the ban phase should be about which champs counter who i want to play
not which champs are the most broken

not which champs are the most broken

I ban the permabanned champs not because I am afraid of them. It's because I'm afraid of my team feeding them easily and ending the game sooner than it should.
Or worse: Your team choosing them and then feeding. That Darius on your team that feeds the Malphite because he just went with the pick because he thought it was a no brain power pick. And then spams surrender...
Darius destroys Malphite. If he loses that matchup, even with no experience, he deserves the loss.
never want your team to tilt in lobby
Simple solution: 10 bans
GG Everyone can go home I solved the issue.
They honestly should do this. Its been 3 bans each side back when the game had like 50 champions. It only makes sense that now that we are at almost triple that to also almost triple the bans. I think 5 on each side would be more than fair.
And, more specifically, 1 ban per player.
You would legit have people that banned
.
Welcome to our community lol.
Because it is worse to have one player ban Zilean and 4 other people make real bans than have one player ban Zilean, Poppy and Sona while no one else gets to make any real choices.
my main problem with this is how it might play out. Ideally, we could have all 10 players pick their ban simultaneously, however, duplicate bans seems to prevent that. So the answer would be to go 1 by 1, and, idk about y'all but ban phase often takes long enough. Factor in dodges which will most likely become more prevalent given 10 bans (i.e. more likely that the champs people want to play will be banned, hence more likely to dodge all things equal...) and pick/ban phase becomes so time consuming :/
the other thing i worry is that if each player has 1 ban, each could just ban their counter, however, this could make for some interesting picks and compositions so actually this aspect of having 10 bans intrigues me.
so yeah, other than that first point (where 10 bans would significantly extend the duration of pick/ban phase), it would be a welcome change. Especially since there are dozens more champions than originally, and there seem to be more OP picks.
You could just make the ban time very short for everyone except the first person (because they have to load in). Something like 10-15 seconds.
The other worry is actually what I want to happen. It would make it a lot easier for the top person not to just ban 3 mid champions and then play mid. It's trying to promote a sense of fairness for the team, leaving more room for other players to pick the things they want.
Let's face it, 6 months later these people will fill their 'broken' list and demand that 10 are not enough.
No never if 10 bans are not enough then what the hell is riot doing having half the champions useless, OH FUCKEN WAIT.
10 is absolutely enough. I can ban some broken champs and at least one champ that counters who I wanna play as a first pick, and maybe ban a counter for our top laner
Inb4peopleban10opchampions.
Besides, Riot has stated that more bans can lock out pro-players from their championship pool, so blame the LCS.
"Our vaunted professional scene sucks too hard to widen their champion pools"
Target banning someone like that in Dota would lose you the game at a high level almost immediately. I have a hard time believing that leagues pro scene is so weak compared to the dota scene that they actually fear this.
But then again, Koreans get dumpstered in Dota, maybe Rito wants to play to their strengths?
And suddenly the number of champs you need to learn per lane doubles just so you've a good chance of playing a champ you know instead of having to grab a niche pick because all your champs got banned.
GG go home you're drunk.
Then I am very sorry that half your mains happen to be FOTM, I recommend playing team builder until the meta shifts. For everyone else who doesn't exclusively play

I'm sorry you don't know how to play against binary champs, most of which have fairly simple methods of besting.
Best of luck in trying to make people feel bad while trying to make yourself feel better. I didn't say this was an issue I had, I pointed out one of the main reasons Riot dislikes the idea of upping bans. Another is it promotes simply banning out champs you don't like instead of learning to play against them. But go on, tell me how I only play broken champs instead of listening to the facts to make yourself feel better.
That is not my personal opinion. I read all of those off the list of most banned champions (from champion.gg). I am sorry if that sounded like a personal attack, re-reading it I'll admit it does come off that way. I intended it at face value, I am genuinely sorry if you or whomever might have this problem main those champs because right now they are the most banned in the game. I believe that very few people would legitimately be banned out of their champ pools by adding 4 more bans to the game, but that many people would benefit from the improvement in overall game health that the change would likely entail.
Binary in general is an incredibly boring concept, gg mate you have just proved that they shouldn't even be in the game in the game in the first place by your calling them binary. A champion is obviously unhealthy if they are pick or ban, atm darius with a 94% ban rate :P
I want to know when Yasuo suddenly became broken. I got flamed for picking him 6 months ago.
I want to know when all Yasuos started building TriForce. I remember that no one did that, and then a few months ago, it seems like every Yasuo builds TF 2nd or third item. What caused this?

First answer: Because it's the most slot efficient way to reach 100% crit if you don't want to run crit runes. Second (and real) reason: Bjergsen started doing it that way on stream.
Tornado changed to apply on hit
Tornado changed to apply on hit
Correction: Tornado bugfixed to apply on hit. It was supposed to be that way all the time but Riot broke it in 4.13 when they were fixing another bug related to his tornado.

He's not, just people complaining, though he is a solid pick.
He's just a solid counterpick to the current mid meta. The Top 5 mid laners played are
, and he counters the other 4. Once assassin mids are back in vogue, Yasuo will go back to being Feedsuo for most people.

