Just give Hawaii and Alaska their own server.
Put it in the middle of the ocean for all I care, I just want my old 70-90 ping back.
Please?

There should just be two different NA servers. They did it for Europe and Latin America. However we need the servers in different locations to better suit western and eastern NA regions.
I live in Alaska, and I'm still waiting for the dust to settle. However it looks to be around 95 at the very best, and 140 at the worst. I used to get a steady 52 when they were in Portland, and that was perfect.
I would never have started playing if I saw that my ping was very high, and I'm sure many of us feel that way. I have no idea why so many east coast players are acting so hostile and childish when they had a choice.
It's not like the servers started in the east and moved to the west. I sympathized with them all the time, but again it was their choice and they knew what they were getting into before they invested time. I always thought adding two servers for NA was the best idea anyways. Moving them to the east did not solve any problems, it just shuffled them around. That's sloppy and not a solution.
EDIT: Slightly increased wait times > High ping.

I don't think we should be held accountable for lost games if our ping is this bad. They literally left us with no other options.
Before anyone from the eastcoast says anything, I used to live in Tennessee and having ping that is 100-110 sucks I know, but Hawaii and Alaska are now having it much much worse than east coast ever did.
u wut m8 i play on 200 ping
"Play" being the key word here, we all know you don't do good at 200 ping.
i have gotten quads, triples and pentas and carried teams so i do play well
But that's also relative to elo. If you're Quas and playing at 200 ping in master or challenger then sure you can say it's not an issue for you, but if you're gold or below then the ping is probably impacting you in some way, and if you're really low elo then it's pretty easy to get multi kills just from opponents playing poorly and you being on a high damage champ. I'm absolutely shit at assassins, but if you dropped me down in bronze 5 I can probably get a penta every game on something like Kat or Riven just bc if you get fed the players will still not respect your damage and they won't chain cc for shit. Yeah multi kills are good, but the question becomes is it your strength of play or opponents weakness? After all the game matches you against people it thinks are equal skill so if the ping makes you worse, the game will drop you to a level where you can compete w/ players despite the ping, and it might just mean you're playing against bad players who can't punish your handicap of the 200 ping.
Meh, I play with 130-140 ping. Never had an issue.
qq.
Am I a west coast player yet??
In all honesty Japan is getting servers. That is already confirmed.
The Japanese servers will probably be better for Alaska and definitely be better for Hawaii players.
So the best solution is to play on a server where no one will speak English. That'll make it an even worse solo Q experience
Oh, you mean like the exact same solution that was told to East Coast players? About how we should just go play on LAN since the servers were in Florida.
I would much rather play with the Japanese than the Latino trolls on LAN.
Gringo jajajajajajajajaja.
And this is the reason people hate east coast players. Because they are ASSHOLES.
I don't think assholes are defined by the global positioning of a coast line. lol
its not, you're assholes defined by the global positioning of New Jersey
^LOL
I would say apply
to
but DAMN you just fucking destroyed him.
No, you are pretty much shaming east coast with your kind of attitude. You among the other self-entitled assholes who keep putting down everyone else with your attitude. Here are some examples which make you sound like an immature asshole: "Gringo jajajajajajajajaja." "I would much rather play with the Japanese than the Latino trolls on LAN." "qq. Am I a west coast player yet??"
"In all honesty Japan is getting servers. That is already confirmed. The Japanese servers will probably be better for Alaska and definitely be better for Hawaii players."
If that is the way you'll treat Hawaii and Alaska, why should anyone give a damn about your lag problems?
"Oh, you mean like the exact same solution that was told to East Coast players? About how we should just go play on LAN since the servers were in Florida."
So instead of fixing the issue, you choose to move the problem, shove the issue to someone else, than laugh at them for it? Ok.
Well seeing as I don't work at Riot I actually can't fix the issue, move the problem, or shove the issue to someone else.
I can however laugh. Because of all the QQ from west coast, when East Coast dealt with the same problems for years except our ping and packet loss was even worse.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLEEEE yeah that sounded stupid, but it's true.
People say it's not really about 'high ping', but its stability. You can adapt from having 34 ping to 110 ping if you constantly have 110 ping. It'll take a few games, but you'll adjust for skillshots, last-hitting, etc. And, honestly, 110 ping isn't that much of a delay.
Now, if I had 250 ping, but it was stable, I don't know how I'd do. However, I used to get ~95 ping, but I haven't been on since the server move.

I've fenced a fair amount of epee, and LoL actually has a lot in common with it. Trust me, 70 ms is significant, to say the least. Epee lockout time for double hits is 50 ms and fencers double-touch ALL THE TIME.
I'M FROM TENNESSEE TOO HOLLAAAAAA
Both of the European servers are in the same exact location. Just sayin'.
I agree though. Riot should take a page from Valve's DotA 2 book and put in two servers, one close to each coast and give players the option to queue for matches on one or both servers.

