dumbasses need to stop sayin sona "hits too hard" BUFF HER BECAUSE NAMI HITS WAY HARDER

I love all these bronze 5 numbnuts that cant do simple math Nami way out damages and way out ranges sonas entire kit

Sonas entire kit = 650 without power chord - 842 damage with power chord/942 with q power chord Namis entire kit = 960 damage

how about range?

Sona Q = 700 Sona Ult = 1000 Nami Q = 875 Nami W = 725 Nami Ult = 2750

so basically nami gets to hit way outside of sonas range with 0 counter play yet they nerf sona 8 times in a row k...

if you are going to nerf sona the mage on the pretext that she "does too much damage" when she builds pure glass cannon and dies in 1-2 hits from nearly any champion ingame then please fucking gut freelo shitfish damage by 150-200 per rotation because she way out damages sona and safely does it from the other side of the screen

ap nami with lich bane is far more dangerous than ap sona so why isnt nami gutted to oblivion and nerfed 8 times in a row like sona?

I think Chalice nerfs and the %missing health really made it hard to sustain yourself or make any 'clutch' heals. If you're not ahead you can really feel it, you feel useless imo ._.

As a Sona main I totally feel this way now... Basically w feels like a waste and it cost so much it hurts to use... Have to max q now... Or max fin e and just be a bus for your slow footed team.

A sona 100'd to zero my mid laner the other day. 2100 damage in 3 seconds.

Also her damage is targeted, Nami's q is not (both of their ults are skillshots). Sona's in lane sustain and play is much more annoying than Nami's. If anything i'd be fine with bigger nerfs to sona.

Also there is much more counter play to nami than Sona...apparently u don't know who the "bronze V numbnut" is

this isnt about 100-0 potential anyone can 100-0 a mid or adc when built ap with lich bane and dfg so terrible arguement guess how much ap trist and other ap champs can burst for when built pure ap? spoilers: its fuck tons more than sona

Killer X 125 votes

Oh hey, your the same guy who was complaining about the AP sona nerfs like last week. You thought your opinion was worth more than mine because i was unranked. lol.

Well again, whether or not you acknowldege that sona shouldn't be doing as much damage as she does, perhaps you'll admit that her in lane damage is all targeted. It can even hit people in bushes when you don't have vision of them. You even have to flash BEFORE she casts her ult to avoid it. Nami's q can be dodged (and easily at that) her W can be moved away from so that it only gets 1 bounces (thus making it very ineffective since an auto from your adc will do about the same about of damage as long as the heal doesn't get back to nami). And you even have the ability to flash AFTER her ult is cast because of how slow it is.

SO even tho the base damages for sona's kit are a bit lower, and the ranges are a bit lower, her ability to do the damage uncontested kind of makes of for it. Its not all just about ranges and base damages. Its about the medium through which the damage is done and the ability of your opponent to respond.

Diostukos9 votes

What? No it can't.

Killer X 121 votes

I've done it. You walk up to bushes (on aram for example where you have no wards) and you just hit the button. If someone is on the bush it'll attack them. Unless they've changed that recently i did that like last month.

Sightless668 votes

You're either being dishonest or you've found a bug. It never used to work that way and I have not seen evidence of it working that way now. If you're telling the truth, I'd recommend taking a video of it and sending it to support, or at least posting about it on the bug forums. It is not intended functionality.

Killer X 122 votes

Never thought much about it since its happened to me when i was in unwarded bushes (i'd swept them). I have never personally done it on a normal because i don't play sona except in ARAMs...but ever since is tarted playing this game i've been seeing this. That was 18 months ago. Perhaps its a bug now and back then i was just in warded bushes (maybe cause i was a noob and didn't know)...but i've certainly seen this in game.

Perhaps ask the thread maker, since he is sona pro. I'm not.

Sightless665 votes

Sona is one of my main champions. It shouldn't be working that way, and I have never seen it work that way before. If you see it again, record the circumstances and report it to Riot. If it is as you describe, it is a bug. 100%, no question about it.

