But my understanding of how iverns passive with smite works is that he can invade at level 1, smite an entire buff camp from the enemy, take his own, and still be back to claim his own buff camp before the enemy even has a chance to counter?

Does this seem a little OP to anyone else?

Ward behind buff, start buff first, if he comes, just kill him and/or harass him back and invade and take his

But how do you even hope to win when he can one shot the entire camp at once and be gone in an instant? Maybr im missing soemthing, but this seems insanly broken.

Because if he wants to Smite it, he either needs to ward over a wall for vision or walk around. He has no combat potential so if he tried to fight, he'd still probably lose. Wards would spot him coming to try and steal it and you could either go ahead and Smite it, or go harass him away and then go back to clear it.

OP? Not really. Just more paranoia.

It takes a 2 second channel to start his passive on a camp, this is before he can smite it for the auto-clear. As long as you play smart and ward/pay attention to your buff you can easily collapse on him and kill him with a strong early game jungler, or at least force him off without losing the buff.
