can't beat everyone you come up against. Going against people who are more skilled is a one way ticket to IMPROVE your skill. Quitting only takes that opportunity away. No room for improvement if all you do is surrender just because your team as a whole is doing bad. I preached this to my teammates yesterday, we had the chance to make a comeback but they let their emotions get to them. Glad to hear that you're aware of the surrendering issue.

Yeah I always say you have a better chance of winning than you do if you surrender. which is obvious but true

You're wrong about there not being any benefit. Cutting a losing game short means you're not continuing to waste time in a game that isn't going anywhere just because of some small sliver of hope that you might win by accident. You wanna be all try-hard and never-give-up in ranked, sure, I wouldn't blame anyone for that, but people carry this nonsense into normals where it's nearly meaningless.

As for playing against someone who might be better than you? You'll never know because the snowballing ensures that the numbers are more important than that skill difference once they are that far ahead. Maybe in laning phase you could learn something, but when the team score is 7-34 and they have 7 towers, an inhib, and 3 dragons down, that point was far-flown a long time ago.

Besides, if Riot really cared about player improvement, they would just give us Replays and Sandbox mode. Those can teach more than 1,000 lost games can.

Or having a game where the score is 3 to 40 and the other team could obviously win quite easily if they wanted to, but instead choose to let you kill super minions while they retreat to farm the jungle until your inhibs respawn, repeating this cycle as many times as they wish until they grow bored.

'But-but if you can ace them you can push to win!' Most people at that point are sick of being forced to turtle. Farming super minions for twenty minutes isn't fun.

Simple math. If 4 people are done, that 1 person who "never gives up" has to deal with it. I'm frankly surprised that 3/2 votes don't go through, but hey--f*** logic.

Monkey D Luffy1 votes

If 4 people are "done" then they should have to deal with it, they're the ones who queued for a game, don't queue for a game if you're not prepared to play it in it's entirety.

Häßlich1 votes

Faster to just leave it and move on to next game. Less frustrating too.

Krigjer1 votes

If morale is down, sometimes winning is impossible.

I'm also glad surrendering is an option when there are two (or more!) people on my team that just won't stop bickering. There absolutely needs to be an option to leave if you're having to decide between winning or just getting away from certain people as fast as you can.

In all of the other RTS (generalization) games its actually unsportsmanlike to not surrender. Only in League do I see people play a game that they will 100% lose in hopes of a server crash or other unlikely free win/null game scenario.

This community also finds it acceptable (and often does) to say gg first as the victor, which is also unsportsmanlike in every other competitive game. I dont try to understand it, this is just what I have seen.
