My secret desire for Shyvana

Mira Arya Enthe··93 votes·3,930 views

Honestly, I wish Shyvana's dragon form had some way of converting AS into damage and multiple on-hits. Because, big dragon wing slapping 2.5 times a second is silly. It would be badass to barrage punches in human form, ult, then do giant hits in dragon form. Sadly, I doubt this could be coded or balanced properly.

Even with it being said that it is likely not possible, it would still be awesome. Just getting those massive, singular hits.

Not a gameplay suggestion, more of a gameplay fantasy.

Basically, I want her human form to feel quick and agile like a warrior, and her dragon form to feel devastating and scary. Her E changes helped this. But I think converting AS into multiple applications/partial applications of on hits and AD would be awesome way to make dragon form feel more like a fearsome beast. Similar to Jhin but accounting for on hit effects.

Where's Jarvan?

Pretty sure everyone did...

Actually I didn't even think of "that" until I saw MM's comment. I knew it would be some kind of change to her that someone would like to see in her kit. You guys have such sick little minds. ;)

It's not a secret, if someone else knows about it.

I wish she spit more fire

but no they have to give dumb-ass fuck face Rumble the flamethrower, and not the fire breathing dragon

I wish Shyvana's dragon form had some way of converting AS into damage and multiple on-hits.

you could give her a locked attack speed for dragon form and then run whatever AS=>AD conversion shit Jhin does, i don't see why it'd be hard to do.

it'd be kinda nice to see dragon form take more drastic changes in the future but we probably won't see those for a long time

I see somebody doesn't like Rumble's moving heartseeker strike? Yeh, I don't like corki either.

i hate all yordles, they're purposefully designed to be obnoxious shitheads

tbh I never liked shyvana's burnout. i get that it's probably her most iconic move but it always felt the most out of place, and it's probably the one i'd be most likely to replace

or maybe Shyvanna breathes fire for her auto attack, and the DoT counts as auto attacks themselves :o

I would love it for her to be an almost Valkyrie fighter style (Swift, deadly, single target, good at 1v1) But dragon form gets more strength from AOE, like AA are an area around her (Dragon tail whip, wing claws.) and be able to reactivate the ultimate and fly up somewhere to reposition once, similar to Elise.

Maybe i have just played to much Dragon Age lately

Sexy Fish Nami9 votes

Technically, they could do that. Shyvana has alway been this "nuke" that when she goes in, she does a living shit ton of aoe dmg.

From a balance stand of view, I don't see much of a problem if they made her dragon form lose some mobility (no burnout bonus ms), that would give shyvana a choice in duels: do i want to keep my mobility or hope for a quick death with a burst?

Either way, I think it would be nice if they move AS into AD

Fertsa6 votes

The best way i could think of doing this is move the AOE attack from her Q onto dragon form in general, and have her dragon form have a similar effect to Jhin's passive. But in general this would make her ult be SUPER loaded in text, and would make several items that are focused solely on attack speed feel nowhere near as good to be used.

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

Guinsoo's would be great in human form, and in dargon form the AAs could apply on hits multiple times including Guinsoo's. Again, more of a fantasy tho than a protectal suggestion.

TeCoolMage1 votes

The text could be moved into her passive (Q, W, E and R all have a 'Dragon form: blablabla' section rather than her ult, I'm pretty sure)

I feel this is one of Shyvana's biggest gameplay/fantasy issues right now: for some reason, she's heavily incentivized to build on-hit and attack speed in human form, but once she turns into a dragon, it makes little thematic sense for her to be attacking at superspeed. In fact, it would likely be more appropriate for Dragon Shyvana to have really slow, but sweeping and powerful basic attacks. I think it also makes her design more difficult to approach: on one hand, her status as an on-hit Juggernaut is completely unique, so removing that would likely hurt a lot of players, but thematically speaking, large amounts of attack speed don't really make sense on her character.

Picking up on OP's suggestion, though, one way of letting AS factor more into Dragon Shyvana could be through a different Q: right now, it's just a bigger human Q, the AoE cleave is only situationally useful, and so far we still don't have a real "dragon's breath" ability in-game, even if we have dragons spitting out balls of whatever in one go. One potential alternative could be to turn Shyvana's Q into a channeled firebreathing attack, and have AS speed up the channel, causing the damage to be dealt over a shorter period of time. That way, Dragon Shyvana would be better tied to attack speed over the course of the game, but would also operate through momentous, powerful abilities, rather than just very quick attacks.

