I've only read the reveal notes. But here's what I'm getting out of it.
Kayn is an assassin, that likely will be played in the jungle. I can see him played top or mid as well.
He will likely build AD and scale with AD.
His passive works by who you kill. You start off playing as Kayn in his normal form. As you hunt for other champions, your scythe either loses control or gains control.
If you hunt ranged enemies, Kayn remains in control and becomes a shadow assassin.
If uou fight melee targets, you get possessed by the darkin and become it.
Then your abilities gain effects based on how you transferred.
Which transformation should you aim to get? the shadow assassin or darkin?
Depends on the game. Assassin does more damage so you'd choose that side when you're snowballing.
Darkin is tankier so you'd go this route when your team needs you to be more of a bruiser.
It's situational and depends on team compositions as well as what you feel like doing.
Too soon to tell.
Kayn is probably good with top and jg as when he plays top, most top laners are melee and have high hp, meaning that you have high chance of turning into Darkin and will gain more damage them as darkin's damage is based on percentage of enemy's health. Also, when he plays jg, he will be able to gank different types (melee and ranged) so it'll be better for you when you need to make a choice of what to transform into. It says when shadow ninja, he will give extra magic damage but i think he'll be ad as when he is darkin he'll gain life steal effect. I think magic damage increase when you increase your skill level. Shadow Assassin is probably for safer play because he will be able to move around when using skill(w) and gains extra speed(e). Darkin will be for tank, linephase or more deal, because with his life steal he'll be able to survive longer in teamfights and lining, and he gains extra damage based on percentage of enemy's health. So if 1v1ing or have a bit fed opponent, go shadow ninja and if having teamfight, go Darkin.
kayn is ad in all forms he just deals extra bonus dmg in the shadow reaper form he builds only ad not ap and he is jng but i guess you can play him top too...btw the red side the darken is more for killing tanks and the shadow reaper for killing squishy targets like adc or mid [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
