And claims their matchmaking aint broke...

  • 1 more that wont post for some reason

The issue is all of my games have been so messed up with their match making. I've been getting unranked/silver teams vs Plat/Diamond teams in my norms, which is complete BS by any standard. "but it's norms" doesn't mean that i should be playing vs 3+ tiers higher than me, NOR SHOULD I BE PLAYING VS THE TOP 1% of the league community as a silver... No one should have to deal with that kind of bs...

As is typical of these threads i expect the whole flametrain to come in and run this over, but thought i should atleast post it.

EDIT: Added a link for the 2nd pic mentioned above.

Maybe you belong in master. Your teams are holding you back.

It's just that normals MMR is different from ranked. Those high elo guys never play normals and suddenly they were like "eh, why not" so they get into normals and stomp (until their normals MMR grows enough to match them with same opponents)

Sometimes, I'm convinced that their employees are either trolls or scabs.

I think the really funny thing is the MMR difference. 700 difference of MMR? Like really, it seems that their matchmaking system is just lazy and doesn't care about the skill of players and just shoves them into a game

LMAO normal... So what ? I had high diamond mmr in normals since i was always playing against diamonds and stuff, and gold 3 in ranked .. Do i deserve diamond ? nah. Stop making excuses. You belong in Silver.

It's a normal game, which uses a different and independent MMR to Ranked.

It's just that either your Normal game MMR is ridiculously boosted, or that said Master tier player's Normal game MMR is apocalyptically tanked.

We all know how likely the latter scenario is given that a Master player most likely doesn't give a rat ass about norms and just play it while they're high as fuck.

I know how you feel. My friends and I are in silver and we are perfectly fine in a 4 man pre-made, but when we add our 5th friend who is our Diamond magnet it gets bad. You will have 5 silvers vs 3 diamonds and 2 plats. We call him a diamond magnet, because every time we que with him even if it's only as a 3 person que he will still bring in 2 diamonds into our game. It's hilarious as it is sad, because he is never against the Diamonds. So while he is having a decent game the others are getting stomped.

Said this one before, you can also try to check people around level 15 games, they get matched against golds, silver, worst one I saw was a diamond V. Quite enjoyable for the newcomers.

the matchmaking is fine, I love normals for the sheer randomness.

Being a bronze and taking the piss out of plats and diamonds pleases me. it doesn't happen often, but it's pleasant.

like the afterglow from good nookie.

If a master tier player happens to queue up with their unranked friend who is functionally low bronze (maybe they know them in RL or something), and theres no other master+bronze premades floating around at the same time, how should matchmaking handle it?

What if the master tier player actually has a silver-ish normals mmr (perhaps due to not playing many normals)? How about players who have normals MMR higher than their ranked ones (e.g. they go full try hard in normals on their mains, and so can climb further against people not necessarily trying as hard)?

What if the master tier player legitimately only plays off-role and/or off-main and/or off-build stuff in normals, and so despite having a lot of normals games played, when doing their silly stuff in normals they really are only as effective as around a silver or gold who is actually trying?

Not saying that any of these are necessarily the case in the specific example provided, but those are all situations where lower rank players and high rank players could and even should potentially be matched against each other.

But the Normals and Ranked MMR are different. So being a Master player that was there, that means they have Silver MMR for Normals cause they clearly don't play them nearly as much.
