The only players that actually want the Yasuo rework, are these that can't play him/haven't played him, and always lose from Yasuos due to their lack of skill. Yasuo IS balanced IF you know how to play against him.

I think you need some more time before your character analysis of complete strangers holds up to the claims. there is a difference between being unaware that your godlike mechanics and game strategy actually has punishable flaws, vs trying to learn how to carry games and be the one and only person on your team willing to make shit happen and not farm mid all game long and mindlessly push waves until the 4 ff votes role through.

the real arrogance in this situation lies within the person that thinks they shouldn't be punished so hard for making mistakes in the lane, and baby flames instead of changing something about the way they approach the matchup through the game. [slayer-jinx-catface]

Funny enough, you should take whatever bullshit you typed to apply it to yourself, if you are going to mention "character analysis of complete strangers".

Yasuo simply has the tools to disengage and not be punished as heavily compared to many other champions in the roster. The reason why players do bad is simply "arrogance" when playing him. His banrate is also an indication of how many people in the community don't want to deal with him or have on him on their team. Even despite a ~50% rate, meaning he is, on paper, "balanced"? No one wants to deal with him or the players that he attracts. Why do you think Yasuo players are branded with the stereotype of being arrogant and toxic? Because there are some truths to it and he does have more negative players compared to other champions (other noted examples are Lee Sin, Riven, and so on). Read the boards. It's not just my own personal experiences.

no that's not what that means actually. and there is a term for that sort of community. its called an echo chamber. that's where people go to blow smoke up each other's asses and go apeshit on anyone who disagrees with them without having any factual arguments themselves to try to support. you aren't stating anything relevant at all. just recycled hearsay garbage that I've heard about a billion times complaining that you are losing games and can't win them because x did y and z wasn't there for you in time to save you and also set up the perfect play because he wanted to get towers and end the game.. that's literally just a meme in league where my favorite champ happens to shit on your favorite champ when you don't know the matchup, and no one wants to learn the matchup. you notice aside from him getting buffed due to crit item price changes, no one high elo and competent had any complaints about Yasuo other than he is too squishy to be a threatening frontline

every now and then you find someone that knows the matchup and they shit on the Yasuo and the Yasuo learns how vulnerable the champion is. if he is competent then he practices and becomes the godsuo that you always seem to feed, while you continue to baby rage the matchup and type gg and forfeit at 20 like usual. if he doesn't then he continues to feed his counters and flame junglers and teammates for being garbage. has nothing to do with the champ. that's just how people are in the world. you have dumbass self-absorbed keyboard warriors that know everything, and you also have contained carries that don't get frustrated when everyone else is ready to quit. I'm just trying to be the second one when I can. that means I generally had to accept when I fucked up and stop making excuses, and stop waiting for my laners to be useful. your laners are always going to be shit and it's your job to learn the necessary game knowledge and apply it to a champ you can carry hard enough with. if you aren't doing that to start with then that's your problem.

Or perhaps just accept the fact that Yasuo is a cancer champion with a cancer kit and his players are probably one of the worst population in the community. His banrate says everything. The boards say everything. No one in high elo complain? His banrate in high elo is pretty high as well.

It's high time Yasuo players accept the fact that he needs to be changed, period. Because like it or not, Riot is going to come for him and you better hope that they aren't going to destroy his kit like they did with LeBlanc.

Hardly a "better argument".

You know what I find annoying? When people keep bringing up Yasuo's "OP defensive abilities". Seeing as he is always #1 or #2 on most deaths per game, and #1 worst kda regardless of elo...

Gosh, with so many "tools" to disengage and avoid TONS OF DAMAGE, he should have one of the best KDAs, what with all of that OP reduced crit damage he does with just phantom dancer.

"Just bad players who think they are gods but aren't bringing his stats down" always the response...

"Regardless of elo" "even amongst mains" always ignored

The thing about him though - I've seen Yasuo's feed like fat kids at a Golden Corral - and then finish 2 items and whip out 15+ kills and completely turn around. And this is a consistent thing. If you are severely behind, you should naturally be at a disadvantage against your opponent, not killing everything that moves once you buy a second item. There's a huge disparity there, and it shouldn't exist on any champion ever.

This always gets talked about, but it sounds like just repeated garbage that no one actually has evidence of.

I play quite a bit of Yasuo, and if I end up "feeding" as bad as people say it can get, I don't get 2 items and start winning. If my team can feed me those kills? sure, but I don't do it myself. NEVER have seen this. NEVER have experienced this while playing him.

