You can't use overall win rates immediately after reworks.

There are so many reasons why after reworks, you would expect win rates to go down across the board. First, you have a ton of people first timing these champions to try out the changes. First timing things = lower win rate, they aren't as experienced with the champion and will be more likely to lose due to that inexperience.

Secondly the old mains now need to figure out what is optimal for the champion and that is a trial and error process. In terms of both new mechanics and builds. Combine that with item changes and you get mains losing more than before, due to attempting to figure out what exactly to do.

The win rates probably won't settle until next patch when all the bandwagon players stop trying the tank changes and mains figure out what s best for their champion. Then if champions like Zac are still doing poorly, I am totally on board with another wave of tweaks. But for now people need to chill, the win rate is not going to reflect the true strength of a champion until people stop first timing the changes in ranked and learn what to build again.

The only thing you can REALLY know for sure is that if first timers are crushing on something reworked and their win rate spikes, the rework had some stupid numbers on it Sejuani.

but Maokai prior to rework had win rates of :

patch 7.5 45.90% patch 7.6 45.90% patch 7.7 46.03% patch 7.8 43.35%

and now currently as of patch 7.9 he sits at 45.72%

the only role in which his win rate has gone up and his play rate gone up is as support

Its because people havent figured out the optimal build. His E is complete bonkers tho.

16% of your max HP with a 300 base damage with an additional 4% for every 100AP

then you tell me what his "optimal" build is

...that's the whole point. People don't really know. So attempting to figure that out lowers win rates. Where as with champions in other roles, we have a blueprint of every optimal build path already made by pro players.

yea you can its called tank with cc and mana just like it use to be...

the only different is he dont scale with damage and his ult has to be played around differently and his old reliable damage on W is now gone. the only thing he has for any kind of damage is E and it dont even scale on ap

Implying that Zac will magically reach over 50% win rate if we just give him enough time.

If everyone else is given reworks similar to Zac's, maybe.

I'm not implying that it will go up by that much, but the win rate we are looking at now is literally the worst case scenario. It will go up, period. People will get better at his new mechanics (and he did get some tricky to use abilities) plus people will figure out which of the new tank items are best. It makes sense for zac specifically to have the lowest win rate as he got 2 different, difficult to use abilities.

Maybe his win rate will only go up to like 47% or something still really low, and at that point I'm all aboard for some buffs. But buffing during the "figure it out" process doesn't make sense