Isn't he a diver or something? He has that huge movement speed thing + CC

His best form of mobility is running at people, and he has a 1 second stun that has an on-target cooldown that's very long. Not a diver at all, he's a hueggernaut.

Teridax681 votes

I think the defining feature of a diver is that they're a fighter with easy access to the back line: champions like Camille, Vi and Jarvan, for example, can just drop onto the mage or marksman at the press of a button. Udyr, by contrast, needs to run through the entire front line first, even if he's quite fast. If anything, he's more of a weird cross between a juggernaut and a light fighter than a diver.

IMO she needs a true VU more than anything. Right now the main thing keeping me from playing her is how unsatisfying her auto attacks are. Best comparison is WW. Old WW just stiffly slapped you, and his autos were unsatisfying. New WW plays very similar, and if his rework was just a VU, he still wouldn't be fun to play His new animations however are so sexy and make him so fun to play. His autos are super satisfying. That's what I want for shyvana, I want to feel the impact on her hits, not to see this massive dragon just wingslap her opponents over and over really stiff and awkwardly, like she was animated by the team behind superman 64's animations. Her model is just really ugly too. A VU would go a long way for her.

MunchCrunchLunch3 votes

that what i've always said. I've always said her dragon form should be more of a caster than aa. its silly just like you said. the idea of as into ad is neat. but it has to be a little more satisfying than that. sure they made her a little more satisfying to ult with with the new E. but its still so poor compared to gnar. so damn poor. and unsatisfying. often times I don't even ult because her aa animation is slow in dragon form makes me miss autos sometimes. they should just give her brand new abilities when she goes into dragon form. W would be a shorter spurt of fire that engulfes herself but deals a lot of damage at a burst. not consistent. E stays the same . less dot more upfront damage. Q becomes a wind lash with her wing that deals damage and cripples enemies. hitting R again during dragon form would make her do some cool mini ult damaging ability. the tradeoff to all of that making her ult charge a lot slower. because its almost always up but unrewarding as it sits.

obviously hypothetical changes that aren't even suggestions because they are probably not the best that can be made or just don't fit in league or many other balance reasons. but just an insight that it can be better than it is now.

Would be cool. Her dragon form just feels bad overall.

"those massive, singular hits"

Not gonna lie, I read this as "tits".

TheI3igDaddy3 votes

Uh, isn't that essentially what they did with Gnar?

His tiny form has higher base attack speed and MS (if I recall correctly), but Mega is larger, tankier, but attacks more slowly. It doesn't seem too hard to re-code Shyv's Dragon Form to act similarly.

Felvyne2 votes

Honestly, I think this should be tried.

Would be human Shyv something more akind to a squirmisher (without tons of mobility) and when she ults transition into a juggernaut? Would be pretty unique

I don't think it would be that hard to code, because we already have Jhin: he has a fixed amount of AS, while his passive converts the bonus AS and crit chance that he buys with items into AD.

Wish that, as a Dragon, she could fly.

Her slowed attacks could burn the enemy for x damage + % bonus armor they build (because armor melts.. and hurts)

I was super excited when i read they were reworking her dragon form but was disappointed with how minor it was, I agree her dragon form should be extremely different than her base form but riots already aware of this

Shyvana, swain and the other transformation champions(Excluding gnar i believe) are all failed concepts for riot.

Elise is one of the most balanced and consistent champions in the entire game. Calling her failed when she's the epitome of balance makes you look pretty stupid, sorry. Shyvana is in no way a failed concept either. She's a great functional, balanced champion. Her dragon form could use some work, but calling her failed? Lol no.

Phew, I thought this thread was going down a much darker path.

Huebone1 votes

I want a REAL dragon on the rift, why does Shyvana even do on hit? I feel like Shyvana should be shooting fire balls and incinerating squishies up close instead of chasing them around, like Mega Gnar, Mega Gnar is like a Wyrm(wingless dragon), Shyvana in dragon form should be... Somewhat like an AP mega gnar with longer range, without the ult. For example, she's, in lore, supposed to be this fire breathing dragon hybrid or something? Her kit resembles more of a Tigrex from monster hunter, than a Rathalos, which if you don't know MH, Tigrex is a wyvern that runs clawing at enemies ferociously and doesn't fly often, but a Rathalos is a red fire dragon that shoots deadly fireballs, like the infernal drake. Then there's Shyvana who has a mixture of those two dragons kits, but there's not enough blazing fires and explosions, just mostly running around chasing an enemy, and a pathetic "flame breath".

I was expecting a leg joke
