Proposed Crescendo Buffs
It's been stated by countless players since the 4.13 nerfs first hit Live, despite loud opposition. The hitbox on Crescendo has been secretly changed, both reduced width and range, with constant denial of this by Fearless. Not the first time a secret nerf has been denied by him, in recent months it has been becoming increasingly apparent and widely-known by players to be true of these shadow nerfs. Between banter in the patch notes: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-510-notes#patch-leona ...and an undocumented change to her champion page, admittedly combine with other page errors: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/bug-report/ctbNtZaf-champion-page-discrepencies-v2 ...it appears highly likely that Crescendo's hitbox is in-fact smaller than pre-4.13.
With these shadow nerfs combined with Crescendo's highly unimpressive comparison to other utility ults...
...it's apparent that Crescendo needs something new to set it apart from other support ultimates, thus leading to my following suggestions:
Part A - Improved Hitbox
- Between both the visual and range nerfs to Crescendo, it's become necessary for its hitbox to start behaving more logically by the physics of sound. In no reasonable expectation should unrestrained sound in an open space every travel in a perfectly rectangular prism. As such, these are the new dimensions to it's hitbox:
-
- Slightly increased width at the point of source by 16.6%
-
- Improved shape, the projectile will now spreading out in a cone, instead of traveling in a linear rectangle
-
- Range increased by 33.3%
Part B - Improved Utility
- The effect of Crescendo is bland, just a flat stun with a gimmicky visual effect with no practical purpose. As her only AoE damage source, it's contradicted by being one of the very few spells in the that cannot effect minions, particularly in desperate situations like pushing back waves of supers. These changes improve its depth and gives her a new tool to play on after falling far behind:
-
- Enemies in the initial radius are temporarily deafened. After the stun duration, anyone affected by the first 50% of the projectile's travel time are silenced for 1 second as their hearing returns.
-
- Enemies at the edge of Crescendo feel reduced effectiveness as the din's magic fades over longer distance. Targets damaged by the final 16.6% of the projectile's travel time take 50% reduced damage and stun duration from the spell.
-
- Crescendo now affects minions! <3
-
- Super minions that would be CC'd by Crescendo's effects now attack allied minions instead. Their attack speed is increased by 50% for the duration.
Part C - Standardized Cooldown
- Despite being close-range and having a small hitbox, its cooldown is very stifling. Longer than most at rank 1 and notably comparable supports at rank 3 such as, Bard and especially Annie. It's a strong tool in lane, but also her main one after that phase ends. With the added utility of part B, it won't need be quite as short as Annie's, but still requires less down-time as her only form of peel and due to its large importance in her playstyle and success.
-
- Cooldown reduced to 130 / 110/ 90 from 140 / 120 / 100