As far as I am concerned, it doesn't exist.

Just because you haven't witnessed it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I've seen it happen numerous times, and if you see people talking about it, clearly they have seen it happen too. So on that alone, more people have seen it happen than have not.

Precisely. A player who chooses to main Yasuo can learn all of the character's ins and outs, all of the nuanced tricks, as well as the limits of the character.

Compare that to a casual player who rarely plays with/against Yasuo, they simply have way too much of an uphill battle to learn all of the ins and outs against the champion so that they can take advantage of him. But once they do he becomes relatively easy to beat, making him not a problem for players who HAVE put the time into learning how to beat him.

I think the issue lies with how much time and effort is required to learn how to play against a champion. Most champions arguably you can learn how to play against within 2 to 5 games. Maximum. Yasuo is different in a bad way.

Cacapoopoopipi1 votes

Even when you know him theres only so much you can do unless you select few hard counters for him. The biggest problem with him, although I don't see many people mention this, is his dash. Its too spammable and gives very little chance for counterplay considering you have to get past his passive shield and deal with his ult which is much too easy to proc. Not to mention if you somehow do outtrade him he can safely dash away and throw up the windwall so you cant even skillshot him. I think his Q is fine. His windwall should have a 2 hit health bar like yoricks W and his E should have a longer CD a la Renekton. Tbh though, the best route I see with him is just to rework him so he's not the go to champ for every kid who wants to get easy wins.

HalcyonDweller1 votes

I somewhat agree, but I also somewhat disagree.

I do think that his kit is too spammable and overbearing, however I do not think it is impossible to deal with.

Mostly I think that his kit places too much of a burden on the enemy.

Flashi1001 votes

I wouldn't say so. I hate playing against/alongside yasuo even though I played a lot of Yasuo (I have like 37000 mpoints on him). The reason why i hate him is mainly his W. It can block virtually anything, and it doesn't require perfect timing unlike Fiora's W. I also despise laning against him because of his passive shield that you get by just walking and his infinite dashes. Finally, we all get frustrated when the enemy team has a Yasuo top lane and an Orianna mid lane. That 5-man ult really ends the game by itself. Dang it feels like every Yasuo on my team just goes 0/10, and the enemy Yasuo gets fed af and destroys us.

Oleandervine1 votes

My biggest complaint about his Ult in a situation like Orianna is that her Ult doesn't actually knock up, it displaces. Yasuo's ult triggering on displacements is just stupid. It should be knock ups, and clear, absolute knock ups, not loophole interactions with displacement.

Shahamut1 votes

Its called memory bias. We tend to remember negative experiences much more than positive ones.

Not arguing, just pointing it out.

I have a similar experience with Nasus, where if I play Nasus, the enemy jungler is top lane constantly, not mine. Same when I verse Nasus: he gets camped and I get no support. :-P

saxobk5 votes

I don't think Yasuo should be reworked but if he does then please not a big thing, just do something like change his w only or e only or q only

crazyweapon5 votes

It's not that we are any different than other mains that their champs got reworked... It's the reason of the rework.. Yasuo got reworked because people hate him I don't understand that. It's so tilting because the people complaining don't even take a look at the abilities or how yasuo can be countered and then they get destroyed by a yasuo Main that reads all the match ups, knows the champs ins and outs and put all that work and effort but the enemy just cries about how "broken and braindead" yasuo is.. You can down vote me and call me a toxic 10yr old yasuo Main retard kid, but everyone who likes to play yasuo will know this is true

Meep Man14 votes

If a champion is so annoying that he is permabanned not because of how powerful he is, but how frustrating he is, that's reason enough for a rework. Whether Yasuo mains like it or not, having your abilities deleted and having to get through Yasuo's mobility and innate shield at the same time just isn't fun. Even if Yasuo isn't all that good and can be countered, people don't like him. And by people I mean a lot of people.

Tulare3 votes

I don't think he needs a rework. Just some small changes.

  1. I think that the cooldowns on Sweeping Blade are a little too low. At high ranks, there's not enough window to hit him with skill shots before he can dash again. At 0.1 seconds, he's able to dash again before most people can even register and react to his position. (Average human reaction time to visual stimuli is ~0.25s.)

  2. The crit chance doubling part of his passive doesn't need to exist. The Flow/Shield mechanic is enough. Raise his damage numbers a little bit and get rid of crit chance doubling. All it does is give him a predictable, stagnant build path.

