Rank Distribution and Skill Level

I just started playing in late Season 5 right around patch 5.18. I've recently made it to Silver 2 on the NA region. I've noticed that there has been a SHARP increase in player skill since getting into Silver 2. I've been able to play my favorite champs like singed, mordekaiser, and nasus up until now. Now my KDAs are poor and people are just better.

I was wondering, what percentile is Silver 2? like what percentage of the community are in each rank? Should I compromise what champs I want to play to move any further?
