How come we still can't see team gold in game?

Doesn't this seem like something that should have been done by now, for the same logic as when they added in a timer to the drag a while ago? Is anyone else sick of having to use a combination of guesstimations based off of cs, kills, and assists, and how the game "feels" to know whether you are behind or not. I've had far too many teams surrender only to find we were only like 1-2k behind the enemy team.

Showing the overall gold for both teams would make it less about "feels" and more about cold hard calculations and decisions. I shouldn't have to break out my calculator in the middle of a match to know for sure whether we are winning or not. It also wouldn't account for which champions have what amount of gold, so thought would still be required in that aspect.

They probably don't do that for the same reason you think of it as an advantage.

People will just stop trying when they see their team 5k gold behind, while in reality throws happen so often unless you are playing at a masters level, gold really doesn't mean anything.

so basically, when it isn't clear that your team is losing hard (all towers down before 20min or something) you aren't that far behind. And riot probs doesn't want people to give up at that point

The thing about drag timer was that it was a concrete timer that was actually really easy to track as long as you bothered to do it.

Tracking team gold totals, though, is actually a very complex task to the point where it's totally impossible to do while playing the game. This makes it into an actual nuanced skill that takes experience to develop your gut feeling about which team is stronger and where that strength lies.