VâÿnêGôd3 votes

i mean, im in bronze and he is rly broken in my elo bcs of his kit, but we in bronze dont know how to counter him that well, and a "good" yasuo player can destroy people 1v5 and i think he is quiet annoying to deal with in general, so i would like a rework

KiLLuaZoldycK063 votes

i dont like how u said broken cuz of its kit. in bronze thts prob the mentality because many dont know knows wats good positioning, sidesteping ,orbwalking, formations, counter builds, ect. and they dont know how to play against thier strengths and how to exploit anothers weakness. bronze adc: jumps into yasuo and stands still while autoing then gets clobbered by bronze yasuo. higher elo adc: how about i stay as far as possible from the mininos stay in formation with my team and kite effectively. yasuo then forced to fight only the front like tanks, or get clobberd by the amount of cc if he goes for me in the backline

Mástèr3 votes

Here is my take on what I think about Yasuo. I don't think that he is either broken or under powered, but merely a "toxic champion" and I think the main reason why he is so is because of the mixture of his kit which makes him a pain for both sides of the map as well as playing as or against. When you're behind as Yasuo it feels as if there is nothing you can do, can't tank, waveclear. DPS. or farm meanwhile if a Yasuo is fed it feels as if you can face roll with him. The fact that Yasuo is supposed to be a high risk and high reward champion yet has an ability that flops or wins the game completely is the issue. That ability in my opinion is his windwall. Yasuo's other skills while people may agree or disagree along with his passive is acceptable and is fair game, but it is Yasuo's W is like a "helpless" factor. It either makes the person using it like the skill wasn't enough or that the skill makes certain people feel helpless. In my opinion a good change for Yasuo is to just change his Windwall ability to another utility skill that helps him. For example an immobility skill that slows champions likes Talon's old E did or a skill that prevents people from using movement abilities like Casseiopeias W does are some examples.

If you dont like him that much just ban him???

Dokueki Kenshin3 votes

Yeah, this is a long time coming. This is well deserved, and no, not because I think he’s broken, nor do I have a hard time playing against him. I eat Yasuo’s for breakfast normally.

Yasuo’s problem is that he’s a “toxic” champion. Riot intended for him to be a high risk, high reward mobile carry, but the way they chose to facilitate his carry potential is inherently flawed. How, you might ask?

-Windwall is a “get-out-of-jail-free” card that is both far too powerful and way too forgiving. It has no cast time and comes from within his own hit box, allowing him to block attacks that are practically on top of him and should be dealing damage. It also lasts a hideous amount of time.

-Flow I don’t have a problem with at its core, but much like Pantheon’s passive, it’s both up way too often and does too much. In Yasuo’s case , his flow shield lasts a bit too long in my opinion.

-His dash is essentially a free zoning tool in combination with his other utility. A high risk champion should NOT have zoning as a strength, but rather, a weakness

All in all, he’s not fun or interesting to play against. When I win, he’s literally just free gold. When I lose, I feel like I’m being beaten by a bundle of gimmicks instead of being outplayed or outskilled.

My guess is that the rework for low ELO: -Will destroy every yasuo cheese pick (people who pick Yas because they can abuse him in low ELO) -Will help everyone experienced with Yasuo.

Which is perfect.

For starters, we can have the windwall not spawn on top of him so he can't panic W and block everything. There needs to be some window of vulnerability. Overall he needs to be LESS GOLD EFFICIENT because he's the most gold efficient in the game and that causes problems in lower ELO.

Puzzles181 votes

I would like to see Yasuo's wind wall duration changed, starting at 0.5s at rank 1, and 2s at rank 4. Riot wants to promote variety in game play, but having a 4s wind wall at rank 1 means that Yasuo will never have incentive to max wind wall first. Also, 4 seconds is far too forgiving in a game supposedly all about skill, it should be an ability that requires proper timing, like Fiora's Riposte, instead of something that sits there for the entire duration of a fight.

Edit: I scrolled down the comments and honestly don't understand what is this "high learning curve on Yasuo" people keep bragging about. Yasuo players thrive in silver and bronze the most, and I don't think bronze Yasuo players have more mechanical skill than the other players. What is so difficult about learning how to use a point-and-click dash, a super-long-range ultimate, a super-forgiving wind wall that lasts 4 seconds, and a Q that basically has no CD, on a champion that uses no mana? Even Yasuo's built-in knock up can be guaranteed when used together with his E, making it a point-and-click knock up. Of course better players can get even more out of his kit, but that is true for every champion.