I just pick Jayce against him, I don't think I've ever lost lane that way.
You would think Jayce would do really well against Yasuo but Yasuo has historically had a very good winrate in the matchup. I'm just going to chalk it up to Jayce actually being pretty difficult to play to his potential. I've destroyed my fair amount of Jayces, but when I'm up against an actual good once, I'm in for a very painful lane.
Honestly I feel like the main reason Jayce is sometimes considered a counter is because you can play mindgames against Yasuo with the stance changes. Melee form's burst is retardedly good, and if you can bait wind wall, ranged form makes yasuo cry.
I know right
Back when I played ranked I would ban
because I wanted to play the doge
in peace.
Of course sometimes people were smart enough to read those bans like a book and then 6th ban would go to my beloved doge
Thats incredibly selfish if you think banning phase is just to get rid of YOUR champ's counters
Soloque is about YOU carrying so yes, you ban YOUR champ's counters. Unless you can't carry of course, then just ban who you think will be strongest.
It's better than listening to the guy saying "ban tryndamere".
The fact that you put yasuo and riven on your list but not viegar worries me
Yasuo and Riven aren't even ban worthy
''viegar'' is a counterpick. He is just the current QQ champion of the boards. He is supposed to do good against the currently most popular AP champions like
. People arent counterpicking, safe picking or abusing his GLARING weaknesses ingame.
And Yasuo is very ban worthy if only for the fact people can pick a knock up comp and dominate Team fights with 2 clicks.
.
Riven is a complete broken shit if you dont pick the latest FotM of toplane

the fact that a lvl 8 is trying to argue with me about anything is actually very amusing to me. Even if that's a smurf there's no way your anything greater than silver. Veigar is not "just the current QQ champion of the boards", he's broken af and easily one the most ban-able champions.
You do realize that Veigar has a higher ban rate than Yasuo right??? You wanna talk about GLARING weaknesses? How about that Yasuo is very gankable in lane, even more so than Veigar who doesnt have a single mobility ability? Or that the support just has to exhaust yasuo and effectively neuter him? if you're losing teamfights because of a certain wombo combo started from a
ult, maybe you and your shitty teams should avoid clumping up?
And I'll be honest here, that last sentence had me laughing. You can beat riven with way more than just garen, dari, and fiora. Perhaps you just got outplayed?
K so i'm plat and if I say otherwise does that just make it automatically true? Veigar is just as weak to cc as everyone else is and he's squishier than most champs. He's not broken, he's just strong. Build some mr and if you are the ap or adc don't get to close to him when his ult is up, everything else is dodgeable.

yes, because the best overall performance of all midlaners coupled with the highest ban rate for that role means "he's just strong"; my bad. Do you really believe "building mr" is enough to stop an 1000+ ap viegar with a void's staff? He won't even be using his ult on anyone but a carry who won't even build much mr anyway.
And I like how your idea of "counterplay" is just dont go near him lol
Many carries have abilities or the range that allows them to stay away from veigar. And when I say stay away I mean don't go close enough for him to easily q+ ult you to the face. Veigar is squishy so if you focus him correctly then he does no damage after he is dead. What would you say the counterplay to a fed zed is? Isn't it also pretty much if you are adc you either need to build the right item (qss) or don't go near without good peel. Same is for veigar but he is EASIER to stay away from since he is very immobile. And the item you should build in this case is banshees veil. Veigar ult does 0 damage if you have banshees veil shield up. Syndra can do the same thing to carries as well but I don't hear people complain about her.(maybe because her combo takes slightly longer?) Her stun range is also longer and can hit multiple people in a group(not that veigars can't hit multiple, but her stun is easier to hit more than one).

Neither is Veigar. I laugh up a storm whenever I see him banned. He is one of the easiest champions to counter, and people are too busy complaining about his sudden spike in popularity that they forget to actually figure out how to deal with him.

!!!!!!! WHAT??! Veigar is very easily one of the most broken champions right now. All he has to do is farm in the lane phase with his q and play safe. he easily sets up ganks with his e, literally the only he needs to do is just farm and wait for the jungler to gank, and press e.
I fuckin hate it when people blame it all on a sudden spike in popularity without perhaps thinking that just maybe there is a REASON for it. its cause he's op as fuck.

He isn't "OP" at all. He counter the current meta, which is hard engage/all-in team compositions. He counters them because of Event Horizon. It turns out that if you play a siege composition again him, he struggles a hell of a lot. He id dominant because of the fact that the champions that he is going against in lane are champions that poke kinda well, but their harass is mostly all-in after all-in. Throw up the Event Horizon and poof you walk right out of it and go back to farming. Play a champion with mega poke (Xerath, Lux, Jayce, Urgot, Ziggs) and you basically make his lanning phase a living hell. Just because you refuse to try to think outside of the meta and fail to beat him doesn't mean that he is overpowered.
I rape just about anything in the mid lane as Veigar. Even when I lose the game as Veigar, I still go incredibly positive. He got popular because he's very reliable now and scales into the late game with only three items.
I have noticed how 6 of
are the banned champs in lower elo, higher elo it changes from 6 of those 7.
I haven't seen Jax banned in ages, Shyv stop being banned much after the juggernauts came out, and Skarner hasn't been banned since his nerfs really. Cho is never fricken banned. There's never been a reason TO ban Cho. He's got a lot of power, but he's got nothing now in the ultra tank meta since he'll oom before some one like Darius or Mundo is even close to dead.

>riven >morde >yasuo shit bans imo
Morde is still strong and you're in for a nightmare if the enemy bot lane Morde is a duo with his support.
Riven and Yasuo though are pretty funny bans though since they're barely worth banning.
Honestly, every meta has a champion or two that are a "must ban" every game, but man, has the balance team outshone their shittiest performances this time? Well, at least, with respect to lower elo's. I remember a simple time, when you would save your last ban for Kat, or play chicken with the enemy team to see if you could force them to ban her.... those were the days.
Also, replace Yas with Garen, because his rework makes him practically invincible, and Yasuo in solo q is more annoying than anything else, imo. Seriously if people had more patience they could deal with solo q Yas real easy.
And while I'm on the subject, can we all stop wasting bans on Veigar now? He did well in the LCS, but that was one game, he was a surprise pick, and, honestly, he's not that consistent with his skills. (And I really like to play him... so quit it!)
