Why don't more people play Jayce?

Every time I play this guy I wonder why he isn't more power. He just does so much damage and now all you have to do is built and you won't even be squishy while still dealing massive damage. He's not even that hard to play, empowered shock blast aren't hard to land once you get use to it, he has some mana problems but fixes that. Not to mention the just gave him a pretty solid buff to his melee damage (which he didn't really need), sometimes I enjoy being one of the few Jayce players but it would be cool to see more people play him.

They buffed him twice when he didn't need it lol, he's becoming lux.. Watch them nudge him the tiniest bit more and people will scream "omg op overloade broken jayce" He is rather overloaded lol but no one really seems to realize. I enjoy playing him as well.

Yeah he has one of the most loaded kits in the game, most of the time when I play him people on the other team complain about his damage.

It went up from 45% to 48% since the last buff, but sure ok yeah Jayce sucks he needs buffs.

Azir Elise Kalista LeeSin Lissandra Nidalee Poppy Ryze Thresh He currently has a better win rate than every single one of those champs, many of those champs are considered strong and get played in the LCS. Having a meh win rate doesn't mean you're a weak champion, Jayce's win rate wasn't great even when he was considered OP.

The only thing I think he needs is a slight mana buff, but I don't think he's weak at all. He works insanely well with items like Iceborn, Maw, Steraks, and Black Cleaver. I can't really understand why he's not played more often in at least Top lane. The only issue I really have with him is that his kit is somewhat clunky.

That's like asking to buff Nidalee. Jayce is very oppressive when he's strong.

It's not hard to dodge his shock blast but he has other ways of hurting you that aren't as easy to outplay.

Why don't more people play Jayce?

Popular champions take over ~80% of the champions picked while only accounting for ~15% of the roster.

Basic probability and statistics is the main reason why a lot of people don't play X champion.

2500 gold for manamune which isnt a lot at all and then you have to invest that 3500 gold which is a lot into a black cleaver that barely helps vs tanks then still dies to a tank that he built to counter naw just play poppy and wreck.

I wouldn't buy steraks on him. 0 of his abilities scale with base ad. if you want health and damage idk. get frozen mallet.

to answer your question in my opinion. which am probably wrong. i think hes too mana gated. and hes a squishy for the most part melee champion that doesn't have a whole lota ways to avoid getting focused.

Years ago he had too much utility and too much poke. The sold him as a top lane bruiser who might also be able to carry. However, when he demonstrated the ability to make the whole team better through his speed gate he got nerfed heavily.

They nerfed the bruiser side of his kit until it was non-existent. There's barely any reason to play his hammer form except the occasional disengage.

Riot admitted a long time ago that he is currently situated in a corner case play state where only very high ELO players can make use of him.
Xypherous was doing a pretty solid rework on him for a while, but it got pulled.

Jayce has been left in limbo ever since.

- Too mana hungry and too squishy to be a bruiser.
- League of Movement-Creep has left his utility in the dust - who cares about a speed gate when your whole team has gap closers?
- He's not actually strong enough to be a carry ... nor should he be, he fills no niche as an ADC

Jayce was one of the first mains I lost to the nerf bat.
Every few weeks or so, I dust him off again to see if I can figure out a playstyle that works ... but alas ...

I disagree with what you said about hammer stance, he does crazy damage with it and becomes an off assassin, you should really give him another chance he may not be a bruiser but he is a good champion.
