I think it is time to require a number of games played with a champ before able to be picked in rank

More and more I am getting people that openly flaunt that they have never played their pick before in ranked matches. They don't care and claim that it isn't toxic to the game. I have no problem with people playing new roles or trying new things but even if I want to play a new champ in ranked I at least play them a few times in unranked to get a feel for them.

I don't think there should be any punishment for it, they should just grey out champs for you in ranked that you don't have at least 10 games played in the last 6 months on. Thoughts? Am I making a big deal out of nothing or have other people noticed this too?

Is that a vote against me or a vote against my idea? So I take it to mean that the general public is okay with your midlaner taking yasuo mid for the first time ever in your promos?

The issue that always comes up when people bring this up is priority picking a champ to trade with another player. This doesn't occur too often in lower MMR, but is more common higher up, and in organized play.

Your idea also bring in new problems. When metas shift, but you can't play someone you have at mastery 7 because they were unplayable in the meta for so long. You might be a little rusty with them, but needing to play multiple hours on them in normals just to use them again in ranked is a bit much. This is less of an issue if you play a lot, but not everyone does. So needing 10 games might take someone half a month or more, if they get 1 or 2 games in a day but still want to play ranked. This can have an even harder effect on smurfs, which would create another negative play experience for the higher tiers of players.

It's not a perfect idea, but it brings it's own problems that need to be solved. I'm not generally convinced it's worth the effort to try to fix these new problems with more complicated systems and restrictions.

Thanks for making an effort to bring a different perspective. Frankly I have no sympathy for smurfs but I get the point. The trade picks thing is a good point which I hadn't considered. I guess there really isn't any solution that can make everyone happy. But it just fucking makes my blood boil when some fucker proudly proclaims first time leblanc in my promos. There should be some way to punish these tools.

What about people who get auto filled support and haven't used a support champ in awhile?

Ya my argument is pretty much demolished. In a perfect world I think I am right but there are just too many cracks where things just go wrong. I guess my point is more that there should be a nuke button for the assholes that brag about it. I have no problem if you are trying your hardest but if you make a mockery of intentionally picking someone you are bad with than wtf. And of course they always do it in pregame chat so you can't even report it.

Well at least you admit that the idea won't work, which is laudible. This suggestion crops up now and again and it's usually some absurd number (play 200 gmaes with your champs or some BS). Most times it's just a dude being a douche because he lost a game due to someone being new on a champ.
