DFT and Jhin... and Katarina

Why doesn't Katarina's Q count as single target since it bounces just like Jhin q? (the bounce mechanic works the same exact way) the only difference is katarina's q can be proc'd while jhin's q gains damage on minions he kills with it... so why does DFT only do half the duration instead of the full?

Im not saying I would ever take this over Thunder lord's just curious as to why she can't have that benefit as well

I've seen a few people talk about this and basically Riot made an exception for Jhin because if he didn't work well with DFT he wouldn't have a single good keystone available to him. Kat obviously has TLD as an alternative.

Jhin Q counts as multi-target for DFT. You're thinking of his W, which can only hit one champion, and his ult, which is considered four separate casts that each count as single target because they can each only hit one champion.

Nope all four of Jhin's abilities proc DFT except I think his E :D

Yes, they all proc it, but W and R counts as "Single Target" for purpose of DFT since they can only hit one champion with each shot. His Q and E however, have the reduced duration effects for being Area of Effect. The same applies for Katarina's abilities.. So her Q counts as AoE. As does her W. Her R I believe counts as a DoT effect. but might be AoE instead.

Q procs DFT as an AoE ability at half duration W as single target at full duration E as AoE at half duration R (all 4 casts) as single target at full duration.

Katarina: Q: AoE, half W: AoE, half E: Single target, full R: AoE, half

Jhin's Q is AoE.