I didn't know that, but thank you both for clarifying that. I just thought they would be in different locations to better suit those regions.
That's exactly what I was talking about earlier with a friend earlier concerning how Valve does it. I just assumed that's how they did it with Europe and Latin America. It makes so much more sense, and would end the whole high ping issue for the majority of us. I'd even be willing to wait, but I feel like it needs to happen.

omg I am so swithcing to DoTA. I've wanted to try it for a while anyway

EUW is a larger server than NA (EUNE is not). Oh, and what happened in Europe was a massive "brain drain" where most semi-competetive and competetive from EUNE moved to EUW. The same might happen on NA, making one side much less competitive. Nearly everyone I knew who started out on EUNE (including myself, I'm Swedish) moved to EUW. Some Silver players stayed on EUW.
Anyway, I just wanted you guys to know this. It's your server, if you feel like it's worth the risk, do it.
Edit: Actually, the European servers are in the same location, so I'm not really sure how feasible it'd be to have NA West and NA East be in different locations.

To would not be that hard. Hell the old hardware is on standby. They would need to spend a week configuring the options on the client.

Or if they were really interested in fairness, they could write a little software and roll the dice at the start of each game to determine where it should go, rather than just arbitrarily screwing the other half the player base.
And please ffs everyone stop saying 50 vs 120 doesn't matter its such bs
I rather we just split the community. The east can keep the new servers i was happy with the old ones.
No offense, but 95 would have been great for most East Coast players. While I'm not disagreeing with you, you have to understand how brutal it's been for us all these years. When I first started playing it sat around 135, and that was for a solid few years before this ISP LoL highway went up and it dropped to around 110. And I wasn't the outlier. Most of my friends were around the same.
And I'm not sure what you mean when you say we had a choice? I mean if you mean whether we play or not, sure I guess, but where else could we have gone to? LAN? Unless you speak Spanish, and love dealing with an extremely toxic playerbase that also has odd things like shutting off ranked at certain times, it's not really an option. EUW would be just as far if not farther. While not ideal, if your ping in Alaska is almost as high now as most East Coast players have played at for years at your worst, and at your best might be lower than a large amount. It's not as bad as you're making it out to be if that's your worst you're dealing with.
your choice was to even start the game, That was a choice. You made a bad choice and decided to play with 100+ ping while other sensible people (like me and the OP) would never of done so. Now everyone in the western united states is now getting the reverse of what you did. The servers did not move on you, but they did move on us. Riot did not one day say to the east we are going to take away from you to give to others.
You see the difference? You choose to play start with bad ping, others of us would never of made this decision if we knew we would be thrown away for being good customers.
I'm sorry, but that's a horrible point. If anything it was Riots because of the lack of a central server to begin with. If you're complaining about 95 ping while living in Alaska, which has a fraction of the East Coast player base let alone the NA player base, then I can't support you.
Look, I get it, it sucks playing on higher ping. Riot most likely should have put another server on the East Coast, but by in large this is an improvement for the majority of the players. The "vast majority" of the West coast is not getting what the East Coast had. From whom I've talked to, most are getting around 80. I would have LOVED to have 80, as would most of the people I play with.
This would be "unfair" if you were dealing with what Japanese players are dealing with at around 200 ping. 100-120 is what I, and many other have dealt with for ages. If you, in Alaska, are getting that low of ping, than the majority of the West Coast is getting a much better ping than we've dealt with.
Well now you have a choice. You either keep playing with bad ping or you quit playing. Same choice as ours ;)
you fail to understand how this is not equal situation. This limited understanding diffidently translates to your game play. Just keep wishing you would get to gold buddy. Ping was never what held you back; just pure incompetence
Yeah that's what amazes me about this. The change was guaranteed to infuriate people. And they made a huge amount of noise about it. And sure enough, we get to see ping go from 70 to 120 plus. It's like riot was proud of their capacity to arbitrarily decide which players should get screwed. Which in fact is probably exactly the situation, a sad sort of power trip for the developers responsible for the decision. It seems extremely unlikely that a suit who understood the situation would have agreed to piss off half the players just for kicks, but maybe riot doesn't have any suits in charge I dunno.
Put a server back in california I miss my 60 ping
sure 100+ is playable but when it starts lagging the lag is terrible now
before 60-100 was fine
I liked 60 and if i lagged oh well it only went up to about 100
now? itll go up to a max of 200-300(300 if my internet is super bad.. thanks verizon)
unacceptable tbh NAW (North America West) server please
then we can also call the NALCS the NAWLCS because lets face it only west coast pro teams ever make it to LCS only to be betean by koreans who move to LA