Killer X 121 votes

Okay, ty for this.

Lstrike4 votes

Sona's Q does not hit ppl in bushes without vision. Its not a bug..

Emmy Cha0s4 votes

Perhaps ask the thread maker, since he is sona pro.*** I'm not. ***

Yet you felt it necessary to give your uneducated and clearly biased opinion. You don't see me going around posting on every Sion or Cassiopeia thread. That's because I don't play Sion and I rarely played Cass, I have the decency and presence of mind to realize and understand I'm not qualified to weigh in on them. Anything I could say would potentially be spam.

Killer X 123 votes

This thread was made by a sona pro who is fully aware of the power of his/her champion and is omitting information about the match up to favor his position. He/she is clearly aware that sona will still be fine after the nerfs, but prefers her in her state of power (or more so maybe 3 nerfs ago).

No, i am not sona pro, but Nami is currently my main support. I play against sona all the time. Even if what i had mentioned before is in fact a bug (an annoying one at that) everyone else i stated does remain valid. I would not speak on this issue if i did not feel what i had to say wasn't worth pointing out.

I don't need to be sona pro to know that even tho sona's range and base damage of her Q is lower she has it on an 8 sec cd and nami is on a 14. One is targeted (and can hit 2 people who are not next to each other), and procs a damage bonus of her passive, and the other is a very slow skill shot (which can hit two people but they most be near each other). The W CDs are the same. The Es differ by 1 second (in favor of nami).

I was not out of place in stating what i did. I do not have to be a Sona pro to give my opinion on what makes sona/nami strong/weak/annoying in lane. He made a comparison. I offered evidence and a counter point.

I however, find it strange that you felt to post to me after i compliment a person i CLEARLY do not agree with. While my post was very clearly biased, was was the original. That is the two sides of this coin.

Thank you for your opinion, Sion/Cass Main.

I built dfg lich bane graves and pressed my W and they didnt die

what am I doing wrong?

Talamare3 votes

The burst might be similar, but the sustained damage is in Sona's favor 14s CD on Q vs 8

Pika3104 votes

That's an incomplete comparison, all 3 of Nami's abilities are damage. Thus, it is a 14s CD + 10s CD + 11s CD vs a lone 8s CD. Not to mention all 3 of Nami's spells each individually out-damage Hymn's bolt+on-hit. At the same time, Nami also has easy access to 2 forms of CC pre-6 and a superior heal.

Stephenizgod3 votes

Sona's damage is targeted, so she can easily burst one person, Nami is completely reliant on hitting her abilities which are easily dodged or avoided. Sona with Sheen + Power Chord does more damage then Nami with Sheen + E so yeah Sona can out damage Nami.

Miku Hime sama3 votes

Nami's W and E can be dodged? This is news to me. I hadn't realized "dodge" was added back into the game and that single-target abilities can randomly miss now.

Also, Nami has higher base AD than Sona. Nami matter-of-factly does more damage with Sheen.

Stephenizgod1 votes

I guess you just missed the part where i said or avoided...

Dodge - avoid (someone or something) by a sudden quick movement.

So if you move to the side you fast enough you dodge her Q and R. If you move backwards out of range you can avoid her W and E. (Nami Q is 800 range, Sona Q is 850 so you can avoid Nami easier then Sona)

---Now that i just taught you English, let me teach you some math---

Lets say they both start with 30 AP and are level 1 (this is just to simplify it).

Nami starts with 51 AD. Sona starts with 50.

Nami's E gives her 25+6= 31

Sona's Q gives her next basic attack 20+6= 26 damage.
Power Chord givers her 13+6= 18+9= 27 damage.
So total it does 27+26= 53.
(Hymn of Valor gives her next basic attack 20 +20% of her AP on hit magic damage, Power Chord gives 13 +20% of her AP but since the last ability cast was Hymn of Valor it does 50% bonus damage)

Sheen does 100% of your AD sooo Nami gets 51+51+31 = 133 damage with Sheen. Sona does 53+50+50= 153 damage with Sheen.

