Latency bar

Hi All, When we playing on the new HUD one thing that stuck out to us is how we represent latency (ping). We tried shifting to the bar icon but after playing on that for a while we don't feel its accurate enough and felt arbitrary. Colored ping bars can be pretty arbitrary to the average player, as there is no accepted 'standard' of what someone should do when they see yellow - or red - bars instead of green. In lieu of this we maked a simple change so there's more clarity around what a player's connection speed is to the game server and can derive meaningful information from that. This is a long line to say we want to show you real information, not colors. To that end we've removed the colored bars and have the actual latency number displaying right below where the bars were by default. If you don't like these numbers there or find them distracting, you can use the CTRL+F function to turn them off. Let us know how this feels. Thanks, -Chager

Yeah riot we are basically stupid! We dont know what green, yellow and red means and what rising and shrinking things are. We do not even have these things on the CELL PHONES or never even saw these things ever! Yeah its much better when you removed this useless thing that is way too confusing for the average day user -Kappa

OK seriously KEEP IT! Personally i like it cause it is short information about your current connect and i think it should stay so DO NOT REMOVE IT or put option about it but let it stay! How the hell are you suppose to know that your ping is more than normal? Having graphics are actually easier and faster to understand than having numbers or you like us to go back to DOS days?

This is, sorry, a stupid complaint. Bars tell nothing useful.

For example it stays green well into the hundreds, but gameplay is noticeably affected. There is a big difference between 110 and 60 even if bar is still green, and its good to know.

Perspective: Normal ping for me was pretty much always at the border of the green to yellow color change (which is 150 ping if I remember) until the server move. Watching the bar go from green to yellow meant nothing to me, and playing with a yellow bar didn't mean much of a difference as long as it was on the low end. The upper end of the yellow zone is noticeable though, even with no change in color.

And as #WestCoastTears have told us, there's apparently some huge difference even in the green zone that is noticeable (I don't see it even though my ping is 20-40 now). So as we can see from experience, bars are an arbitrary definition of what is good and what is bad.

I don't see the problem in having more information; like with cell phone connection as you put, do you even know what the difference between 3 bars and 1 bar is? I have never seen a difference or a call dropped at 1 bar, the biggest difference for me is from 1 to no bars.
