Okay, apparently we can get demoted while playing on other roles

But we can't get promoted? I'm sorry, but this isn't fair. As someone who is a terrible top laner, I had to play top, only to lose the game, and end up getting demoted on my main role (support). I understand that splash LP loss/win is in order to prevent people from just straight up trolling, but I do not believe it is an actual reflection of someone's skill. I don't want to be punished/rewarded for winning or losing a completely separate lane than the one I actually care about.

This new system is much more punishing than the old one. You can theoretically get demoted for all four other roles by losing one game on an off-role, but can't win a promos, meaning if you lose one game on an off-role, you'll have to win at least three more to make up for the other roles' losses, should you get demoted.

IMO, there are other solutions to this issue, but the current one isn't too great. Harsher punishments to discourage trolling, could be one.

Hard agree. I think the promotional system is pretty terribly designed in general. I wouldn't mind automatically demoting when going below 0 LP if we could automatically go up a rank when we exceed 100LP. Personally I think it'd make the ranked system run a lot smoother as a whole.

I feel like if they were to keep this system they should just get rid of promos in general.

well that raises the problems of getting promotions while playing off role they just need to take away demotions on this and should be fine

Wait you cant get promoted on main but you can get demoted on main while playing a off role? AND autofill iis a thing??? LOL these guys are fucking idiots. How do they get jobs?

I more or less came to this thread to find confirmation that it can actually happen and isn't just the ramblings of someone making something up.

I play fill, and I haven't experienced a demotion.

I have experienced a Series block though, where you have to play 1 more game to qualify to enter promos at 100 LP.

Supposedly 9.4 is supposed to enable 100 LP to put you in a Series, but it still doesn't verify/deny that you can get demoted.

That's what happens when you implement halfassed system into the game and expect positive results. You should be happy the system didn't ban you lol

If you get a random DC at all in the game btw and reconnect to win the game you lose LP overall too. even if its a bugsplat or just your wifi randomly going out.

Let's be real here, folks. The positional rankings is a garbage system designed to justify their garbage auto-filled system and to cater toward casual players. It's a system that holds players hands. Players are already playing against lower ranked players when they're playing on "autofilled" roles. Do you really expect Riot to hold players hands even more by not demoting players who consistently underperform?

Honestly, the system annoys me. I've had so many players not care as much because it's not main role.

Two games in a row I had an autofilled top that decided to play an ADC top and then a support... fun for everyone on the team :/

I mean, they are fixing it in 9.4 so you can trigger promos by winning in an off-role.