So i think its safe to say with only 1 auto attack and Sheen, Sona does more damage matter-of-factly...

Miku Hime sama3 votes

(Nami Q is 800 range, Sona Q is 850 so you can avoid Nami easier then Sona)

Sona's Q range is 700, contrary to the mistaken guides. At least get the hard data correct before propagandizing your soft, biased, intentionally inaccurate calculations.

Stephenizgod2 votes

Ok my bad the league website and Wiki is wrong then, i dont play Sona so i dont know her range. But my other calculations are correct... If you want to feel you won this argument over 1 mistake i made that had nothing to do with my comment at all, not even a little bit seeing as my comment was on the damage done not on the range of the abilities (i didnt even put in the Q's damage into my calculations on purpose because i didnt want you to counter argument with some BS about it not being able to hit...) then by all means, congratz you won... Happy? you won an argument even though you know you are wrong :D

Hayaishi2 votes

It's not like Nami is harder to play or anything.

FantasySniper1 votes

Nami deals less against two opponents than Sona, and Sona's damage scales with every nearby teammate that uses her proc.

BTW, why do you have to include the entirety of Nami's kit for the damage? Sona only has to be within range for little over a second to use her only two damage abilities, meanwhile Nami has to stick there for at least 5 if you dish out everything properly.

Pika3103 votes

You're intentionally and misleadingly implying that Nami's spells only hit a single target, when that is completely false. It's already apparent Blessing's procs can be distributed as seen fit. Aqua Prison can tag any number of enemies, a good Nami especially will grab double bubbles frequently in-lane for 75 x 2 damage. As for Flow, it out-ranges Hymn by a meager 25 units making them near identical, even an average Nami can easily do a Flow-Ebb-Flow for 70 dmg + 55 heal + 51 dmg.

I don't need to be a math major to tell you 40 x 2 < 75 x 2; or 70 + 51.

FantasySniper2 votes

In a strictly numbers situation, Nami will out-damage Sona, especially with her quadratic scaling. The process of applying their attacks are very different in safety, however, making a difference in "damage potential", so to speak.

Realistically, double bubbles only happen when the enemy is in direct retreat or they have a Braum or Sona, because a support usually positions themselves better than that. Sona can consistently strike with both projectiles of her [Q] at the same time, Nami has to use her Ebb and Flow and keep in range to damage both targets, often putting herself at risk in the process and likely miss out on some, if not all, of the health she would have just healed, only for herself. That range is lower than Sona's Hymn by 125 (850-725) units. Sona only has to move in and out, applying her AA proc and can retreat safely knowing she has two other spells that can put up a fight not only for her, but for her teammate. Nami would have to sacrifice her CC to get such consistent and safe harass, making it hard for her to use it during a fight because she just used it trying to harass.

Nami's heal and targeted harass is the same spell, too. Sona can outsustain and harass the enemy lane with little difficulty thanks to them being on separate CDs, Nami would have to wait to do both a heal and harass if she were to do either alone.

BTW, "Ebb" is the damage part. It means to reduce, and in this case, that's health.

Yay, bronze logic! I expect nothing more from a troll like yourself and you never fail. <3

You not only contradict your own statements, but also provide intentionally false statistics and incorrect Nami strategy. On top of this, you (once again) use propaganda and libel to distract people from your purposely misleading comments and attempt to discredit actual logic.

sona players still dont realize an easy to play champion should not be doing better than the simple ones unless we want everyone to be like ryze where easy > skill. Sona is better than most of the supports and if my support requires me to actually hit shit vs sona just hitting a button and sona wins way more then yes sona is too good. its 2015 and sona mains are still claiming nami is better than sona when the hard data says sona wins more. Delusion too strong better circlejerk more and ignore anything that doesnt suit our sona is weak spam.
