I've tried a bit of the new Ryze.

Now I haven't won with him yet (I never played the original Ryze much, so his combo casting is new to me despite my love of spamming abilities). What I've gathered so far:

1. His waveclear is insane when timed right. I'm not sure which is stronger, maxing E all the way, or maxing Q for E damage increase and spread (I always start E though).
2. He's still item dependent. I rush RoD on him and them grab archangel. He's actually pretty squishy even with RoD and I haven't figured out a good item build for him in most situations. I'm not sure if I want to build him AP and Mana glass canon or if I want to make him tanky (Morellicon and Frozen Heart both offer 20% CDR and 400 mana, so if I grab one I won't grab the other).
3. His ult is something that isn't easy to pick up. I've used it maybe once successfully when I teleported behind my enemy laner as my jungler came in for a gank. That's the only time I've used it. I haven't found moments where I could set up a good use of his ult.

I'm still not sure what to start with (I don't like starting with the mana Crystal because I don't have any mana sustain early). I'm debating whether I should experiment with the dark seal or corrupting potion.

He's pretty fun. Though I can see him getting nerfed once people get used to his combos. Especially with that waveclear.
