The new Masteries mechanic is asinine and a dangerous precedent for RNG.

When I read that they were further expanding the masteries' scope I was glad!...But then I read the actual mechanic.

Instead of making it that people only get Mastery points if they rank S or something simple like that, youmade it so needlessly complicated, shoehorning Champion shards into that, there's no actual skill in grinding boxes to see if the RNG gods smile upon you and drop you a damn Champion shard just because you don't have enough blue essence (I won't even question why there are 2 different kinds of essences).

Also, this is a dangerous precedent for RNG and microtransactions. The only reason I've spent so much money in LoL is because it's clear what I'm getting by spending money on it, not in this case, since my last box got me a crappy Mundo skin instead of the Champion Shard I needed to have enough essence, now I have to grind more games to get the 3 keys needed to open one box and HOPE a Champion Shard comes out, I don't enjoy having to spend money in order to take my chances for RNG, while the new Mastery levels don't affect the gameplay in any way whatsoever, it stings to feel that I can't participate in that just because I don't want to pit my money agaisnt RNG.

There's no skill nor mastery involved in paying for little boxes, I really hope you do refine this system because right now it just feels like you're trying to milk me a little bit more for my money, and from someone who got tired of MMO's, I hate that feeling. If you want my money, make good content that appeals me and I will happily spend it, until then, Mastery lvl 5 it is.

You think riot didn't know what they were doing when they made this system? They know there's a market for people who like to gamble at a chance of an exclusive item and it is very profitable and requires little manpower to maintain it.

I remember a little while ago someone made a post claiming it isn't fair that someone spent over $200 to get hex tech Annie and they were unable to make any progress. Most people agreed that this skin was a cash grab to a select few and this mastery system is no different. Stay strong and don't spend money on this it is not worth it, you'll get it eventually.

They are fixing this by releasing champion chests that are worth IP later...or so I've heard
