What if Kayle and Varus swapped Passives?

###Introduction

After recently playing Kayle and a ton of Varus for a long time it recently occured to me. Both of their Passives would make more sense if they were swapped, and here's why...

###Reasons of such an idea

Kayle being a Judicator and all, is all about judging and punishing the guilty. So when she kills someone she deems as guilty she gains bonus Attack Speed.

And we know that Varus' Darkin Bow has all sorts of Corrupting Magic flowing through it, that we still don't know full potential of in terms of power or how it works, making it more sense if he had Kayle's Passive which made the enemies he attacked weaker or exposed.

Here's both of their Passives next to each other and tell me if you agree if them having their Passives swapped would make more sense...

Giving Varus innate armor and MR shred in his passive would be fucking busted. He ALREADY deals a ton of damage as it is with his stacking mechanic, and now you're suggesting he should stack AND shred their defenses so that when you blow up your stacks they pretty much die on the spot from the burst. I would say no to this, a hard no, especially since Guinsoo's is a common item for him, as well as general mixed damage.

The only reason Kayle works with her passive is because she's a sustained damage dealer, not a burst damage dealer, and her primary damage isn't mixed.

I think you're over exaggerating just a little. What you speak of is a meta that no longer exists, sure he builds items like Bork and Rageblade to deal a lot of different type of % health damage but he's not really a marksman who currently "ALREADY deals a ton of damage". I mean look at Kai'Sa or Lucian for example and tell me honestly if you believe that Varus out damages either of them.

Additionally no one rushes Rageblade as the first item anymore, because it's too unreliable and overall a bad choice as the first item. With Bork he atleast can sustain to survive the laning phase just a little longer.

Also if Varus is so strong and has so much damage; why isn't he part of one of the top tier Marksman? Why does he only have a 46.83% Win-rate? Why is a tier 5 Marksman to begin with?

I'm not trying to sound too defensive or biased or anything but i'm just saying that what you are saying isn't actually fully true. Most Marksman are doing better than him.

A fed Varus is a monstrosity, and he does do damage, but he's more inclined to do his niche burst, instead of straight up burst like Kai'Sa and Lucian do. I just do not under any circumstance think that giving him up to 15% Armor and MR shred while also having the capability to deal %HP damage as magic damage on stack detonation is healthy for the game.

I know and agree that it wouldn't be healthy no denying there, and I wasn't saying that this needs to happen 100%, it was only just a thought. But look at other things in the game that aren't healthy as well and yet they still exist for X reason.

% Penetration (Darius/Garen E, Evelynn W)
% Max Health as True Damage (Fiora)
Execution True Damage (Garen R)
99% Slows

And so on.

Would you also say that the champions mentioned above shouldn't have the things they have because it's unhealthy? Or would they get a free pass just because they are Melee Champs? (genuine question)

The majority of those champions have flaws and weaknesses built in to counterbalance those elements. For instance, Evelynn isn't a particularly mobile assassin, and Garen can be kited like crazy. So if something like Kayle's passive ever made it onto someone like Varus, it would either have to be incredibly watered down, or some of his intense burst would need to be reduced almost completely. That's why that passive is allowed to work as it is on Kayle - her damage output speed is unable to really abuse the shred.

That's the tradeoff for his kit at this time, but if you're going to be potentially be increasing his damage output by 3-15%, he's going to need to have his burst output gutted.

I don't mind that he's an anti-tank marksman, I do mind that it's yet another stacking mechanic to be an anti-tank marksman (like Vayne and Kai'Sa), so I'd like to see some diversity there. I think it's super bland that every single anti-tank marksman has to stack to get their abilities to activate.

Well Kayle is currently going through a VGU so she will more than likely have a brand new passive when that releases next year.

Yeah true, however it does increase the amount of damage that they take from you. It's not a bad choice when faced against a decent amount of AP champs, it's also one of the items that gives the most MR in the game.

+40 MR (stat) +30 MR (at full stacks) -30 MR for your opponent

He played new Akali, Irelia and Nunu before their releases. Just cause one is a XXX Main doesn't mean they dont play other champions (or try them out when they can).

Ehh, an interesting thought, but I don't think its a good idea. I'm pretty sure I would definitely rather have Kayle's passive on Varus and that immediately makes me think it would be unhealthy heh...