I see what most people on the east coast are saying, they're trashing threads like this and saying "well more people live on the eastcoast so it only makes sense" Instead of focusing on the bigger picture of "Why the fuck riot, a company that has the largest income of all the mobs games, doesn't have multiple NA servers.
I lost ALOT OF RESPECT for the east coast players seeing half of them trash the west coast like we are nothing, We west coasters never trashed them over it tbh, we always kinda just were like "eh well not out problem sucks to be you but we cant change that :/ sorry man"
they get lower ping and the west coast is saying its BS that they couldnt make two servers and now the east coast is all like "HAHAHA FUCK YOU WEST WE GET LOWER PING SCRUBS FK U NOOBS LOL HAHAH SALTY TEARS"
I have zero respect for east coasters right now
Because we never really complained that much about ping, and we played at HIGHER ping than the west coast players. Now that they don't get 30ish ping and have to play at 90 when we've been playing higher than that, we're telling you that you're lucky. It's like your parents giving you $500 a month in allowance and the kid next door gets $15 a week, then when you get it lowered to $250 a month, you complain to him about it. Shits bound to happen, it gave us better ping, it weakened your ping, in the end, we don't have better ping than you guys had, and you don't have ping that was worse than ours. In the end, it's for the better of all.
It's actually way worse imagine your ping went up by like 150%. I literally cannot play now because years of learned timing is gone. Fuck Riot.
I can play just okay and I live in seattle, but it'll spike to 400-500 (and sometimes 80,000 like wtf)
Riot has stated in several threads and in their own thread on the server change, this is a stress test. If people are having severe problems with gameplay (i.e. stats show a higher loss rate for people on the west coast) they'll implement either better technology, or some way to fix it.
HA HA HA HA, you must believe everything riot tells you. Their are certain limitations of how the internet infrastructure exists. Riot does not control the ISPs and can not force companies to upgrade their equipment.
Like the release of Ao Shin?
best champion that ever got teased in 2014
Didnt Rito get the kappa award for that champ?
Isnt it fun to throw percents around when youre dealing with small numbers like 20 and 30? Sure makes your argument look bigger
I fail to see how increasing somebones ping is classified as "better" for them
its only better for the majority (I still some east coasters complaining about bad ping) of the east coast
riot screwed over Alaska Hawaii and japan and most of the west coast that isnt near California or LA
also Id love to oint out OP wants 70-90 ping back he isnt playing on 90 anymore hes playing on 100+ like alot of us which if I dont remember reading wasnt ideal in riots books, riot wanted to bring everyone they possibly could to 80 or below... well the majority of the west coast is above 100 now good job there riot
Because all you're seeing is the West Coast. You're ignoring everyone else and saying that this is bad and needs fixing. Again, I'll repeat what I've repeated to everyone, direct from Riot, they EXPECT problems at the start of this all, and they will be resolved as soon as possible. Everyone is acting like this is gonna be forever. It's not. Eventually your pings will go down to a reasonable level. But again, none of you read the posts about it and just QQ without finding out what's going on.
Eventually your pings will go down to a reasonable level. But again, none of you read the posts about it and just QQ without finding out what's going on.
they still wont be as low as they were before ergo riot still rose the west coasts ping.
so again tell me? why is it better for us? Our ping still gets raised
Yes, they rose your ping, and eventually your ping will come down to about the same as East Coast. It's better for all because you won't have that slight advantage when it comes to ping now that it will be more equalized when Riot figures everything out and fixes it
Your entire statement just yelled SELFISH to me. Your ping gets raised at the cost of others going down. The point of a centralized server is that ping across the US should become equal all around. You're QQing because your ping now isn't insanely low and people on the East Coast are getting a slightly better deal than you are.
Simple solution, move, get a better ISP, or stop complaining. I haven't once in my 6 years complained about the ping situation because I knew that it would do nothing. They aren't going to cave in and screw over the East Coast again just to please the West Coast so they can have their insanely low ping back. Again, all of the pings will equalize in time, and will be very similar. Yeah, Alaska and Hawaii got the short end of the stick, but Riot is a business, they're going to please as many people as they can. Moving the servers to Chicago was that way.
you want to know why you got 15+ downvotes on your OP?
you said "In the end its better for everyone" FOR A THIRD TIME
RAISING PING FOR ANYONE IS NOT BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOURE TELLING ME RAISING PING IS BETTER FOR SOMEBODY HOW?
tell me how raising ping is better its not better its WORSE CAN YOU READ ? RAISING PING=WORSE LOWER PING= BETTER
I am not going to even try and argue with you anymore because you really must have some kind of screw loose trying to tell Hawaii Alaska and japan that going from 70-90 to 100-130 is better for them
youre are basically telling us "riot is going to raise your ping it is better for you trust me"
thats like a ceo saying "Hey manager we are going to cut your pay to equally pay everyone in the company but dont worry its better for everyone including you even though youre getting less pay now :D"
