So now that Azir has been out for a while and even received an early game damage buff what do you guys think of him? Are his bugs still super hard to work with and still holding him back from being good?

The ult sometimes doesn't block anything and people just walk through, but it doesn't happen too often. HE. IS. FREAKING. OP. Besides the first games I played with him, I never played 1 game where I felt like I wasn't being at least useful or carrying the entire game. He has nearly no weaknesses mid to late game. His base cooldowns are low and mixed with the almost mandatory CDR his conceptual weakness of walking away from the soldiers range is negated. He can Q every 3.6 seconds, dealing massive damage at long range since he can constantly attack with all 3 soldiers 100% of the time. Your ult is just to make sure nothing will ever get to you before dying. Just consider this: He gets 180 + 60% AP magic damage every auto attack (WITH A SINGLE SOLDIER). Compare that to other magical attacks like Kayle that do 100% AD + 60 + only 25% AP damage.

I hope they nerf his cooldowns a little though. It's almost boring to play with him late game because he feels like another skill shot mage. I want to be good with Azir because I manage his soldiers properly, not because I can Q and attack all day and decimate everyone.

Comparing a full blown mage's main damage source to a hybrid's attack is hardly fair. Also, his soldiers scale terribly in terms of numbers; having three only does 150% of what one would do.

I can understand what you mean regarding his lategame lack of a weakness and it's kinda why I wasn't a fan of the recent early game buff to him. By making early game better, Riot neutralized the only weak point he had. He's actually the closest to an ADC in terms of mages. ADCs scale multiplicatively off three things: AD, AS, and Crit. Standard mages only scale multiplicatively off two things: AP and CDR. Azir is unique in that he scales off AS as well, making his lategame power spike far more than other mages which peak in midgame before the ADCs take over. I'd have much rather had him with a weak early game and a superb lategame than his current state.

In Azir's case it is fair because he's the only champion that gets no bonus AD on his magic attack. Fizz, Orianna, Kayle and all these other champions that have a magic damage boost to their attacks don't compare to Azir. With 3 soldiers you're hitting for 270 + 90% AP with each attack and that's not counting all your other abilities. There should be a limit to how powerful your late game can be. Everything dies before they can reach the emperor. Squishies get completely obliterated and zoned out from far away, tanks will never reach you with your ult and slows and most assassins that don't have a blink type gap closer won't even land a hit. Azir's late game DPS and utility is unmatched. I've repeatedly demolished champions like Talon that supposedly counter me. The number of times where I was alone defending my base against 4 people and manage to get double kills is too damn high. Anyway, I love Azir's play style, but he would deserve a nerf to his late game. His early game has always been manageable IMO.

They should change the damage numbers around. His Q should deal more damage and W less. Giving him more burst early, but removing his absurd godly sustained damage. And increase the cooldowns and higher ranks so that he doesn't just throw his soldiers whenever and wherever he wants late game. I think this would make him a little more balanced in every stage of the game. Maybe remove the AoE damage effect from his soldier. He is auto attacking a single target with massive damage after all... the splash is just such overkill with 3 soldiers

Yeah, but they kinda designed him to smash everyone late game. The real skill I believe comes from laning with him, kinda like kat :P. I dunno, I tried him and it didnt feel like the base damage buffs on his q really mattered like at all for his early game pressence. And also, have they not yet fixed the bug on his w where the damage doesn't apply sometimes, or the soldier tries to hit something random the moment it spawns?

Damage always apply for me and my soldiers always do as they're told >=). His damage changes mean absolutely nothing if you ask me

His bugs aren't nearly as bothersome anymore. I'd love to see his win rates, but it seems that elophant and lolking can't report statistics for the past couple weeks. Without seeing those after the change, I'm not going to make a judgment on power levels.