Tyki112 votes

The Yas mains don't want to admit he's a champ that nearly plays for the player. If you're shit at Q, here's a poke and knockup. Did you go too far, E back home. Oh shit is that Ashe or Braum ult? windwall it.

notajokebtw1 votes

Hey Yasuo main here I usually go top with Yasuo and most of the time I win it's not that he is overpowered people just need to learn how to deal with him throw in an AnnieAnnie that'll take care of him. Plus he is very high skill capped which I think really balances him out

Tyki112 votes

The issue is that he's Yi 2.0, the skill is hilariously low. It takes little skill to spam E on minions to chase an enemy down or escape after poking. If you're struggling with that, poke minions till you get a free knock up.

TSM cashmeoustid1 votes

Yasuo is perfecrtly balanced and fine the way he is. People don't hate him, they simply hate being killed by a yasuo player. Any champion controled by a decent player who then gets ahead or fed in game can and will be strong. The only reason his ban rate is so high is because of low elo players whom consistes of like 80% or 90% of Leagues community. He is hard too main, has many possibilites or tricks to learn, he is so fun to play, outplays juste feel amazing when you manage to do so and watching other player is so nice, literaly beautiful.

Tyki112 votes

Yasuo main spotted. Giant windwall blocking every projectile and canceling many ults, and he can stand inside it to be safe from all sides. Shield. Free crit. Shield regen, cc, dmg, armor pen boost in one ult. No cd dash and poke with knock up. Yeah he's perfectly balanced.

What are some changes you guys would like to see?

  • No more 0 CD dash. It is the most toxic ability in the game. It allows him to remove interaction from many situations. The biggest change to his kit should be figuring out what kind of tool he can have instead.
  • Either remove or rework Windwall, or make Yasuo use mana. The fact that he can react to mana abilities with a free ability that totally nullifies them is patently unfair in lane to many champions. He should need to spend mana for this power or the power should be significantly weakened and be more like Braum's shield. Flow can still be there like how Annie has her stun bar under her mana bar.
  • Move the double crit chance from his passive to Last Breath. Instead of giving his crits armor pen, he gets doubled crit chance for 15 seconds. This goes with Riot's philosophy that champions should have meaningful downtime.
  • Last Breath does half damage to secondary targets. Yasuo is too overbearing in situations when he's snowballing because he can solo kill several enemies at once using this move that is both CC and burst damage and gives him a power boost after it. The AoE damage should be toned down without nerfing his 1v1 potential.

With those changes I believe he'd need baseline stat buffs but I'd be totally ok with that exchange because his kit is fundamentally game warping from its mechanics.

Silver Prodigy1 votes

I think Yasuo is basically not a champ, that fitts in the overall rock-paper-scissors category that were used too think about. You know that a melee champ has disadvantages vs range champs, mainly because of the early pressure you can develop on the lane. If you play Riven toplane and i play Jayce toplane, while assuming we have the same skilllevel - i will crush you until the midgame, thats just a fact.

Yasuo sitts on a 57% (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) winrate on toplane, while we consider him as a "hard to play" champion. He doesnt have any "good matchups" toplane, because he is mainly vs counters like tanks or hard cc bruisers (renek, grag). This doesnt fitt together AT ALL.

Riot just made Yasuo/Riven skin BECAUSE they're picked very often to make money out of it, but this is just how it goes every time if you didnt realize it. Any champ that got cancerous and had a high playrate got a skin, and months later he got nerfed. Do you think this just happened coincidentally?

Riot exactly knows what theyre doing and i wouldnt go too far when i assume, they made him that strong to generate that money.

Summonah123691 votes

Has the rework already been made?

doubleguac1 votes

My guess is that they'll look for a way to: -increase his windows of vulnerability during the laning phase -buff late game team fight durability.

Increase cooldown or reduce early game values on the shield; increase late game values on the shield. Something like that.

Maybe they'll even break down and tie windwall to flow (make it eat a percentage of his flow that decreases as you level it). That would be pretty extreme, but I could see Riot doing it.

Unless he's super fed, Yasuo feels pretty weak to me late game. But he can be pretty annoying to lane against, for the reasons everyone complains about (high mobility + shield + wind wall makes it hard for certain champions to interact with him).
