Why do you hate playing against Irelia to the point you would ban her over other options?

Answer: I don't. By the time they tinker around with her W, she's gonna be outright weak, honestly. People just want to see newer, flashier champs be garbage while they play the "not as new" ones and rake in freelo. It's sickening behavior.

she's gonna be outright weak

For a champion like her, overall weak should be the target for balancing.

The same for Camille and Akali.

ModWulf Helhammer3 votes

Aaaand that’s why Riot doesn’t like to listen to the boards for balance.

If something is weak, then it isn’t balanced. By definition.

SithesisLord2 votes

Overloaded champions are never balanced through simple number changes.

More balance levers making a champion easier to balance is a fallacy.

Overloaded champions are fixed by removing parts of their kits.

See: Ekko.

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

Refresh my memory, because I don’t remember any mechanics being removed from Ekko (except maybe a movement speed steal for proccing his passive, as opposed to just a speed up, but I don’t remember if he even had that). In fact, he’s gotten a couple more, such as the ability to activate his stun ulting back through it.

And lemme guess:

"Sithesislord mains one of the fair champions, so his champions are perfectly fine and shouldn't be weak."

She’s the only champion who will force me to sit outside of EXP range while I’m at full HP. Every other champion either has a much lower engage range or much less kill pressure versus full-HP targets.

chipndip11 votes

That depends on the minion wave, really.

Irelia Bot1 votes

I get a feeling this is exaggeration as the exp range is 1600 last I checked meaning Irelia would need at least 2 Q to get in range.

chipndip11 votes

Oh it's a massive exaggeration, but the point is that Irelia zoning people from waves depends on the wave and how its shaping up.

Alzon1 votes

Yeah, and whenever the lane isn’t slowpushing to me I just smash her like another minion because the guy playing her doesn’t fully know what he’s doing. It’s whenever she gets her passive and Conqueror stacked that I have to sit way, way far back and just let Jesus take the wheel while she free farms. This feeling of utter helplessness is why I ban her. Of course I beat most Irelias in lane, but is going 3/0 a won lane if I’m also down 2 levels and 30 CS? Not to mention I’m literally just sitting there most of the time. I want to play League of Legends, dammit!

chipndip11 votes

If you're 3/0, you aren't 2 levels and 30 cs down unless you afk'd.

Either she gives you more trouble than you let on, or you really just don't want Irelia to be remotely good as a champion.

  1. She jumps around like pre-rework Katarina in URF
  2. She is a master of all trades
  3. She seems to have unlimited potential and no real reasonable cap on skill expression
  4. In games with 10 players at lvl 18 with full build, I have truly wondered whether she is mathematically killable when played perfectly.
FOR JUSTICE2 votes

Thats a good question actually. Personally:

Q reset on minion kill, free pseudo mobility

Highest melee attack range

Hard CC plus q reset

Disarming ultimate plus slow

Spikes off of 1-2 items which only need a about 3-4 kills to finish, each easily obtained by a lucky last hit shutdown (assuming decent CS)

True damage plus free scaling even harder with runes

Free damage reduction

Free waveclear

Explain to me why someone wouldnt ban her though?

Irelia Bot2 votes

Insert random champ, abilities and list what they do

Explain why you WOULDNT ban them.

You are not being constructive you just listing what a champ does.

We should perma ban Lulu for Polymorph being OP and defensive heath increasing ult that knocks up enemies as well as scaling movement speed with AP making her too safe by this logic.

FOR JUSTICE1 votes

in exchange she has a trash defensive pool and only pokes from afar.

irelia isnt punished very hard because of how safe her combo generally is. and i dont exactly know how this wasnt constructive considering i asked for a reason as to why someone wouldnt want to.

and a champion with all that in their kit is a bit too much IMO. there has to be a line drawn somewhere.

saltran2 votes

I dont, I never ban her.

Q spam.

The champs that are OPAS have more buttons to push in a 10s time frame OR Auto attacks.

To balance champs RIot needs to put limites on the number of attacks a champ can do in 10s.

Take Veigar and say Jax.

In 10s Veigar can Qx2, Wx2, Ex1, Rx1 with 4-5 auto attacks that really dont matter.

Jax can Qx2 Ex3 Ex1 Rx1 and auto attack 20-25 times......

This is Why Veigar has a stun and W and R that does so much damage. BUT Jax still does more damage then Veigar and is why he is a Hypercarry ( tho riot needs to delete the concept of Hypercarry from the game)

Irelia can Wx1 Ex1 Rx1 and auto attack 6-10 times so her Q needs to make up for it. So if played right Qx3 and they stack most of her damage into it with On Hit and her passive.

Her engage is too strong and she doesn't get punished enough for spamming abilities as other champions would. Her resets are too generous, her passive and conqueror give her strong innate damage at almost all points of the game even when building much tankier, her stun hitbox is sketchy at best with a range that's a bit too long for my liking, and finally (IMO) her ult slows too hard. I think that it should function similar to Thresh's ult, where the first champion to penetrate the wall gets slowed heavily, then every champion after that gets slowed by a reduced amount.

It's genuinely just **never ** fun fighting her.

Irelia Bot1 votes

I would actually be alright if the marks were a 70% CDR for Q instead of a reset.

Moody P1 votes

It's the same reason a lot of people ban Darius, or how they used to ban Fizz/Riven

You can stomp her out in lane but you know she'll somehow pick up a kill off your ape teammate and suddenly she's solo carrying

Asamas1 votes

Yasuo Pasag! Pasagi! Pasagu! Pasag! Nobody can dash as much as me!

Irelia Hold my bear.

Basically the answer of the question

Linna Excel1 votes

Good question. It's not like she's Akali and is cancer to her own team as well as the other team.

As a support main, my primary bans are either going to be a support, an ADC, or a jungler. Or I'd ban akali just to keep her and that 45% win rate off of my team.

Dr Dog1 votes

because if i dont one of my teammates will feed her :/

Irelia Bot1 votes

And this is any different from a large number of other champs how?

SithesisLord1 votes

Because all of those don´t get 50% damage reduction off of a single BASIC ability.

That high damage reduction belongs on ultimates, not basic abilities.

Irelia Bot3 votes

Many champs have comparable if not straight up better damage reduction just in different ways.

Example being trynda who has a 100% damage reduction for 5 seconds after pressing r.

Jax counterstrie is 100% Dodge.

Fiora is 100% damage reduction with a potential reversal of CC.

Dr Dog1 votes

that was more of a joke, in all seriousness shes just too good at all stages of the game. she works as a good lane bully then gets to be very strong mid game then after that she becomes a very tanky hyper carry late, she has great teamfighting and dueling, mobility, high dmg, true dmg ap dmg and physical dmg so shes unable to be built against, a decent amount of cc and sustain, insane wave clear, very good synergy with the trifecta of broken bruiser items rn item 3078 item 3748 item 3053 her mana costs arent big enough early on for spamming your spells to make a dent. she has the same issue as yasuo used to have back in the day, she doesnt have counterplay as you have to rely on the enemy to mess up as opposed to outplaying them
